Vivlamore back from NYC. Here is your quick game thread for tonight’s game against the Magic.
The news today is that Kirk Hinrich will start in the backcourt with Jeff Teague with Joe Johnson out.
Here is coach Larry Drew’s thoughts on the move:
“From a matchup standpoint, we like the matchups,” Drew said. “We play a little faster. Just to tweak it. See how both Jeff and Kirk play with one another. We’ve been wanting to experiment with that anyway. They’ve been out on the floor before so we will put them out there as starters and see if they can generate anything.”
The move allows Drew to use Willie Green off the bench, where he has provided a spark this season. Green started for Marvin Williams Monday in Chicago and for Johnson in New York Wednesday.
“Willie has been doing a really good job the last couple of weeks,” Drew said. “He’s done a really good job coming off the bench with his ability to score. Moving him back to the bench gives us that punch again.”
I’m a little behind after traveling this morning so take it away folks.

I’m sure LD will celebrate this win as if the Hawks beat a good team. Orlando isn’t that good but yet still came back from being down double digits.
I would like somebody from the media to ask LD why he only played Tracy 8 min but I’m sure LD will say some b.s like it was the second game of a back to back…or that other guys were playing well and he went with what was working…
Don’t believe the hype about Pargo and Green..they are not going to be a factor when the post season starts and If LD thinks that he can pull this “musical chairs ” crap with how he rotates players then he’s a bigger idiot that we thought.
See you guys next week…enjoy the weekend…guess we’ll have to wait and see how bad Joe’s knees are since nothing was reported about his MRI…

Hedo is crap hahaha good win Hawks. Once again Josh carried us both on offense and defense, but you can’t take anything away from Zaza with a nice game keeping Dwight in check and a nice 13 rebound day. Willie bailed us out in the 4th quarter but with 2 of our all-stars gone, someone had too. We still need a damn big man

Good win for the Hawks and a much needed one at that. They beat the 3rd seeded Eastern Conference team. Hawks on pace to win 38-40 games in this condensed season. Hawks appear to have the Magic’s number [with pun intended] going back to last season.

Still love the way Smoove has matured this season from previous ones. Sure he still takes a few jumpers at some bad times, but today’s game showed how, when needed, he steps up and plays his game. If he isn’t an all-star next season, something’s wrong

Lol….. people still got Marvin on the brain. He missed his only 3 shots, but got 6 rebs in 22 minutes and played good defense on Hero, Ryan, and good team D. Then the dude can’t even play in the 4th quarter, along with T-Mac.
Hawks were lucky that Willie “I’m more efficient than Jamal Crawford” Green bailed us out. Game balls go to Josh’s 1st half, Zaza on the boards all game, and Willie’s offensive heroics in the 4th.
This still doesn’t let Drew off the hook. We pretty much own Orlando now.

I like the Knicks with Lin. I don’t see myself riding the bandwagon, still a true blood Hawks fan. But don’t you want to see the Knicks make the playoffs and upset the Bulls or someone else besides the Hawks or the Heat.
If the Hawks don’t win the NBA title then the Heat HAVE to. LeBron has to start now! Someone with that much talent really does need to have atleast 5 rings after his career is over.

I’d love to see the Knicks upset the Heat in the first round and then get beat in the 2nd round, because the Heat and Knicks would probably be the toughest teams for the Hawks to beat in a 7 game series.

northcyde,
You are my dude and i really enjoy reading your post but please don’t lose your blog cred by trying to defend Marvin especially after a game like tonight. Willie played 1 min more than Marvin and attempted 7 more shots then him. Heck, even Vlad took 2 shots more than Marvin. And both guys had at least +4 while Marvin finished with -1.

Melvin, I don’t worry about my “blog credibility”. I simply want Drew to play the best 8 or 9 guys on a nightly basis. On those rebounds that Marvin grabbed, he could do like Josh Smith does and go one on three or try to make a Magic Johnson pass……but he doesn’t. He gets the rebound and gets the ball to a guard. May not be aggressive basketball, but it’s the right basketball play.
Dude simply plays his role and takes what the defense gives him. He should be more aggressive and selfish at times.
My thing is this. If the guy who is backing him up is a worse player, no way should that player be getting more minutes. People can make a case for T-Mac. They can’t make a case for Vlad.
Had Marvin committed that foul on “wannabe a Hero” Turkoglu that sent him to the line, this blog would’ve dropped a nuclear bomb on Marvin.
Marvin may be invisible, but Vlad is radioactive garbage.
