Atlanta Hawks at Lakers: Game thread
Los Angeles–It’s the usual starters for the Hawks. Steve Blake (ribs) is active for the Lakers.
- Jason Collins (elbow) has joined the team here but Larry Drew said it’s doubtful he will play on the trip. That means there’s a pretty good chance Erick Dampier will stick around for a second 10-day contract.
- Collins said the elbow is feeling a lot better and has a checkup with his doctor tomorrow. He’s eager to play. “Especially a game like tonight,” he said.
- Kirk Hinrich said he “feels great” physically and sounds as if he’s ready for more minutes: “I’m just staying patient.”
Hawks players gathered around Josh Smith’s IPad to watch Knicks underdog sensation Jeremy Lin hit a game-winning 3 at Toronto.

Hinrich is more of quarterback on the court with an understanding of how an offense should run. Teague is reactive not proactive.

“Teague still does too many dumb things to be a starter.”
He wasn’t doing dumb things when he had his spot in the rotation before Kirk got back and cut into his minutes. Let him play and he’ll be fine. They need to quit taking the ball out of his hands and let him attack. I agree that he isn’t great at setting up his teammates yet, but that will only improve with experience.

I give the Hawks credit, they are actually trying pretty hard. I don’t think it will be enough, because the Lakers are going to continue dominating the glass, but hopefully they can actually make it a close game.
