Atlanta Hawks at Lakers: Game thread

Los Angeles–It’s the usual starters for the Hawks. Steve Blake (ribs) is active for the Lakers.

  • Jason Collins (elbow) has joined the team here but Larry Drew said it’s doubtful he will play on the trip. That means there’s a pretty good chance Erick Dampier will stick around for a second 10-day contract.
  • Collins said the elbow is feeling a lot better and has a checkup with his doctor tomorrow. He’s eager to play. “Especially a game like tonight,” he said.
  • Kirk Hinrich said he “feels great” physically and sounds as if he’s ready for more minutes: “I’m just staying patient.”
  • Hawks players gathered around Josh Smith’s IPad to watch Knicks underdog sensation Jeremy Lin hit a game-winning 3 at Toronto.

Haven’t seen Josh make a right handed shot in a long time.

Good overplay by Josh on the last possession.

Don’t let the door hit you on the way out. Does that mean you will stop posting on these blogs? Haha – big lou

but then there wouldn’t be anyone to call you out when you say something stupid or factually incorrect. we can’t have that now can we?

How does a guy who can’t break 60% from the free throw line (15 ft away with nobody guarding him) shoot so many 20 footers?

Hawks still running this high post nonsense taking the ball out of Teague’s hands even though he’s the Hawks’ only mismatch in this game.

Fundamentally sound big men. Great footwork. One would almost think that Kareem had been working with these guys during practice. Uh, never mind.

I wonder if the Hawks wouldn’t be better off with Dampier AND Zaza on the floor. Zaza on Gasol, Dampier on Bynum, Marvin on the bench.

Najeh, you’re almost right bout gettin Zaza and Damp on at the same time… I’d go with Zaza/Damp on Bynum but get Ol’ Shank ‘em (Ivan) on Pau cuz the Spaniard doesn’t respond well to tough and scary dudes.

teague = no leadership skills.

passive. sometimes downright stupid mistakes. but very explosive when aggressive. he just doesn’t know how to stay involved without scoring.

Astro Joe

February 14th, 2012

Actually, LD is subbing Teague around the 4:00 mark of every first quarter regardless of what is happening. That is when Jeff gets his rest. He and Marvin leave together but Teague comes back before Marvin. LD doesn’t seem to believe that the game situation dictate his sub patterns.

Hawks seem to be taking exponentially more challenging shots than the Lakers.
