Updated: Pacers at Atlanta Hawks Game Thread

Coach Larry Drew said there will be lineup changes for tonight’s game against the Pacers. Drew said Tuesday he was considering ways, including lineup changes, to get his team to play with more energy. He wants the Hawks to get their ‘mojo’ and ’swagger’ back as they have lost the past three at home.

The Hawks have lost three straight, all at home. They haven’t lost four straight home games since 2007, part of a seven straight losses.

Wednesday morning, Drew was still concerned with the Hawks lack of response to offensive runs by the opposition. The Suns used a runs between the first and second quarters and to end the third to build a 22-point lead Monday.

“The way we have responded to runs,” Drew said of his biggest disappointment during the current three-game skid. “I’ve told the guys we have to get past the point of when teams do make runs at us feeling like the game is over, particularly when there is so much basketball to be played. I gave them the example of [Tuesday] Indiana’s game with Utah. Utah went down by 22 in the third quarter and came back to take the lead in the fourth quarter. The game is never over until the final horn blows. You have to, hopefully, withstand runs but you can’t get discouraged when teams make runs. …

“Under no circumstances can you hang your head when a team makes a run. You have to respond like a professional.”

Big man update: According to Drew, he expects a signing at center in the next few days.

“I think in the next few days we will have another player who we can add to give us some help at the five position,” Drew said.

Drew confirmed that the team worked out Kenyon Martin before the free agent signed with the Clippers. Drew also said the team has not decided at the direction they will go with a signee.

“We’ve talked about both scenarios as far as a 10-day [contract] and bringing someone in for the year,” Drew said. “We haven’t made a decision on it yet. We just talked about the pros and cons of both. It’s just a matter of going through the list of names.”

For Larry Drew I would like to quote ” Denzel Washington” from ” Training Day “..

” ITS CHESS NOT CHECKERS MUTHER F***** ”

You see the Pacers coach sub his starters out with fresh bodies..maybe you should bring in somebody else besides Hinrich…how about sub out Marvin who is 2-7 ????

Hinrich: 10-11 ATL 24 22 28.6 0.432 0.421 0.667 0.3 1.9 2.2 3.3 0.8 0.3 1.54 2.75 8.6

Teague: 11-12 ATL 25 25 33.0 0.484 0.447 0.723 0.4 1.7 2.1 5.0 1.8 0.4 2.2 2.0 12.6

Please tell me where Hinrich’s starts are better last year then Teague’s stats this year? Please don’t tell me you were comparing to Teague’s stats last year in regular season.

Big Lou,

The Hawks strategy toward D12 was the only smart thing that Larry Drew did last season. They did not double Dwight at all. It was almost like a rope-a-dope strategy in the playoffs. Dwight was so tired from scoring all the time that he wore himself down. But the Magic as a whole could not beat us.

if ivan can hold his own against dwight then we might have a shot in orlando. otherwise it is three losses in a row. hopefully we can get the first win tonight in february. still hoping for 6-7 in feb but fearing the worst case scenario of 3-10.

meanwhile, j lin the second coming point guard good enough to keep bibby on the bench is 20-10 tonight doing nash numbers aganst walls and the wiz with amare and melo out. that might have been an assumed win by some folks. they might be getting well with the harvard point living on his brothers couch.

LD is an idiot…he subs players into the game wayyyyyyyyyyyyy too late..majority of the good coaches will sub their bench in around the 6 minute mark of the third quarter…LD plays his entire starting unit almost the entire 3rd quarter and then subs in the entire bench…

that is such a playstation..xbox..nba2k rookie move…
