Coach Larry Drew said there will be lineup changes for tonight’s game against the Pacers. Drew said Tuesday he was considering ways, including lineup changes, to get his team to play with more energy. He wants the Hawks to get their ‘mojo’ and ’swagger’ back as they have lost the past three at home.
The Hawks have lost three straight, all at home. They haven’t lost four straight home games since 2007, part of a seven straight losses.
Wednesday morning, Drew was still concerned with the Hawks lack of response to offensive runs by the opposition. The Suns used a runs between the first and second quarters and to end the third to build a 22-point lead Monday.
“The way we have responded to runs,” Drew said of his biggest disappointment during the current three-game skid. “I’ve told the guys we have to get past the point of when teams do make runs at us feeling like the game is over, particularly when there is so much basketball to be played. I gave them the example of [Tuesday] Indiana’s game with Utah. Utah went down by 22 in the third quarter and came back to take the lead in the fourth quarter. The game is never over until the final horn blows. You have to, hopefully, withstand runs but you can’t get discouraged when teams make runs. …
“Under no circumstances can you hang your head when a team makes a run. You have to respond like a professional.”
Big man update: According to Drew, he expects a signing at center in the next few days.
“I think in the next few days we will have another player who we can add to give us some help at the five position,” Drew said.
Drew confirmed that the team worked out Kenyon Martin before the free agent signed with the Clippers. Drew also said the team has not decided at the direction they will go with a signee.
“We’ve talked about both scenarios as far as a 10-day [contract] and bringing someone in for the year,” Drew said. “We haven’t made a decision on it yet. We just talked about the pros and cons of both. It’s just a matter of going through the list of names.”

I’m telling you, Najeh. They are going to blow out the Hawks. Remember when we had to double Howard before(before Collins)? They had open threes and killed us all game.

Maybe if Marvin can knock something down our offense wouldn’t be so stagnant. If all Marvin is going to do is stand on the 3 point line every possession, why not just start a true 3 point shooter in Vlad Rad?

@Big Lou: We never HAD to double Howard. Woodson was just stupid enough to keep doing it. (It also didn’t help that the Magic were on fire that post-season)

If they double Dwight, I completely agree with you. I just don’t think they are dumb enough to do that. They haven’t consistently doubled anyone all year. I don’t know why they would start now.

I hope your right. I really do. This IS LD we are talking about, though. If they let Howard go off and guard the three, they will win easily.
