Updated: Pacers at Atlanta Hawks Game Thread
Coach Larry Drew said there will be lineup changes for tonight’s game against the Pacers. Drew said Tuesday he was considering ways, including lineup changes, to get his team to play with more energy. He wants the Hawks to get their ‘mojo’ and ’swagger’ back as they have lost the past three at home.
The Hawks have lost three straight, all at home. They haven’t lost four straight home games since 2007, part of a seven straight losses.
Wednesday morning, Drew was still concerned with the Hawks lack of response to offensive runs by the opposition. The Suns used a runs between the first and second quarters and to end the third to build a 22-point lead Monday.
“The way we have responded to runs,” Drew said of his biggest disappointment during the current three-game skid. “I’ve told the guys we have to get past the point of when teams do make runs at us feeling like the game is over, particularly when there is so much basketball to be played. I gave them the example of [Tuesday] Indiana’s game with Utah. Utah went down by 22 in the third quarter and came back to take the lead in the fourth quarter. The game is never over until the final horn blows. You have to, hopefully, withstand runs but you can’t get discouraged when teams make runs. …
“Under no circumstances can you hang your head when a team makes a run. You have to respond like a professional.”
Big man update: According to Drew, he expects a signing at center in the next few days.
“I think in the next few days we will have another player who we can add to give us some help at the five position,” Drew said.
Drew confirmed that the team worked out Kenyon Martin before the free agent signed with the Clippers. Drew also said the team has not decided at the direction they will go with a signee.
“We’ve talked about both scenarios as far as a 10-day [contract] and bringing someone in for the year,” Drew said. “We haven’t made a decision on it yet. We just talked about the pros and cons of both. It’s just a matter of going through the list of names.”

Surprisingly good defense from our big men tonight, it isn’t that the Pacers haven’t been trying to go to the paint it’s that the Hawks have been doing a good job to keep them out of it.

it is going to take many bodies playing well during the season. why do folks seem to get off on tearing down on a player when he does poorly and not being pleased when he does well or vice versa? a good fan is one who balances the two, not always thinking a player is great when he has an off night nor be pleased when he plays poorly. i like to see all of them play at their best, when they dont then i dont hesitate to point it out, if they make the play i admire the effort.
anyway who are these guys in the white uniforms? where were they the last three nights?

Hawks are frontrunners….when the going gets tough we fold. If we have early success…all is well….but if they struggle at the beginning they will tank the rest of the game.

Biggest difference between tonight and the last three games, to me, is that the Hawks won the center battle. Zaza is playing a great game on both ends. Interior defense led to the Pacers turnovers and bad shots that sparked the Hawks’ transition game and in turned sparked the runs the Hawks had in that first half.

First learn to spell “facts” Second your ” props” are misleading because Jeff Teague has been the starter since Kirk has come back, so that below .500 is more representative of Teague than Kirk is getting back in playing shape now and its time for Teague to sit next to Al, on the bench.

luke did you hear we dont really need al? yeah luke, the dregs come out when they think it is safe to throw up on themselves. bottom feeders, like catfish. it is amusing because there is no content to their rants and how you discriminate the two. interesting study out this week, racists are mentally challenged and it goes both ways. simple beliefs for simple people. same goes here or in folks that are extremists in any way, beware.
