Coach Larry Drew said there will be lineup changes for tonight’s game against the Pacers. Drew said Tuesday he was considering ways, including lineup changes, to get his team to play with more energy. He wants the Hawks to get their ‘mojo’ and ’swagger’ back as they have lost the past three at home.
The Hawks have lost three straight, all at home. They haven’t lost four straight home games since 2007, part of a seven straight losses.
Wednesday morning, Drew was still concerned with the Hawks lack of response to offensive runs by the opposition. The Suns used a runs between the first and second quarters and to end the third to build a 22-point lead Monday.
“The way we have responded to runs,” Drew said of his biggest disappointment during the current three-game skid. “I’ve told the guys we have to get past the point of when teams do make runs at us feeling like the game is over, particularly when there is so much basketball to be played. I gave them the example of [Tuesday] Indiana’s game with Utah. Utah went down by 22 in the third quarter and came back to take the lead in the fourth quarter. The game is never over until the final horn blows. You have to, hopefully, withstand runs but you can’t get discouraged when teams make runs. …
“Under no circumstances can you hang your head when a team makes a run. You have to respond like a professional.”
Big man update: According to Drew, he expects a signing at center in the next few days.
“I think in the next few days we will have another player who we can add to give us some help at the five position,” Drew said.
Drew confirmed that the team worked out Kenyon Martin before the free agent signed with the Clippers. Drew also said the team has not decided at the direction they will go with a signee.
“We’ve talked about both scenarios as far as a 10-day [contract] and bringing someone in for the year,” Drew said. “We haven’t made a decision on it yet. We just talked about the pros and cons of both. It’s just a matter of going through the list of names.”

Teague is being pressured by coach to be overly aggressive in his play, so now that he does it, out comes Teague and in comes Hinrick. Yeah, the shots are falling now, but Larry’s happy that Teague isn’t in the game.

Nice pass by Zaza. Why the hell does Joe do this? He shows up for 2 games and balls his head off, only to disappear for 4 games after that

Soon the jumpshots will stop falling and the game will get close again, especially with Kirk ‘no penetration’.

Like it or not, Smoove has a pretty bad post game. He simply doesn’t know how to maneuver in the post, so he decides to play his game outside – in, not the other way around

Kirk is aggressive on D, I’ll give him that, but he is not quick enough to where he can afford to be that aggressive. Sometimes the aggression pays off in pushing the opposing PG farther back behind the 3 point line, and sometimes it results in Kirk getting burned. He’s the Asante Samuel of point guards.

As soon as Teague came out of the game, the Hawks started balling. You Hinrich hater have no merit, he plays his game just as well as Teague

Good to see him knocking down his shots, but let’s not get too carried away. Dribble penetration from Teague is going to result in good shots a lot more frequently than mid range jumpers from Kirk. The Hawks’ run was sparked by good team defense, which really started with the inside players (Zaza and Josh).
