Atlanta Hawks at Hornets: Game thread

Jeff Teague will start at point guard for the Hawks tonight against the Hornets. Teague said he felt “fine” despite the sprained ankle that limited him during Friday’s win against Pistons.

“Jeff is a go,” coach Larry Drew said before the game. “He was moving around on it pretty good yesterday. He hasn’t mentioned that it is bothering him to the point that we have to limit him. We’ll keep an eye on him. Right now, he is a full go.”

Drew said he would split reserve minutes between Kirk Hinrich and Jannero Pargo.

“He has been playing really well for us,” Drew said of Pargo. “That’s why we got him.”

Hinrich, who played 31 minutes against the Pistons after Teague left late in the third quarter, said he is working to regain form as quickly as possible.

“I want to get my game back,” Hinrich said. “I feel rusty and I just want to help any way I can right now and get my rhythm back.”

* Austin Barker, a 17-year-old high school student from Mississippi scheduled for a bone marrow transplant this week, was the guest of Hawks trainer Wally Blase Sunday.

Barker, who is at Tulane Children’s Hospital, attended the game with his father and two friends. He received a hat signed by the Hawks.

The non-profit organization Sunshine Kids brought Baker’s situation to Blase’s attention. Blase worked with the Hornets to organize the outing.

Never understood how Ariza is so bad at shooting free throws when he has always been a decent 3 point shooter.

Wish they had done a better job holding on to that 1st quarter lead — they got outscored 29-19 after the 27-6 start — but an 11 point lead on the road is fine. Come out strong to start the 2nd half and hopefully the starters can get some rest in the 4th quarter.

Hawks for real yawl! I’m believing what I’m seeing. Dominance with a real nice bench. Wassup with Vlad though, coach need to keep him in the mix and sustain his confidence, we wil need him down the stretch and in the playoffs, so dont forget about him.

Oh yeah, Lon Kruger and Terry Stotts are exactly what the Hawks need to win a championship.

“Same play run by the Hornets every time, and every time they get a wide open free throw jumper or an uncovered guy cutting down the lane. It is just a pick and roll. Shouldn’t bet hat hard.”

Zaza lacks the foot speed to hedge and recover. Monty is smart enough to take advantage. Hawks need to not hedge so hard, and make Jack or Vasquez prove they can hit the jumper.

mike fratello was here the whole 80’s with nique ‘nem. mike was such a control freak, he had the cavaliers plying snail ball because they had no athletes with craig ehlo and danny ferry. they scored like 50 points oer game and the defense was stifling. very FUGLY to watch all those games in super slow motion. LOL

LMAO @ Tommy Heinson . . . “These officials tonight . . . they should FIRE them”.

He’s mad because the Cavs have scored 10 straight to cut the lead to 1. And they scrapped like hell to get a loose ball and retain possession. Now the Cavs have the ball and can hold for the final shot.

Heinson is the ultimate homer announcer.

Najeh your telling me you like drew or woodson. They are great teachers and even have good systems but they cant think under pressure. The fact that he plays collins over vlad drives me crazy, we are not even playing a big that can score big in the post. Vlad would pull O out of the middle and open it up for Joe. Good point on Lon and stotts they were terrible.

i’ll never forget, doc rivers walked the ball up every play because his eyes were glued to mike fratello the whole time. the play didnt begin until doc got to mid-court … mike would walk doc up the court evry single play.

nique would be under the basket resting and waiting for an alley oop. real fun stuff.

He missed a dunk and a semi contested lay up.

Both pretty makeable bUckets.

It’s z recurring theme so it’s difficult not to notice and complain.
