Atlanta Hawks at Hornets: Game thread
Jeff Teague will start at point guard for the Hawks tonight against the Hornets. Teague said he felt “fine” despite the sprained ankle that limited him during Friday’s win against Pistons.
“Jeff is a go,” coach Larry Drew said before the game. “He was moving around on it pretty good yesterday. He hasn’t mentioned that it is bothering him to the point that we have to limit him. We’ll keep an eye on him. Right now, he is a full go.”
Drew said he would split reserve minutes between Kirk Hinrich and Jannero Pargo.
“He has been playing really well for us,” Drew said of Pargo. “That’s why we got him.”
Hinrich, who played 31 minutes against the Pistons after Teague left late in the third quarter, said he is working to regain form as quickly as possible.
“I want to get my game back,” Hinrich said. “I feel rusty and I just want to help any way I can right now and get my rhythm back.”
* Austin Barker, a 17-year-old high school student from Mississippi scheduled for a bone marrow transplant this week, was the guest of Hawks trainer Wally Blase Sunday.
Barker, who is at Tulane Children’s Hospital, attended the game with his father and two friends. He received a hat signed by the Hawks.
The non-profit organization Sunshine Kids brought Baker’s situation to Blase’s attention. Blase worked with the Hornets to organize the outing.

“What do you guys think the ceiling for this team is this yr as is? 2nd round? Conference Finals? NBA Finals?”
If Al was healthy and/or if they can acquire a solid C, I think they can make it to the conference finals, which would require beating either the Heat or Bulls in a series. I think they can beat either of those teams, especially if they have home court, but I am not so confident that they can beat both one after another.
As currently constructed, though, I think they lose in the 2nd round again. But I’m willing to reconsider if they play well when the schedule gets tougher in February.

Al doesnt add much to this team. hes just another big body. He doent help this team. I heard that his career average is the playoffs is 10pts pergame and he almost always disappears in big games. If the hawks had a real center they could make a serious run but they will never do it with Al.

I will give Zaza credit, he has played well on this trip. I am still not confident he can sustain this level of play against better teams, but we’ll see. But even if he can, he still can’t play 48 minutes, and neither Ivan nor Collins should be playing center against good teams in the playoffs.

@ Busta Rhyme if Al doesn’t go down we’d probably be 10-0 on this stint since he went out with the injury.
Plus I’ve already said this, but the only games we’ve truly lost were the Spurs, Rockets, and 76ers.
So we should actually be 19-3 right now, but we’re not so I’ll get off my soap box lol.
