Atlanta Hawks at Hornets: Game thread

Jeff Teague will start at point guard for the Hawks tonight against the Hornets. Teague said he felt “fine” despite the sprained ankle that limited him during Friday’s win against Pistons.

“Jeff is a go,” coach Larry Drew said before the game. “He was moving around on it pretty good yesterday. He hasn’t mentioned that it is bothering him to the point that we have to limit him. We’ll keep an eye on him. Right now, he is a full go.”

Drew said he would split reserve minutes between Kirk Hinrich and Jannero Pargo.

“He has been playing really well for us,” Drew said of Pargo. “That’s why we got him.”

Hinrich, who played 31 minutes against the Pistons after Teague left late in the third quarter, said he is working to regain form as quickly as possible.

“I want to get my game back,” Hinrich said. “I feel rusty and I just want to help any way I can right now and get my rhythm back.”

* Austin Barker, a 17-year-old high school student from Mississippi scheduled for a bone marrow transplant this week, was the guest of Hawks trainer Wally Blase Sunday.

Barker, who is at Tulane Children’s Hospital, attended the game with his father and two friends. He received a hat signed by the Hawks.

The non-profit organization Sunshine Kids brought Baker’s situation to Blase’s attention. Blase worked with the Hornets to organize the outing.

You know it’s time to come home when you run out of clean draws, shirts and a neck tie!

Should be able to get to the paint easily, finishing is the issue

By the way, Zaza has a higher postseason turnover rate than Chris Kaman over the last three seasons.

Ivan can’t be giving up offensive boards to Amir Johnson when his only purpose is to be an energy guy.

Joe was WIDE open on that 3.

Kind of a sloppy quarter, but if they cut down on turnovers they should comfortably win.

Should have been up by 10. Josh looks tired to me, he has played his heart out. All these games are catching up to us fellas.

We have played more than any other team so far. We need ’bout 3 days off in a row with no practices yawl.

Kirk gets burned on the screen by Calderon. The only thing Kirk does better than Teague is getting around screens, and he’s not even doing that well in this game. And yet Teague got taken out after 7 minutes and Kirk has been in since.

“NBA.com released their weekly “Power Rankings” on Monday morning, and the Atlanta Hawks made the biggest jump up the ladder by moving from 10th to fourth.”

It seems that this team is a much better core without Al. The cohesion has been phenomenal. They haven’t missed Al at all.

Which begs the question why spend any more time trying to develop Al who is turning out to be not not only injury prone but a problem in the locker room. finally Al doesn’t like playing his position and when asked about the possibility of being traded remarked ” I think that will be very interesting. ”

Since Al has injured himself and left the locker room the spirit among the hawks players has risen. starting out at 7-5 with Al the Hawks have run 8-2 with out Al leading to the rise in the polls and the opinion of the experts.

As far as I’m concerned this team can and will survive they’ve da** near beaten up on the suppose top 2 teams that’s going to be in the ECF this year, and I’m sure they’ll handle Orlando and Boston it’s just Pacers and 76ers that worry me for the east crown surprisingly.
