Jeff Teague will start at point guard for the Hawks tonight against the Hornets. Teague said he felt “fine” despite the sprained ankle that limited him during Friday’s win against Pistons.
“Jeff is a go,” coach Larry Drew said before the game. “He was moving around on it pretty good yesterday. He hasn’t mentioned that it is bothering him to the point that we have to limit him. We’ll keep an eye on him. Right now, he is a full go.”
Drew said he would split reserve minutes between Kirk Hinrich and Jannero Pargo.
“He has been playing really well for us,” Drew said of Pargo. “That’s why we got him.”
Hinrich, who played 31 minutes against the Pistons after Teague left late in the third quarter, said he is working to regain form as quickly as possible.
“I want to get my game back,” Hinrich said. “I feel rusty and I just want to help any way I can right now and get my rhythm back.”
* Austin Barker, a 17-year-old high school student from Mississippi scheduled for a bone marrow transplant this week, was the guest of Hawks trainer Wally Blase Sunday.
Barker, who is at Tulane Children’s Hospital, attended the game with his father and two friends. He received a hat signed by the Hawks.
The non-profit organization Sunshine Kids brought Baker’s situation to Blase’s attention. Blase worked with the Hornets to organize the outing.

Sautee, I think it had a lot to do with maturity issues. But I wasn’t there so that is clearl speculation. Something about his past comments, however, suggest that he is a young 20-something year-old still finding his way. Shocking I know, we often expect these guys to come out with the mental and emotional stability to immediately become an All-Star. As I’ve said before, you can’t always expedite the rippening process.
Strickland, I agree. i think we stand pat until closer to the trade deadline (I hope so at least).
Still have no issue with our GM publicly showing faith in his current roster while (hopefully) quietly looking for roster upgrades. No need to announce his trade attentions to the media… his fellow GMs know what’s up.

Najeh I would only trade Joe for Kobe because Kobe has fewer years on his contract than Joe. Otherwise, Kobe is an exceptionally selfish and badly declining player as evidenced by his team’s record. Kobe has Bynum and Gasol. Joe has Zaza and Collins. Do the math.

Kevin I understand you want to upgrade the center position but Kaman has missed significant time due to injuries in three of the last four years. He’s not enough of an upgrade over Zaza that it’s worth the risk of letting proven durability go and throwing another productive rotation player in the deal.

Teague is a nerd. Josh is a major player. Screw teague. Tell teague if he turns the ball over 1 more time or if he doesnt learn how to distribute the ball better we are going to trade his azz. Teague is a scrub.
And to trade Al horford for Kaman is a waste of time. they both play about the same so whats the point? In fact Al Kaman and Zaza are all about the same. What the freakin point? this may be the stupidest blog site ever.

When this city decides to prove they are playing in the same league as the contenders, you will see some support. We have been here year after year, and truthfully, we are at this juncture by no choice. Last year’s 3rd string PG is now starting, and no one can get Marvin out of the lineup. Oh yeah, we lost our all-star C and we’re really not in a need to replace him either….okay, makes sense to me.

“are you thinking that once Al is cleared, he won’t help much this year?”
I don’t know if he will be able to help or not, but I don’t think the Hawks can assume that he’ll play. They need to be proactive and make plans for the rest of this season under the assumption that he won’t be back. Even if he is fully healthy when the playoffs start, he’ll still have to get into game shape and reintegrate himself with the flow of the offense, and that can’t be done on the fly.

Buddy, I can’t imagine that Marvin would be called ‘another productive rotation player’…..the times are a changing for sure.
Nothing to worry about though; I know Sund doesn’t have it in him to make such a move.

Ok, Najeh, all of that makes sense, but you know that Sund and any of the talking heads are thinking that Al will be back in full force before the playoffs start. That’s why there is little concern on their part, at least in the public eye.
We wouldn’t want anyone to see Sund panic or make a hasty move.

Yeah, great comparison. Kobe has (the next two best players on his team). Joe has (two backups).
I don’t think even northcyde would decline that trade, and he’s the biggest Joe fan on this blog. Even I like Joe — regardless of how I may come across at times — and I would do that trade in a heartbeat. More importantly, the Lakers would laugh Sund off the phone if he called them up with that trade proposal.

I have to laugh at the troll. He loves Josh so much that he’ll defend him against Kevin Love, saying that Love is bigger and heavier, but if it comes to Al Horford having to play against bigger, heavier players, it’s all Al’s fault. Also, he’s all over anyone who says a negative word about Josh as “hater this, and hater that”, while he couldn’t hate on Horford any harder. I think he’s fixated on Horford in a dangerous way. Ever notice how he can’t seem to not mention him, even though Al hasn’t played in a month. He talks on and on about how Horford fans beat down on Josh to make Al look better. That’s bull, the truth is, that he beats on Horford to make Josh try to look better. And he makes up locker room stories to glorify Josh when he has no idea what might or most likely what not anybody said. Like I said a dangerous fixation.

as far as the question on teague vs rose? i dont remember teague saying he let his team down when he missed a few critical free throws that cost the hawks a game like rose did and follow up with a 35 and 9 game the next night. not saying i expect it of teague or he is less of a person it it just not many players have the special physical ability to do what rose did tonight on cue.
george karl held his team together while the melo circus went on around him whereas svg is not able to get the same results of the magic to play as pros.

If Teague had gotten more consistent PT last year, I don’t think he would have played as good as he is playing now. But I think his potential and gradual improvement would have earned the starting job, and allowed the hawks to bring Bibby off the bench, keep JC2 and their first round pick.

So do you think its time for mass hysteria in Orlando now?
4 straight losses, which include 1)scoring 58 points at Boston 2) Blowing a 27 pt lead at home to Boston 3) Lose by 20+ to the worst team in the West (Hornets) and 4) Score 69 points in loss to the Sixers.
I think the GM and HC are good candidates to be fired this offseason.

Would Make Sense: Atlanta: With Al Horford out for the season the Hawks need someone in the middle, and Kaman would certainly help. But New Orleans would have to take at least some salary back — like Zaza Pachulia, who has a year left on his deal — or, maybe, Marvin Williams, along with an expiring contract like Kirk Hinrich’s and Atlanta’s first-round pick — which wouldn’t be that good, given the Hawks’ likelihood to be in the playoffs. But the Hawks have been reluctant to get anywhere near the luxury tax, and unless they were just renting Kaman for the rest of this season, it would be hard to re-sign him and avoid exceeding the threshold next year. Should the Hawks:
1. Trade Marvin Williams and Zaza Pachulia to New Orleans for Chris Kaman.
2. Trade Kirk Hinrich and Zaza Pachulia to New Orleans for Chris Kaman.
3. Realize that Zaza Pachulia is a healthier Chris Kaman who scores a little less and hold what they got.

One other point, im sure most of you have never seen this name im using, Im not a troll, but im just acting like at troll. Its the Horford hater thats the troll. I dont think he gets it, We are sworn to defend Al, because he cant defend his self, (that self destructing muddeer fcker) neither can he defend the post. So you must understand Although it might seem like Im a troll, well this is actually a troll trap and Im a troll trapping Muddeer fcker.
Now back to my logic about how to best help Al keep a job.(did you see that mudder fcker self destruct? What the hell was he doing?)The best way to help Al keep a job is A)attach Josh. I know what you are thinking. Basketball Jones is a troll, and thats true, but attacking Josh will help because we have to get rid of somebody, Josh is the power forward and Al wants the position. I agree that he needs to be removed from the center spot cuz we cant have any more of that self destructing trick to avoid being traded chit from Al.So to make this work we need to convince the public that Josh is not working, then trade him, then put Al at the 4. I know its not going to be easy to convince the public but hey, do i look smart to you? Fck. Thats my point!
Also thats why Ive been talking with Bob Weiss about how to get this chit crackin. Bob and I have come up with a plan to spring OJ and put him and midcourt during the hawks next home game…. when Josh starts that fast brake chit me bob and OJ will be there…
