On Jordan Crawford;
Sund stole Kirk Hinrich from Washington.
He unloaded Bibby & pucked up a player who is coveted
around the league.
Capn Kirk played hurt alot last season with us.
(even before the play-offs)
We will be able to re-sign CK at a reduced price,
maybe an ext = a better deal than Jamal.
All yawl that called for a better defender than Jamal;
here he is !
Jordan Crawford will not start for Washington this yr,
nor does he defend.
enough on that.

My good friend – good to hear from you.

Motion offense – (SteveW will back me on this):
* does not or should not cause one to become a 3 pt shooter.
* it should cause a player to learn to move without the ball.
* That would benefit Al quite a bit;
true he is not graceful with the ball.
yes, he is a good face up shooter,
however, becoming adept @ moving w/o the ball
would get him open around the hoop.
* It should benefit Joe, by extending his career.
Joe would decrease the wear & tear on his body
by allowing others to set him up for easier shots.
* No one should be hanging out anywhere;
as “motion” implies “moving” = “movement”.
meaning players cutting, flashing, screening, slipping, etc.
but not hanging. Otherwise, it would be called:
“hanging” offense.

gdad, the only problem with the hinrich trade is it should have been done sooner and we dont have a number one draft pick. knowing the basg, that was a financial plan to give it up anyway. shoot it may have been one of the things we forced on them rather than them pulling on us. sad but very true that we cant afford no 1 draft picks.

Smoove lost 30 lbs over the offseason? Yikes, now I know where this is headed…back to the SF role and Marvin may lose more minutes with this news.
We are in such a state where we are hanging out there once again with no progress moving forward. And despite what everyone says, our 3 guard rotation of JJ/Teague/Kirk will be far from one of the best in the league. I don’t see Kirk regaining his youth any time soon.

Our backcourt is limited. Our frontcourt is small. Our coach is average and our talent is not as athletic/versatile as we have been sold on.

We sound like a .500 team.

Agreed KevinM, this team with Sund and Larry may even slide backwards toward a 7th or even 8th seed..With a 1st round elimination! Not feeling this at all…………..Blah Blah Blah………….

Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Marc Spears report that Chris Paul has told the Hornets he will not re-sign and will seek a trade to the Knicks.

Huh. And all this time I thought all those magic system changes the owners got were going to improve competitive balance.

Lazy Eye!

Grand-Daddy you don’t need all them pills. I like you just the way you are.

But, seriously though – these lazy players aren’t gonna’ run in circles without the ball. They make way too much money for that.

The Reggie Miller’s of the past era are long gone. I’m sitting here trying to think of one or two players today that runs without the ball.

Maybe Ray Allen – he does that, Steve Nash runs with and without the ball & he gives it up too.

Najeh, evidently the players held out so they could win a handful of players (like Paul & Howard) the chance to dictate where they play BEFORE they are FAs. This is what the Union wanted and the owners caved in.

So the health news from the past week or so is interesting. Marvin has back surgery and his dad says that he is anxious to get back on track. Joe dropped some weight and Josh dropped a good bit of weight. So with guys who will enter the season a little more fit than usual (and Teague hopefully earning consistent playing time), could we see a team that plays at a faster tempo and doesn’t insist on halfcourt ball?

Mary, Josh childress used to prowl the baseline looking for the pass so that he could shoot around 58% from the field and bloggers could lament that his jumper was broken… did I mention that he was shooting around 58%? I always thought the purpose was to score, not to have a picture-perfect jumper that was less efficient than 58%. I bet Dale Ellis, Jeff Malone or Glenn Rice ever hit 58% of their shots in a season.

It was rumored last year the CP3 wanted to play in New York once he heard Carmelo was looking to head East!

CP3 will flourish in the watered down East for sure! He knows he has a much better shot at an NBA finals playing in New York…

No superstar FA in their right mind would come to play for the Hawks?

Business as usual with the Hawks, just a write off for ownership..

The streak will continue: 45 years and have not sniffed an ECF much less a Championship!

The more things stay the same…….sad too sad….

I dont know if there are that many teams interested in Al horford. Where are all those coaches who are adding him to the allstar team? It doesnt appear that there is much interest in him. Perhaps they secretly know what the fans express openly.

Judging by the many commercials Josh is making he is in with the in crowd of the elite NBA players. That pick up game with KG and DH pretty much makes it clear that Josh is legit. I wish we can get Al into a commercial or two. That way we can increase his market ability. Apparently no team is expressing interest in Al.

Why is it that Al is not marketable nor part of the in crowd among players like Josh is?

I know Teague didn’t do well from 16-23 feet – 28% Yuck!

But from the 3, he was better than Josh, Jamal, JJ, Marvin – 37.5% for Teague.

And he shot well at Wake

And from 10-15 feet he was better than: Stephen Curry, Evan Turner, Brandon Jennings, Russell Westbrook, Kyle Korver, Rodney Stuckey, JRue Holiday, Brandon Roy, Rip Hamilton, Aaron Brooks, Raymond Felton, Ramon Sessions, Jameer Nelson, Mike Bibby, Jason and Q Richardson, Jodie Meeks, Dragic, Ben Gordon, Lou Williams, Rajon Rondo, Mike Conley, Kirk Hinrich, John Wall, Iggy, and Landry Fields to name a few

Big Dog, Horford played for the Dominican Republic team during the off-season. That may have something to do with why he wasn’t making commercials, he was trying to advance his national team in the big tournament (along with Villanueva and Garcia from SacTown). Plus, if Sund announced that he wanted to trade Horford, you can trust that there would be interest. Josh is running off at the mouth about wanting out, we’ve not heard that Al wants to leave the city.

Even from the dreaded 16-23 feet range, Teague still shot the same as Wesley Matthews, and better than Bogans, Jack, Duhon, Q Richardson, and Josh Childress among Guards.

But yes, I hope he is developing his 16-23 foot game – he’s got the 3 and the 10-15 foot game decent, but of course, could still improve there also.

Steve, I don’t think anyone claimed that dude is the worse shooter in the league, but as a 2nd year player (and what 2nd year player doesn’t have something they need to do better), he could use a better jumpshot. Especially given his quickness, teams will simply play off of him and dare him to shoot (much like they do with other ultra-quick guards with shaky jumpers). He’ll get the Josh Smith treatment… and we all know what that looks like.

Jeff Teague was also 17th among all G’s with 40 or more games played in shooting percentage from 3-9 feet. JJ was 5th

When you are a super star BRI is not the only source of money there is. Can you say, ” Endorsements?” Besides New York is New York.

Many players have chosen the Pursuit of HappY-ness over money. Why, because money can’t buy you happiness!

Najeh, give it two years and Chris Paul will not be able to demand where he plays. The parts of the deal restricting player movement will be phased in over the next couple of years. I, for one, am happy to see it.

And, F Chris Paul, too, by the way. By making his intentions public, he has basically crapped on any leverage the Hornets had. I hope they trade him to Sacramento for a bag of balls. Chris Paul is just as big of a$$clown as James and Wade. No wonder they all get along so well.

From ESPN.com. They must have been listening to AJ;

(3)The unspoken truth in the corridors of the Hawks’ offices is that saving their amnesty clause as an insurance policy for Joe Johnson’s gargantuan contract is their smartest play.

Although there can be no conceivable motivation left within the organization to try to camouflage the grave Williams mistakes (drafting him and then extending him) of the past — since the guy (Billy Knight) who drafted Williams ahead of Chris Paul when Paul wanted to land with the Hawks is long gone — immediately releasing the No. 2 overall pick from 2005 creates no cap space for Atlanta. So it’s better to bypass amnesty in the short term in case Johnson starts to seriously slip. .

Really Broussard, Marvin and Teague is enough for CP3? Wow, no way New Orleans doesn’t get a package closer to Carmelo than that.

I still like Rondo better because we definitely need defense for this team and a leader. I think CP3’s better days are behind him and we can’t afford his demands.

CP3 for Marvin huh? No one would have seen that coming? What a disaster of a draft for Hawks’ fans.

Given the ability to waive players, I’d sign Dasagna Diop to a 2-year deal worth maybe $1M/season (a little more than the bare minimum) if he doesn’t have any structural problems with his body. He should be able to provide Pryzbilla-like production (defense and rebounding) for 12 minutes/game. He will likely get the amnesty treatment from MJ in Charlotte.

(BTW, with Josh shedding that weight, we will need some bigger bodies to diversify our roster. Benson and Rolle look like the number 11 when they stand side-by-side).

Understood AJ, like I said I would consider.

We get a guy who would actually play C, who actually is a C. Al is fooling all of us being labeled as a C.

But it won’t work if LD and Sund are keeping Smoove at the 3.

All this time, we have needed to resolve the Al or Smoove debate and it still goes on heading into another season. We are in quicksand waiting for progress to be made.
