According to reports in Europe, Hawks guard Pape Sy has signed a one-year contract with BCM Gravelines in his native France that includes an opt-out clause if/when the NBA lockout ends.
An AJC Francophone offered a rough translation of the report from BasketACTU.com:
“Here’s what you’ve been waiting for: Pape Sy is officially from Graveline, closing recruitment for the BCM. . . . Drafted by the Hawks in the second round in 2010, the leader Pape Sy should, however, remain with the BCM only during the lockout because of a clause in his contract. The northern club thus finally found the required money to make this luxury recruitment. . . . Sy will have the chance to silence his many detractors with his real talent level.”
So I guess Sy is viewed as a disappointment in France (and a “luxury recruitment” for Gravelines. The jury is still out on Sy with the Hawks. Presumably Sy could benefit from the youth/thrift movement that seems inevitable for the Hawks if only because the new CBA isn’t likely to provide the kind of relief necessary for them to round out the roster with high-priced vets even if the new owner were inclined to do so.
Sy joins Keith Benson and Magnum Rolle as Hawks players set to play overseas during the lockout.

Amazing how entitled anger shows itself so often in today’s society. See post above… that is the very definition of someone who is angry because life is a struggle for more than just around 25-30% of the population now. Some folk are able to deal with a little adversity while others behave like spoiled brats.

It would be good to know what some of the other Hawks are doing to get in condition and/or improve their basketball skills.

Anyone hear if a Euro team has their eyes on Marvin? Nah, didn’t think so…..Marvin is all about his comfort zone. I can’t wait to see him back solidifyijng his spot with the core.
And like DMB said earlier this summer, is this just a rendition of Groundhog Day?
Would anyone be surprised if JT were in Lexington with his lil bro learning under Calipari?

Al said he would be working on his 3-pt shot (maybe he thinks he can be a better 3-pt shooter than Josh) and post moves.
LD told Teague he needs to work on his 3-pt shot (and I hope he also works on his release).
Marvin is probably learning a foreign language (vava, how do you say “duck” in French?).
Josh is probably working on his 3-pt shots too (he doesnt want to be outdone by Al) and he wants to silence the Hawks fans.
ZaZa is working on a new menu for his restaurant.
I do think JJ and Kirk are putting in the work. Just My $0.02.

So, if I’m to understand the handgun logic correctly and apply it across the board, the reason so many kids are failing in the APS today has nothing to do with peronal responsibility, but has everything to do with the availability of pencils. I didn’t misspell that word; it was the pencil I was holding that misspelled that word. I have owned and been around guns my enitire life and was taught a very healthy respect for them by my father as a child. I have never had one of them kill anything I wasn’t shooting at. Do accidents happen? Certainly, but jets crash, boats sink, and cars wreck. Do we start taking those away from everybody also since accidents with those kill people unnecessarily?

You start levying laws that take guns out of the hands of responsible citizens, and the only ones left with guns are the ones who don’t obey the law to begin with. It is better to have a gun and not need one than to need one and not have one.
