Chicago–If you are skeptical about how much those favored NBA cliches of “energy and effort” factor into winning then perhaps this series has changed your mind a bit. There have been scrums and scraps around the basket on what seems like every loose ball in this series, and I think there’s something to be said for energy and effort in these circumstances.
Defense and rebounding are undervalued as talents, and certainly it’s true that some players can try hard but just don’t have what it takes to be good in those areas. But maybe physically gifted guys can be better at defending and rebounding if they have the zest for it, especially within the team concept.
The Bulls are a good defensive team because they have good defensive players and a sound scheme but what good would any of that be without their single-minded devotion to getting stops and then securing the ball at all costs? Isn’t that energy?
Or is it like Doc Rivers likes to say, that energy is a talent, and so it’s really not helpful to think of it as something separate from “tangible” talent?
It’s pretty obvious the Hawks’ energy level has increased during the playoffs. That has correlated with the Hawks allowing just 101.9 points per 100 possessions in the playoffs, 2.7 points better than during the season, and that’s including the outliers of Game 5 vs. Orlando and Game 3 vs. Chicago.
“I’ve been pleased because I feel like the guys have really bought in to what we are trying to do,” Al said. “It’s never going to be perfect but you can make up for certain mistakes and certain things [with energy] and I feel like we’ve been doing that.”
Certainly sound game plans against Dwight and D-Rose have been major factors in Atlanta’s success. Some favorable matchups have helped, too.
But I’m thinking Atlanta’s energy also has been important–and that’s coming from someone who rolls his eyes when players and coaches (and media types) use that word to explain unexpected performances when there are more obvious reasons.
“We are an energy team,” L.D. said today. “There are times we just come out and we just don’t play that way for some reason. We have the athletes. It’s just a matter of coming out with energy, and I am totally expecting that tonight.”
That’s always the question with the Hawks. Can you expect that tonight? Any night? Jamal summed it up yesterday:
“We’ve shown we can play with anybody, and some nights we can play with nobody. That’s the most frustrating part for us.”
Which version of the Hawks shows up depends on more than just how hard they play. But in the end, when the Hawks and Bulls are fighting for every possession to gain control of this grinding series, maybe that’s will matter the most.
“I expect us to come out and the effort will be there,” Al said. “I feel like we have been played well in this building two games. One night we had a great shooting night; the other night we struggled. But I think our effort was good. That’s my biggest thing. We need to come out and just play hard.”

Wow Mc,
Although it may seem miniscule…you just dropped some sports knowledge with that quote from Doc Rivers. I never really thought of energy as a “talent”…but when I think about it, this could be a great recruiting rubric for scouts (in all professional sports) to use during draft time, and also when looking to sign free agents…especially seeing how cats like Joakim Noah and Josh Smith can effect a ballgame. Thanks for kick’n that piece of knowledge sir!

“The biggest problem is not one person on here can definitely say how we will play tomorrow
3 choices:
1) We play huge and win by 8 (VERY unlikely)
2) We show some tenacity but their shooters are on and we lose by 12 (likely)
3) We lay an egg in the 2nd quarter and lose 99-76
What do you all think?
1, 2, or 3?.”
How many people who actually play for or coach the Hawks would even be able to answer this question accurately? Damien Wilkins thought the Hawks would lose Game 4.

“But I’m thinking Atlanta’s energy also has been important–and that’s coming from someone who rolls his eyes when players and coaches (and media types) use that word to explain unexpected performances when there are more obvious reasons.”
It’s important in this series in particular because the Bulls are an energy team. Yeah, they play good defense because of their scheme, but a big reason they win is also because of the deflections, offensive boards, charges taken, etc. which are primarily a function of energy level, not talent or scheme. In order to beat the Bulls the Hawks have to neutralize the contributions the Bulls get from those factors, which requires playing with energy. They played the Bulls even on the boards (and by my observation played them even on the hustle plays) in their two wins, whereas the Bulls dominated the boards (and to my eyes the hustle plays as well) in the two losses.

“L.D. on pressure: “They are one of the teams that was picked to come out of the East. A win here puts a tremendous amount of pressure on them to go back to Atlanta with us having a chance to close it out. I feel like the pressure is on them.””
Yeah, but if the Bulls win tonight, for obvious reasons the pressure shifts to the Hawks. For that reason alone, tonight should be viewed as a must-win.

One word REBOUND!!!! If we do this we will blow chicago out. Look at the stats when we win the rebound battle. Here are my challenges to the players:
Josh- 12 rebounds 4 blocks and 2 steals. Your points will come if you achieve these stats. (17pts)
Joe- 10+ free throws, 5 rebounds. Means you are driving to the basket like other stars you would average 28 pts easy.
Al- 14 rebounds 3 blocks. If you do this and run with Josh on the fast breaks you will get 14 pts.
Jamal- 2 steals, shoot 7-12 from the field. This means you are playing tough defense and either you are hot from the perimeter or your driving to the basket.
Teague- 2 steals and 8 free throws this means you are driving to the basket.
And guys perimeter shots are harder to rebound because when you drive to the basket it breaks down the defense. Come on Hawks pull this out man lets get the world off our backs. Good luck.

The Hawks need to come out and treat each quarter like a whole game. They need to win every single quarter or atleast 3 out of the 4. If they lose one then they cant lose it by more then 6 points. If they win then they need to win by atleast 4 points on each quarter.
Also I read ana rticle on NBA.com:
http://www.nba.com/2011/news/features/steve_aschburner/05/10/bulls-hawks-first-quarter/index.html?ls=iref:nbahpt1
Basically which ever team comes out with passion and energy and effort in the first quarter has went on to win that game. We need to come out VERY strong in the first quarter. We need Smith, Horford and Teague to jump start our offense ASAP. I feel if we can win the first quarter by atleast 5 or 6 points, then we can tough it out for 2 more quarters. I’d prefer the 3rd and 4th. Hold them to less then a 6 point 2nd quarter win.

Gametime!!!!! The Bulls are less talented but go hard for a longer period of time than the Hawks…Thats why they “seem” to be a better team…I see 2 or 3 factors that cause the Hawks to win or lose and pretty much everyone see that too…Rebounding, bad shots, and focus…They take care of those 3 and were are good and on our way to the Conf. D Rose is an amazing player. That said, I think the rest of the Bulls team determines if the Bulls are successful.
Since that game 2, Noah has looked pretty average to me.
And I know he was smaller framed than Al at UF, but it’s obvious the guy has been hitting the weights hard. I would guess he’s 250+ right now, even though he’s listed at 232.
Deng is a good hustle guy, very athletic, but I don’t think he’s some great BB player or anything. He’s really getting by on energy and athleticism. He’s everything Marvin could be and isn’t.
Boozer hasn’t looked that good to me either.
Taj Gibson – I’m always glad when they take him off the court. Another great energy guy. He can be a difference maker if you ask me.
Asik is a good ball player also. I’d take him for Marvin straight up. i’d even throw in a couple of 2nd picks. But the guy only makes like 1.5m per year or something, so no trade could happen with Marvin.
Bogans hustles defensively, but he doesn’t scare me on O.
I don’t like when Korver’s in the game. He can kill you at any time, even if he is a def. liability.
Brewer hasn’t shown me much, but he’s solid for what he is I guess.
I don’t like when CJ Watson is in the game either. That guy looks like he could start at Point for alot of teams.
So of course you have DRose.
The other guys that concern me are Noah, Gibson, Watson, and Korver. I don’t think Deng will beat you, but he’s solid.
Boozer, Bogans, Brewer I’m not so worried about.
We can beat this team!

Watch Josh’s and JJ’s body language early in this game. Las Vegas Larry has done a credible job making adjustments in this series but this is the big test. Expect CHI to try to exploit Collins to start the game. Thibs will also adjust to the traps on Rose.
Vegas must get JJ and Jamal open looks. Any time Josh is open on the perimeter, his man will cheat into the lane. No reason to guard him on long jumpers because he’s made like one the entire series. This is a chess match and Las Vegas Larry is going head to head with the coach of the year who is responsible for Boston and Chicago’s defensive systems, statistically 1 and 2 in the NBA. If Vegas is able to counter the different looks he’s going to see tonight, this is his chance to prove that he deserves a job as an NBA head coach.

Paging All Star Al….. Paging All Star Al….. We need you tonight. We need you to play like you played in the second half of the last game. While everyone is focusing on Josh, it would be nice if our two time all star dominated Carlos Boozer (with torn ligaments in his foot). Another 6pt effort won’t get it done. If you want Josh to stop taking long jumpers, you and Marvin can stop passing it to him. Take the shot, when the shot presents itself. If not, we all know what will happen. Jerry McGuire lost his MOJO/QUAN/whatever when he was fired at the beginning of the movie, but finally found it again by the end (with the help of Renee Zellweiger and Cuba Gooding, Jr.) The Hawks remind me of that movie. They lost their mojo after being embarrassed, humiliated and utterly destroyed by Orlando last year. Their pride had to be shot! They have been fighting back and haven’t given up and maybe now they have rediscovered their MOJO. Maybe they could have got their Mojo up earlier, but why waste it. Remember, last year we SWEPT the Celtics and they almost won the Championship. Maybe rather than being worried about these type of big moments, they Feel confident and LOVE this moment.

SteveW Teague is a scoring point, does not average alot of assists and has been turnover prone in the past. For him to pull the assist-to-turnover ratio he’s had in this series going head up with drose has been remarkable. I truly believe it is his lack of natural ability as a passer that has kept him on the bench more than any other factor. Jamal and JJ need the ball, not some second year guy who can’t shoot ball hawking and reducing their shot attempts.

We sure need more than Josh’s 28% shooting that we had the 1st two games of this series, or the 21% he shot in that last Orlando game.
Or the 6 Boards he had in each of those first two games while not boxing anybody out. Or the 4 boards in that last Orlando game.

Buddy – You know, Jeff only averaged 0.9 turnovers per game in 13.5 mpg.
That’s 2.7 turnovers per 40.5 mpg.
And he averaged 6.0 assist’s per 40.5 mpg.
DRose averaged 3.4 turnovers in 37.4 mpg in the regular season
Teague only had 3 turnovers in a game twice in a reg. season game since 12/16 at Boston where he had 4.
Kirk averaged only 3.3 assists for us in 28.6 mpg, much lower than Teague. And he only had slightly less turnovers than JT.
JT’s turnover proneness has not held water since the first half of this season.
And he missed a ton of Assists playing with ZaZa, Hilton and those guys, who would fumble his passes out of bounds.
Teague is not turnover prone.
LD’s incompetence kept him on the bench. Wish it was different. It’s not.

Your star offensive players usually have big games, when a team wins on the road during the playoffs. Rose did it in Game 3. JJ did it in Game 1. Durant and Westbrook did it last night. ZeBo did it in Game 1. Lebron was excellent in Boston the other night.

Horford’s extension is for more than Josh’s, and he did not have to get anybody else to make an offer to get the Hawks to pay him. Horford 5 year 60 mil, Josh 5 year 58 mil. If you did not know, your extension is based on when you came in the league, you figure it out. Why would he be the difference maker, he’s not an All Star.

You know the NBA has no interest in seeing a Hawks vs Grizzlies Final. You know they have even less interest in seeing a Hawks vs Heat ECF. So be on the lookout for the fix in the next few games. Bennett Salavatore said as much when he apologized for missing a foul call on Rose. No apology for all those non-calls when the Hawks were getting hammered, but made it a point to let Rose know he will be getting those calls from now on. Thing is, I still think the Hawks can beat the Bulls and the refs, if they keep their composure, and LD relaxes that 2 foul rule a bit.

Al makes 5.4 million
Josh 11.6 million
Next season, Josh makes 12.4 million
Al makes 12 million
in ‘012/13 Josh makes 13.2 million
Al makes 12 million
There has never been a season that Josh has not made more than Al. And Josh will make more than Al the next two seasons also.
No matter how you spin the numbers, Josh makes 2x more than Al this season, and will make more than Al the next two seasons.
And adjusted for inflation, his 5 years 58 mill. contract is bigger than Al’s 5 years 60 million dollar contract which is not even in effect yet, in case you didn’t know about inflation.
Al last game – 9-11 from the field – 20 points
Josh 8-22
Josh is 1-23 from 15+ feet in this series.
This after shooting 21.4% in the last game of the Orlando series pulling down 4 Boards.
While making twice the money
Sorry this inordinate jealousy for Al making the All Star team has gripped you.
Didn’t we have this discussion before? The All Star team is not the 12 best players from each conference. It’s the 2 or 3 best at each position. So Al making the squad as a C doesn’t mean he’s a better player than Brick Man Josh.
If Josh wants to be, when he plays to his strength’s and not experiments with his weaknesses as LD says, Josh is a better player than Al.

Honest_Abe – “you’re right ob he doesn’t get it and sadly enough i don’t know if he ever will. we can all dream that one day he will.”
Niremetal – “Well sure, if by “all year” you mean “for the first 2.5 months of the season.” After the All-Star break, he shot .282 from 3 and roughly .350 on long twos, if I’m doing my math right. That’s more in line with his career averages.
http://www.hoopdata.com/splits.aspx?player=Josh%20Smith
A 2.5 month aberration in the course of a 7 year career and he thinks that justifies him jacking up those shots in the playoffs? *sigh*”
DMB – “Josh apparently takes amnesia pills after each missed shot.
With that selective memory, he only remembers the good times.”
JeJe – “Josh’s comments are some of the most discouraging I’ve seen this season.
He actually thinks he’s a good perimeter shooter.
THE WORST possible thing that could happen is him hitting his 1st jumpshot tomorrow [I hope he doesn't take any].
DO NOT TAKE ANY JUMPSHOTS TOMORROW

No spin, just truth
I thought we were supposed to depend on the highest paid players, whether there All Stars or not.
Josh makes more than Al, no matter how you spin it.
I mean Yao Ming was an All Start this year and he didn’t even play.
McGrady got voted in when hurt
Same with Iverson
Are you telling me a LaMarcus Aldridge or Eric Gordon didn’t have a better season than Tim Duncan? Kevin Martin for that matter.
The best players don’t always make the All Star team.
But you count on the guys who make the big bucks.

Steve Kerr is right. With these players on the floor if Joe and Jamal are not hitting the Hawks are in trouble. The reason, though, is because Jamal can’t check Rose on the perimeter and nobody can contest his shots in the lane. Jamal and Zaza on the floor at the same time with no Smoove has that major disadvantage for the Hawks.
Another missed jumper for Marvin the invisible man. At this point no reason not to give Damien his minutes.

Two things to look for: who is winning the battle on the boards, and how many points the Bulls’ supporting cast is getting.
Chicago only has one more board than the Hawks so far. That’s not so bad.
But 23 points for the Bulls other than Derrick Rose in that quarter on 9/14 shooting is horrible. If that continues the Hawks don’t have a chance. Keep the Bulls overly dependent on Rose offensively and watch the lead shrink.

The Bulls always bench Rose to start the 2nd for like 4 or 5 minutes. That’s usually his longest break of the game. I haven’t looked up the stats but if I’m not mistaken the Bulls haven’t been more than maybe -2 or -3 in any given game during this stretch. The Hawks have to capitalize on CJ Watson. These spells should be +6 or +7 in favor of the Hawks.

I really think that our best all-around lineup against the bulls is Teague-Joe-Josh-Al-Zaza. Defensively, it is solid, it gives us size, and on the offensive end, it has enough scoring to keep us out of droughts, and enough big bodies to attack the glass when we can’t hit a shot.

Also, Joe needs to get the ball from 15 feet on in. Make him create on the perimeter and it gives the Bulls time to force their help over to him and make him get the ball out of his hands. Get it to him closer to the hoop and even if he has to pass it, maybe it goes to someone who is more open on the perimeter or better yet to an open big man for a dunk.

I’m seeing good signs from the Hawks so far in terms of their mentality in this game. They were down by 15 early, but they didn’t fall apart and fold the way they have in the past. That’s a good sign. Now, it’s a 6 point game, and they had the momentum going into the half.

Rudder!
ZaZa was the steady rudder. Teague is trying to get everybody in their sets! But Jamal and Josh not listening very well. Teague need to be more vocal, if they don’t move inside, then Teague needs to penetrate and take over in the paint.
What is Jamal doing? Aye Jamal! This is not your team. Give the ball to Jeff! So far, so good though. We withstood their fast start.
We really need to win this game. Drew is doing a great job in the huddle, being that vocal leader. He is getting in their chest!

this is the 2nd round folks. they are playing the team with the best reg season record. let’s have some realistic expectations. the hawks weren’t going to go to chicago and blow them out of the gate. this is exactly where the hawks needed to be in order to have a shot.
i don’t mind mistakes and missed shots as much as lack of effort. the hawks are brining it tonight and that’s all i can really as for as a fan.

Bad last 10 seconds, but great quarter besides that. This game is right there for the taking. Bulls will no doubt make a 4th quarter run when Rose decides to start taking over. Hawks gotta weather the storm when that happens and continue executing the offense instead of falling back into their old bad habits.

It’s only a 1 point game and rose hadn’t had any rest so far in this half. Also, the Hawks offense has started to pick up, meanwhile the Bulls are starting to struggle a bit to score. If we can take away those free points at the line and continue to lock it down on D, we should be in good shape.

Around the 9 minute mark in the 4th, Joe and Jamal…I believe it was 3 shots. Three missed three pointers that led to Bulls points’. I dont understandho you go from Teague making inside the paint layups and floaters…to forcing shots from two of your coldest players.

Hard to believe Hawks lost this game with the Bulls had a lineup of Taj Gibson Asik and Ronnie Brewer on the floor.
Horford had one of the quietest points I have seen. A finesse player.
Smith played well. Good defense. Where was zaza after the third quarter?
teague good game again not gonna get calls but did get foul the critical play
but what about the play where the hawks get the ball horford tries a stupid crosscourt pass gets picked up bulls score. Hawks were down six then went up to 8 with that steal
Jamal is so hot and cold. I have never been a fan of his even when he makes shots. He is an And 1 player great on the courts on the streets. Junk yard ball.

Damn,
I was hoping it wouldn’t happen tonight but I knew sooner or later putting the ball in Joe’s and Jamal’s hands too much would become diminishing returns. I know people like to talk about #5’s shot selection, but this guy Jamal thinks that the ball touching his hands is a license to go ham.
Why do we continue to take the ball out of our PG’s hands, and put it in the hands of two notorious over dribblers?
Joe has no quickness when creating his own shot and drains the shot clock and Jamal will force his own shot like he’s entitled.

To keep things in perspective…
The Hawks are still in this series. The pressures on them to deliver at Phillips in Game 6. If they do that much, all of the pressure is on Chicago’s shoulders for game 7.
And truth be told, I wouldn’t think these Hawks would roll over for a game 7. The only thing that is stopping the Hawks from winning this series is the Hawks themselves. IE – Tonights start to the 4th. They get too dependant on our “hero gaurds” to make “hero shots” rather than keeping the offense flowing.

*******************
Wabe . . . you know we can’t win without JJ scoring the basketball. It’s just that he has to do something with the basketball. He played way to passive tonight for my taste. Should’ve came out in the 1st quarter just like he did in Game 4, but he played the team game.
Then he tried to do it all at the end, when his shot wasn’t necessarily falling.
You take those quick shots in the 1st half, to see if you can get going. That way, by the time the 2nd half comes, he may be red hot, like he was in Game 1.
Hawks played this game tonight like they wanted to keep it in the 80s. Then at the end, people were f’in up, not making shots, and not boxing out.
And with the way Jamal played, either Zaza or Marvin should’ve gotten his minutes in the 2nd half. Drew has to understand that Jamal is a streak shooter. So when he’s cold, he’s ICE COLD. And not “ice cold” in a good way either.
Too bad they blew this game at the end with bad shots and poor defense. Now it’s do or die on Thursday. Hold the fort, and see if you can pull off the upset on Sunday.

JJ and Jamal were a combined 7-24, including 1-9 on 3’s. We can’t win with those numbers, especially when the refs were wearing Bulls jerseys under their shirt.
Am I the only one who thinks the offense should go through Teague every time down, especially when Jamal and JJ are struggling.
I think we forced it to JJ the first 2 or 3 possessions in the 4th going iso. The Bulls played great defense on him, and his teamates didnt do a good job of giving him an outlet, so he got stuck pounding.

“Am I the only one who thinks the offense should go through Teague every time down, especially when Jamal and JJ are struggling.”
I’m with you 100%.
I am all for feeding Joe early in the game to get him going. But he has to be fed in spots where he can do something with the ball. Giving him the ball on the perimeter and clearing out not only puts him in a position of weakness (he doesn’t have the quickness to get to the rim from out there) but also ensures that if he passes out of the double team it’s still going to go to someone on the perimeter.
This is the mistake the Hawks made in the 4th quarter. Run plays to get Joe the ball where he can use his size and strength to create space for a shot or set up a teammate, and the offensive execution will be good. Clear out for him on the perimeter, and invariably a good defense is going to shut him and the Hawks down. Not to mention, the jumpers that get launched from far away tend to be harder to rebound for this team for whatever reason.

I’d be more inclined to blame the refs if the Hawks had done what they needed to do to win. But they started slow in the first quarter, and they didn’t execute on offense to start the 4th when the Bulls were invariably going to make their run buoyed by their home crowd. Can’t blame the refs when your team doesn’t do what they need to do, regardless of the bad calls (and there were several) that didn’t go the Hawks’ way.

They can’t just put the ball in Joe Johnson’s hands and tell him to go one on five and win it the way the Bulls do with Derrick Rose. That’s the mistake they made to start the 4th.

I know, just saying if we really needed a point guard we should have sent Jamal and his expiring contract to the Wizards instead of Jordan. Oh well… spilled milk.
I just now that Jamal is Mr. Diminishing Returns. The more he has the ball in his hands the bigger risk you take with offensive execution and defensive prowess.

Is it just me or did anybody else see the guy Omer Asik setting a lot of illegal picks. He’s always moving side to side or sticking his leg out to prevent Teague from fighting through the screens. If the refs start to call those, then we can gain a huge advantage when it comes to slowing down Rose. And the Hawks need to just keep running pick and rolls through Teague because that’s the only offense that’s working and looks like a real play. Everything else just looks like a sloppy mess.

Phuck that cliche arse shi+. Why go back to Chicago just to get cheated again? You can stay in ATL and let them cheat like they did in GM4. They have shown well for themselves just quit while you are ahead

One thing great coaches do across all sports is put their players in the position where they are most likely to succeed. Joe is at his best when he catches the ball inside the 3 point line, not when he has to create from the perimeter. Teague is at his best when he drives the ball into the paint from the perimeter.
LD is talking in his post game press conference about taking good shots. Well, if you run plays that maximize your players’ strengths, those good shots are much more likely to happen. If you want someone to catch the ball on the perimeter and get in the lane, give it to Teague, not Joe. If you want Joe to get the ball, run a play that allows him to get it in the mid range area instead of behind the 3 point line.

LOL @ Kenny Smith–If a guy gets hurt on a flagrant, the one who fouled should sit out the same amount of games…Kenny, my mom used that one on my brothers when they used to fight each other!
And Chuck thinks $700K is excessive? But Bynum just throwing out an elbow wasn’t excessive? If that happened on the street, it’d be called assault!

I think the Bynum foul probably looked worse than it actually was because Barea is a midget. If he commits that foul on someone bigger I wonder if it looks as bad. I don’t have a problem with a 5 game suspension for Bynum, but I can see where Charles is coming from.

I know the Hawks made horrible decisions to start the 4th quarter..but everytime it seemed we did the right thing and cut into the lead the refs bailed them out with ticky tack fouls….So even if we made good decisions the whistle would have just been blown more!!!!!!!!!!!
Can we pleaseget the ATLANTA media to call out the REFS..since LD wont do it! Thibodeau works the officials all game lng and in press conferences. COME ON AJC!!! Help your city out for once and put in the headline “REFS DECIDE GAME 6″ with the picture of Teague clearly getting fouled by D. Rose on that steal!! U can do it, or ru afraid of THE BIG BAD STERN AS WELL???????????

If Bynum commits it on ZaZa, Bynum would’ve dislocated his elbow.
I tend to like the large fines for things like that. It sends a message. If I got a $5 dollar fine for speeding, I’d drive 90 all the time. $25K for Bynum and most NBA players is change, one less pair of bling this season. $700K says something.

Josh Smith was hammered once, no call.
Teague has been hammered a few times, no calls.
Then Rose has some air blow on him as Horford passes by and they call it. Idiots.
I hate watching the Bulls.. outside of Rose, they are such bitches… they get waayy too into the game with their antics…. Deng, Noah, Gibson.. whether it be flapping their arms to the crowd or screaming in excitement after stupid plays, it’s almost irritating to watch them… I love watching them lose.
yelling when attacking the rim equals foul in the new nba
I think the Bulls are the one team I wouldn’t mind watching the Heat spank if the Hawks lose.

Truth is…
It’s odd when you’re 2nd year PG whose tossed into a pivotal 2nd round series can get to the FT line more frequently than your ’superstar’ player.
I know Joe’s game doesn’t favor him getting to the line much. But dude really needs to make it a point to take that ball and draw contact by any means necessary when he (as the leader) feels this offense begining to stagnate. Force the issue. I’m tired of this aggressive Joe vs passive Joe bullstuff. Make it a point to remain aggressive, and even moreso when the clanked jumpshots and isolations stall the offense.

Where is He?
Ever since Blake put Al on his back side, he has disappeared on offense.
He has completely stopped creating anything on offense.
If he’s not being set up? He is nothing.
He could be like Tim Duncan, if he would just go to the paint and show his hands for a pass, but he has no quick step nor post move.
Even his jump hook has left him. What a softie.

I don’t mind Al not being dynamic on offense. He doesn’t have the low post game to be a go to offensive option and his automatic jumper has been hit or miss in the playoffs. I do, however, have a problem with his horrible help defense and his softness on D in general. Essentially the lane is wide open when Smoove exits the game, because Al refuses to block shots or commit hard fouls, and Zaza although he tries really hard doesn’t have the athleticism or length to be a factor when it comes to altering shots.

i don’t see how ppl say that joe johnson didn’t show up to play clearly i guess yall wasnt looking at the game, this dude gets double and tripple every game, and yall expect sumthing to happen, and when he kicks it out nobody can shoot or drive except teague, the coach don’t know how to sub, do not use his bench properly, and the line up should be zaza, al, josh, joe, and teague, ya’ll gripe at joe cause he makes all the money, everybody with money not perfect, and at the end of the day he’s still getting paid regardless of what we say about this dude

I still feel confident, that we can win this series, call me crazy Idc. We let them slip out of the gates and finally came back to end the 3rd, I thought there were some terrible no calls on our ends in the 2nd half especially. Jamal didn’t give us anything tonight and if he had this game would’ve been won.
I think we can win the next 2 first being a W at home on Thursday, and we already proved we can win in their arena I say we come out with a will like no other for Game 6 and tie the series, but it is easy to talk, they will no doubt want to prove it on Thursday.

1st the officiating was horrible in the 4th q in favor of the bulls, it didnt help the hawks offense got stagnant they need to let teague handle every possession and not every now and then, teague has showed us he will be a very good point guard that is being unleashed now. dont ever let jamal bring the ball up the court he slows down our offense to iso plays. if we run him and joe off screens and let teague drive and kick and pick and roll the hawks offense would not have crumbled,,,but i really do believe and how belived it for years that the nba wants to see the prime matchups with all the star player and they will do anything to make it happen. im a diehard hawks fan but could you imagine hawks and grizzles in the finals,,,, that nba would have a cow…………

This was a winnable game, and we let it slip away. 15 points scored in the 4th reminds of the numerous droughts we had last season and this season. We also scored 15 points in the 4th quarter of game 3.
And its frustrating, because we were playing so well after the first quarter, only to come out and go ISO the first 2-3 possessions in the 4th.
We could have used Hinrich big time in this game. Teague has played over 40 minutes all 5 games, and I dont know how long he can keep it up. Also, Hinrich would have been a good alternative to jamal, who ended up playing 27 minutes, going 1-9 (although he did have 4 assists).
We still need help in the front court though, so I hope Rick (or the new GM) addresses it this offseason. Guys like Josh Powell and Joe Smith are not the answer.

Hinrich is not going to make the refs call the game down the middle so he would not have helped tonite or in the series to be honest. Derrick Rose will get to the lane and he will get bogus calls, but he and the Bulls will get theres against D Wade and Lebron who will both be gettting those superstar calls. We would have atleast won a game against the Heat. The Bulls are going to get straight swept

the facts remain the hawks have shot more fts then the bull and chicago has had more fouls called against them then hawks sorry you hate facts. people remember it’s a game no need to name bash because you have no argument. it’s a game nothing more nothing less.
