Thanks for the link Rev. doc has been saying it for months. We need J Smash, not J Smoove.
One of the analysts made an interesting comment last night. They said Teague allows the Hawks to play the way they are built to play. Utilize their athleticism, and push the ball in transition.
With Bibby running the point (especially this year when he struggled big time), we didn’t have any athleticism at the point, and Bibby was not a threat to lead the fast break the way Teague has. He also was not a threat to penetrate, which opens things up.
Teague is averaging 12 pts, 3 assists and 1 turnover per game. I have been a big fan of his all year, but he has surpassed my expectations.

Thanks for the link Rev! After reading the article I have to say that after 7 years in the Association, the need to compete consistently should not have to be spoon fed. Admittedly, the NBA is full of under achievers but in Josh’s case, he was enabled by a one horse town media that failed to ask the right questions but resorted to character assasination tinged with racial innuendo- which failed because Josh wasn’t a thug : he didn’t choke his coach; sexually assault any women or kill a team mate while driving under the influence and at speeds over 100 miles an hour on a surface street.
But what hasn’t been heard .until this article, was the impact of the owners drafting players based upo their acceptability to a certain segment of the population. In other words-they wanted Tunas with good taste rather that ones who could-and would- ball.
What Josh needs is to stop letting the voices in his head-his father,Jay Bilas, etc., distract and disturb him. He has abilities but frankly, he is not as good as he portrays himself to be. His best feature is that he displays more exciting plays than his more gentile but less gifted team mates. If he wants to win as badly as professes, then he has to bring it every night come hell or high water. No more excuses because the eyes of the national media or on him now and they are looking very hard at what’s what.
Of course my opinion is relative to the Hawks ; Kobe has just been handed a resounding vote of no confidence by his team mates by their tanking his ambition for a three peat that would have put him ahead of Shaq and on par with Magic in Laker history. So don’t get it twisted regarding my screed. Josh needs to grow the fu#ck up not only for the team but for himself: he is one more knee injury from irelevence in basketball lore. Woulda, shoulda, coulda is staring him right smack in his face!

LOL, doc has been saying that for the last 3 seasons. We went to one of the Heat /Hawks playoff games together in 09 and he was saying it back then.
Also, co-sign on Teague. He’s exceeding my expectations this series. I KNEW his defense would be fine but I didn’t think he’d be this consistent on offense.

This series ended when the Hawks mailed it in Game 3. They are not going to win in Chicago again.
Here is the Hawks’ M.O.:
Everyone criticizes and doubts them. Results – tough inspired play.
Everyone praises and believes in them. Results – they get big heads, relax and get stomped.

My observations:
Kudos to Jeff Teague – great floor game — Kirk take you time, don’t rush it.
Kudos to Josh for getting Horford involved in the game. He mad a concerted effort to get Al the ball inside. There was point in the 3 period where Josh yelled at the coaching staff to get Al back in the game.
Joe for not bucking LD’s game plan.

“why can’t Josh play like this, after jacking a few in the first qtr from 20 ft and missing all but one, all the time. Josh is not dumb. You only have to listen to him answer questions in an interview to know he has “some” smarts. ”
Smoove’s problem has never been that he is dumb. It has always been that he is overconfident and stubborn. He doesn’t take bad shots because he doesn’t know any better; he does it because he wants to prove everyone wrong who says he can’t make them. In a way I think the crowd booing his jumpers might only encourage him.

MC, not sure I should ask, but the prognosis on Hindrich? Is he out all series?
Not that I am not pleased with the current, because JT can handle the minutes and in no way does he have to be covered for on defense.
That’s the best part.
Everything went well in Game 4, and Joe didn’t have that great of a game, nor JC1. Now, can we go to CHI and make a monstrous statement in Game 5?
Watching Game 4, and IMO, Boozer and Noah inside isn’t enough to stop us. You saw Teague, Josh, Zaza, Al and Collins crashing the boards.
That Asik fella? He’s pretty good, and he is decent on defense. He made Marvin look like a rag doll on that one block. Marvin’s role should be smaller going forward.
Give me the big inside presence of Collins/Zaza/Thomas (is he still active?) and let Marvin go up against the 2nd unit in small increments.
But I wouldn’t be surprised to see Marvin make a bigger contribution come Tuesday; it has been about a week since he has made any impact.
Truthfully, Marvin at 6′9″ 240 lbs in the official roster? He plays more like 6′6″ because his shots get blocked way too often.
Damien should cut into his minutes immediately; when Damien is on the court, at least you know he is ON the court!

Najeh, Barkley wore the ‘Crash Dumbie’ helmet last night in Josh’s honor. If that doesn’t get your attention as a player, then what will?
You have media asking LD about it, you have Aldridge even point blank asking the question…
Josh is simply an all-star level player without that facet of his game. I like his game better than I like Bosh, sans jumper.
A smarter Josh goes a long way with the success of this team, and Joe and JC1 don’t have to have great games every time out.

That was the best team effort I have ever seen out of the Hawks. They stayed with their game plan and executed it perfectly. The Hawks knew 3 things going into last nights game; #1:THEY COULDNT ALLOW DERRICK ROSE TO GET INTO THE PAINT REPEATEDLY UNCONTESTED. They got physcial with Rose and bodied-up on him making it very difficult to get into the paint. If Rose decided to charge into the paint like an ANGRY BULL, Rose kept paying the price as bodies were blocking him from getting to the cup. What you saw from the Hawks last night IS A PERFECT BLUEPRINT ON HOW YOU LIMIT DERRICK ROSE. YOU CANT STOP HIM–HES A SUPERSTAR, MVP.You stopped in from scoring 50 points and his 34 points were not enough to beat the Hawks.#1 Goal was Successful. #2:JOSH SMITH HAD TO BRING HIS A+ GAME, STOP SHOOTING OUTSIDE JUMPERS AND PAINT INSIDE THE BLOCK LIKE PICASO. JOSH WAS AWESOME LAST NIGHT AND GAVE US A FLASH OF WHAT IS TO COME. CAN YOU IMAGING HOW GOOD THIS TEAM WILL BE IF JOSH PLAYS LIKE THIS EVERY NIGHT. I ALWAYS SAID THAT THE REASON THE HAWKS ARE SO GOOD IS THAT THEY HAVE FOUR ALL-STARS:2 OF THEM MAKE THE ALL-STAR TEAM [Johnson and Horford], AND 2 OF THEM DONT BECAUSE THEY ARE BASICALLY UNKNOWN[Smith and Crawford]. The Celtics have 3 all-stars, the Heat have 3 all-stars. Right now the Hawks have 5 guys playing at an all-star level, if you include Jeff Teague. The Hawks are potentially great they just have a low self-image and that has been their biggest problem. THEY DONT KNOW HOW GREAT THEY COULD BE IF THEY PLAYED THE RIGHT WAY. LAST NIGHT ATLANTA HAD ALMOST A PERFECT RECIPE TO BEAT THE BULLS AND PLAYED INCREDIBLE DOWN THE STRETCH. Last nights game was the BEST Ive ever seen the Hawks CLOSE-OUT a top flite opponent. And last but not least #3:AL HORFORD HAD TO REGAIN HIS ALL-STAR FORM. He DID MORE THAN THAT LAST NIGHT and all of a sudden the Hawks are playing like a team, with purpose and confidence and its fun to watch. I hope the Hawks can sustain this. Go Hawks. Crush Bulls in 6.

I noticed Josh hit his first jumsphot, beat his chest, and was confident enough to take more jumpshots throughout the game.
That first made jumpshot almost lost us the game. If he had missed it, he wouldn’t have shot again.
I hope this guy shows up in game 5 with the same DRIVE TO THE BASKET mentality.
When Josh is at the 3, he is much freer to get rebounds. He was getting EVERY rebound last night, but a lot of rebounds for some reason were uncontested

It’s really funny to here all these comments about when the good Josh or bad Josh show up we win. Well the good Josh must show up an awful lot over the past three years, becuase we have won a good amount of games in that time frame. The thing is, Josh shows up almost every night good or bad. The real problem with the Hawks is if both of our All stars decide to show up with him, and if our coach can let this Marvin Williams love affair go. When you put a passive Al Horford, and Marvin Williams on the floor together it usually forces Josh Smith to take a number of stupid shots. Joe gets doubled, Marvin and Horford pass up good shots, and Josh has no problem showing that he is not scared to take the shot.
On another note, I’m still waiting for someone to put Rose on his back. Thanks to Al Horford for finally joining the team in the playoffs. Wev’e been wondering where he was.

Yes – there were about 12 blown calls – 10 when Chicago should have been whistled for a foul and wasn’t including at least one flagrant on Noah against Josh – could’ve put Josh out of the series.

Some quotes from a ESPN.com Micheal Wallace article, along with some comments
“Josh Smith Better When Not ‘Smoove’” May 9, 2011
“There was second-year point guard Jeff Teague, in the middle of the first quarter Sunday night, shouting back at an assistant coach after he was taken out of the game, presumably for a mistake he didn’t believe was his fault.”
There’s Teague’s inner dog! Rondo became an All Star doing that kind of stuff. Good job Teague!!
“t some point during a chaotic timeout early in the second quarter — after Hawks coach Larry Drew exchanged heated words with Smith as Johnson sat about two seats removed from the huddle and hung his head — this inconsistent and fragile team had come to a fork in the road.”
Wow, glad we didn’t quit
“Teague regained his confidence and, yet again, stared down Rose in the second half. Al Horford would finally show up and join the series already in progress.”
Good assesment
“ut none of those developments were bigger than The Transformation.
The good Josh Smith kicked the bad Josh Smith out of Philips Arena just in time for the Hawks to save themselves from themselves and make this a series again, one that is becoming increasingly more difficult for the Bulls to put away and prepare for the Eastern Conference finals.
If the Hawks refuse to cooperate with their own coaches at times, what makes you think they’ll comply with any sort of outside expectations and simply go away in this series? Instead, these knuckleheads are knocking heads with the Bulls and head back to Chicago for Game 5 on Tuesday far from finished.
And the much-maligned Smith is the reason why they fought their way into this position Sunday. Through three quarters, “J-Smoove,” Smith’s nickname and alter ego, had missed 11 of his 15 shots from the field and seemed to have neither a conscience nor remorse for jacking up the same ill-advised jumpers that his coach repeatedly has asked him to stop taking.
And then, in the fourth, J-Smoove left the building and Josh Smith finished the game. Same body. Same uniform. Same sweaty headband. Same striking resemblance to rapper The Game.
But different mentality. Different results. Smoove was awful, booed mercilessly by his hometown crowd with his father sitting courtside. Smith was cheered and revered the moment he appeared and took over the fourth by taking the ball to the basket.
Smith scored 11 of his 23 points in the fourth quarter and also added 16 rebounds, eight assists, two blocks, a steal and some stifling defense on Rose late as the Hawks closed the game on a 16-4 run. The Hawks really want to get rid of Smoove, and they almost did at the February trade deadline.
But this Smith dude that showed up in the fourth is the reason they keep holding on to him and continue to hold out hope that he’ll eventually mature into his better half on at least a semi-regular basis.”
Great analysis.
And did we really almost trade Josh at the deadline? Wow. Maybe those Curry/Beidrins rumors were more true than we thought.
“For Atlanta, it’s been a tale of two Joshes not even Charles Dickens can narrate.
For his part, Drew said he will bring Josh into the office again Monday and show him the tape of Sunday night’s performance, with Smoove starring in the first half and Smith playing a lead role and becoming the hero in the end.
“Josh knows,” Drew said. “When he rebounds, runs the floor and pushes the ball, he has an ability … a very unique ability. It sank in a little bit.”
Smith can keep the Hawks in this series and possibly help them engineer an upset.
Smoove might end up sending them on vacation.
Smith understood the situation well enough after Sunday’s game to say that he needed to “just make plays … do the things at [small forward] that [Luol] Deng does.”
And then, Smoove seized the moment again.
“The media tries to T.O. me,” Smoove said in a reference to controversial NFL receiver Terrell Owens, comparing the level of perceived negative criticism they receive.
A moment later, Hawks media relations director Arthur Triche stepped in to cut off the postgame interview just as another question was being asked.
No sense in allowing Smoove to get the final word on a night Smith saved for the Hawks.”
Great way to end the article!

I was glad for the blown call. After many years of following the Hawks, they FINALLY GOT THE BENEFIT OF A BLOWN CALL. Big deal. I tell you what. I HOPE THAT THE HAWKS LEARNED LAST NIGHT, PARTICULARLY JOSH SMITH, THAT GOOD THINGS HAPPEN TO THE TEAM AND THE RESULTS AND OUTCOMES ARE GOOD WHEN YOU PLAY THE GAME THE RIGHT WAY. Last night in the fourth quarter late in the game, Derrick Rose missed four layups AND had two turnovers because Teague was pestering him and covering him so well. Also we got the benefit of a blown call BECAUSE ROSE SHOT AT THE THREE POINT LINE WAS CONTESTED. If Rose had been left alone he probably would have made the shot. Think about that the game was hanging in the balance at 84-84 and could have gone either way, THE HAWKS CLOSED OUT THE BULLS 16-4 and won 100-88. Thats incredible but that is how games are to be closed out on the biggest of stage with the whole world watching you. I COULDNT BE MORE PROUDER OF THE HAWKS. THEY PLAYED LIKE CHAMPIONS LAST NIGHT. Hopefully this magnificent performance will carryover on Tuesday night in Chicago. Play well in Chicago and the Hawks will have the opportunity to close out Chicago on Thursday. LAST POINT, FOR A TEAM THAT HAS TROUBLE CLOSING OUT TEAMS IN THE REGULAR SEASON AND PLAYOFFS FOR THE LAST 7 YEARS, THE HAWKS HAD A TESTBOOK, FAIRY TALE ENDING THAT RESULTED IN THE BEST MASTERPIECE PERFORMANCE THAT I HAVE EVER SEEN THE HAWKS PULL OFF IN THE PLAYOFFS. OUTSTANDING.

look josh needs to realize it and jj too that it doesnt take a dummy to figure it out. i have a girl friend from czech who had never seen a game and she has gotten into it over the season. she loved the energy and how the bulls played, pointed it out and ultimately how her adopted team responded and she cheers loudly for the hawks. the funniest thing is how she has isolated the worst players to be taking shots form the outside for our team as numbers 2 and 5. go figure and she doesnt even know their names. she has continually pointed it out how bad and inconsistent they are and she has no basketball experience, yes hockey, and no history to go back in on.
when jj and j smash play within the game and themselves they can do wonders for the team. when the little victim, jjjjjj joe johnson, surfaces or j sm**ve (sorry i cant say it or print it and hate that i even think it) comes out, we die because they control the team as it flames out.

Rod,
If good Josh showed up more consistently, he might have been an All-Star already. Although some of his shots are forced (like when JJ and others pass it to him with the clock winding down), alot of his bad shots are his choice. The opposing team leaves him open, so he takes it.
However, its sad that a second year PG who played sparingly his first 2 years, is having the series he is while Marvin and Al were as invisible as they were.
If teague keeps this up, he might force Marvin further down the depth chart on offense (to the #6 option, behind JJ, Jamal, Josh, Al, Teague and Hinrich).
Where you at, it was not a bad pick?

Rev,
That was a great article on ESPN. EXCELLENT article. I gotta say though, that this is frustrating to see after a game like last night:
“When people who don’t understand the game or know the game [criticize me], it really doesn’t faze me,” Smoove responded when Smith was asked how he handles the terse reaction from fans to his struggles on the court.
Ok. What about criticism from your teammates, coaches, commentators, and basketball luminaries? Do Hubie Brown, Mike Fratello, Jack Ramsay, Kenny Smith, Jeff Van Gundy, and probably the ghosts of Chuck Daly and Red Auerbach all not understand the game? It’s worrying to see these types of quotes after a game like last night, where Josh went 1-6 on long jumpers but DOMINATED in the paint, because Josh still seems to think that he needs to prove the doubters about his perimeter game wrong rather than simply rendering their doubts irrelevant.
Josh’s focus needs to be on dominating with his strengths, not on trying to prove that he has no weaknesses. So yeah, Josh needs to give Smoove a blindfold and a cigarette and let Smith take over his body full time.

Now that we have JOHNSON, TEAGUE, HORFORD, CRAWFORD AND SMITH GOING WELL, the next sleeping giant that we have to wake up is the incomporable MARVIN WILLIAMS. Most fans believe that Marvin is a no-talent bum and is a hopeless case of pathetic excuse for the NBA player. I will never forget Marvin saving the Hawks in game 6 of the Orlando series helping us close out a monster of a team that Dwight Howard is a leader of. I STILL CANT GET THAT GAME OUT OF MY MIND. MARVIN HIT A FEW TOWERING 3-POINTERS THAT REMINDED ME OF PISTOL PETE MARAVICH. Without those clutch baskets the Hawks would not have advanced past Orlando. So far in my mind, MARVIN HAS BEEN THE HAWKS MVP OF THIS SEASON BECAUSE MARVIN SAVED THE HAWKS FROM CONTINUING TO BE THE LAUGHINGSTOCK OF THE NBA.

slim jr. yeah, but not here. heh heh
mike is back, i have not been riding on collins for a while now. he plays up to his ability better than any player on the team. it doesnt mean we dont need another legit big which i have been screaming for and was more my point rather than a personal attack on him. other good teams have four bigs and two legit points why not us for years? last year, i thought he was underplayed and it was unfair when he was put in especially against the magic. he has contributed this year because he was in shape and got some p,t and maybe not enough. look between boozer, gibson. noah and the other big they were eating our lunch. neither josh nor al match up to them alone because one is too big to move and just pushes josh around in boozer (two butt bumps on josh and he has travelled 6 ft and into the lane and ,delivered it into the basket) and noah’s is a 7 ft energizer bunny that is strong below the waist and with long arms and doesnt give up with his quickness. as neither al and josh nor any other hawk doesnt box out ever, that is a very bad combination. if collins and zaza dont see more of the court we are done.
i did like the scramble defense and wonder why it wasnt used earlier like about game,, uh one? or certainly once bibby was gone. geez what a liability he was to this team.

“Rod – Josh is a mental case – admit it. We know you love him, but the truth is just the truth. Josh is not forced into taking any bad shots. It’s his choice. The Coaches know it. The fans know it. The pundit and national media know it. He sometimes knows it.
Only you don’t know it I guess.”
I guess I just pay attention more than most of you. So Josh shooting jumpers is a bad shot? Have you watched the Hawks all year? Josh has been shooting jumpers all year long. I have heard LD say many times that as long as Josh takes the shot in the flow of the offense, its not a bad shot. Everyone bashed Josh on his comment that he talks to Drew about what a good shot is. Hell, I consider myself to be a decent basketball mind, and I don’t even know what a good shot is on this team. Is it only a good shot if he makes it? Is it a bad shot because he misses it? The head coach won’t stay with a consistent lineup. He runs an offense that has Josh along with our starting center standing out beyond the 3 point line. Everyone now says guys should be cutting to the basket. I have not seen Marvin, Josh or Horford cut to the basket consistently this whole year. So now we should be doing something we have not been doing all year?
Do I think Josh is a mental case? No. I think the whole team has mental problems. I feel as Najeh feels that Josh is overconfident, and has problems handling his emotions. I feel like Horford and Marvin are extemely passive. I feel like Joe is to calm, and needs to show more emotion especially since he is the leader of the team. I feel like LD is too calm as well. He a’int Phil Jackson. Notice the change in his persona during the playoffs. Now he is calling guys out, and screaming and actually standing up during the game. Totally opposite from what he has been doing all year. I grew up on the southside of Atlanta with cats that act just like Josh Smith, maybe that’s why I am not as outraged as some fans are. One thing I know about players like Josh is that they need structure. You also can’t continue to harp on his issues and faults as a coach, and not hold guys like Horford and Marvin, and Joe accountable. He will lose respect for you, and turn into the Josh that a lot of you don’t like. He basically said as much in the press conference yesterday. He feels like everyone is trying to T.O. him, and if you want to put all the blame on him, he’ll take it. He is aware that he plays on a team with a bunch of guys who have very fragile ego’s, and he knows that he is one of the only guys who can take critisism, because he is used to it. It’s really not that hard to understand. He thrives on being the bad guy, but just does not have the skills to back it up. The thing that I like and respect about him is that he is not scared. I was raised the same way, so I understand it. I would prefer a guy who is not scared and will try his best and never quit, than guys like Joe (sometimes), Marvin, and Horford (in the playoffs) who play scared, and rarely show emotion.

LOL, Many of Josh’s so-called bad shots are only called “bad” because they’re not falling. When one did fall, no-one called it a “bad shot”. That was often a repeated case during the regular season as Rod from (CP) indicated . Having it said though, the writer referencing LD comment has merit:
“Now is no time to be experimenting with your limitations,” Drew said regarding what his message has been to Smoove-Smith during those heart-to-headband talks.”
Josh’s issues have always been the timing of his adventures, more so than anything else. If your opponent, for example, makes a 9-0 run and your team desperately needs a basket, (agreed) that would not be the time “to be experimenting with your limitations”.
But Josh’s reaction to the media profiling negatively like Terrell Owens (TO) also has merit. The media (in a clever way) used comments from Josh’s coaches and teammates to jab at him. If the Hawks had loss Game 4, then comments like this writer would have weight.
But instead the Hawks won the game and now questions should be raised about the media frequent infatuation with Josh’s character and perimeter shooting slump. Westbrook appears to be in a shooting slump and hijacked a victory for the Thunders. Did he get the Josh (TO) treatment? The media doesn’t seem interested in framing him negatively like Josh. Actually, all NBA players experience shooting slumps so Josh is no exception. Like most, Josh’s intention is in the right place; he is simply trying to shoot himself out of his slump. But as previously stated, his adventures often happen at the “wrong time”.
Like most NBA writers and pundits during the post season, they are all looking to “cash-in” on sensational articles to write that will gain attention. Apparently, at least for now, Josh Smith bashing is a best seller. Even after he had a monster night, these writers, (a combination of Hawks Haters and over zealous writers), will still cast him negatively.
A word from Hawksville to Josh Smith: Keep your head up. Yes, it’s smart to pay attention to your coaches and teammates but The HELL with everybody else regarding your game.

Josh Smith saved the day & one bad official call that finally went our way. J-Stupid was in the building early in regards to the offensive side. Josh was in the process of stacking the score sheet. It was clear he was making contributions in the game, but giving it back with the outside jump shots…missing all but one.
Finally, J-Smart showed up to help on the offensive end, rebounding, handing out dimes & controlled offense in the paint.
Josh all you have got to do is remmember the formula for your success…J-Stupid on the PERIMETER & J-Smart in the PAINT…FORGET THE J-SMOOVE….it’s that simple you will be a perenial ALL-STAR…dude you almost had a Triple Double!!!!!

rod asks;
“I guess I just pay attention more than most of you. So Josh shooting jumpers is a bad shot?”
yup, i have paid attention too and watched him flail on those 19 footers he calmly shoots and misses with 14 seconds on the clock when he could take the ball down and make a move to unsettle the defense and either crash the board make a fake, pause and get an and one and cause the defender to pick up a foul or pass to a teammate open because the defense has now moved and is not set up to take his missed shot back the other way because we have allowed them to camp knowing full well what josh is going to do because they are paid to play the game and if we as fans can see it the guys down there can see it…. so yes rod, it is a sorry g d shot and dumb, stupid, and arrogant for him or maybe anyone to think otherwise.
so rod we the fans, coaches, teammates, media, former players, my czech girlfriend having never seen a game before last year, the list goes on doesnt it?, get it. if you dont then so be it. and i love j smash and you know it. i dont like the alter ego that continues to do dumb stuff. yeah, take the shot with the clock running down and he isnt afraid to do it because it is funny, the more time he has to set up the worse he shoots it and that goes back several years. under pressure he makes em, when he can consider it, not so good.

Marvin played so well, dynamic and exciting in the Hawks close-out game against Orlando, that for at least one night [PROBABLY THE ONLY NIGHT IN HIS NBA CAREER], Marvin performed better than passed-over draft picks Deron Williams AND Chris Paul and performed like the #2 pick in the entire draft that he was. Of course this summer, Marvin needs to bulk up and add more muscle, beef himself up and probably gain some weight (maybe to the tune of about 60-80 pounds), then go into the gym and shoot 1000-1500 jump shots per day. With this DEDICATED regiment and workout, maybe Marvin can become the great potential player that he has been touted to be. IF MARVIN WORKS OUT LIKE I JUST OUTLINED, MARVIN CAN BECOME AS GOOD AS EITHER DAVID THOMPSON, JAMES WORTH OR BOB MCADOO. If not, the Hawks will continue to get cheated out of their draft pick by the no-talent bum named MARVIN WILLIAMS.

On several interior drives into the paint, Josh was struggling to get in there and was throwing up WILD shots that were missing. Don’t usually but agree this time with much of what Rod stated: If LD does not want Josh shooting jump shots then don’t put him in a space position. He is constantly on the same side of the floor as a post up guy…or diagnol opposite…i.e. prime space positions for shooters. Often because they take so long to get into a set if the ball is kicked he has to shoot it. Obviously there are occasions in which he shoots early and those are bad shots and ones in which he needs to be held accountable but there are also shots he shoots that are a function of poor spacing and design

So again if Josh quits constantly for long periods in your eyes, the please explain to me what Joe Johnson, Marvin Williams, and Al Horford do. What has Al Horford done this entire series. Has he been playing and going all out for the whole series. What about Joe, when he scores 30 one night and 8 the next. Does Marvin give more effort than Joe on a consistent basis. You continue to say how much Josh is you favorite player, but you want to hold him accountable for everything and give other players a pass. Yeah man, with every game, win and loss the entire dynamics of the series changes. The historical and statistical aspects of the teams winning pace kicks in and history pretty much does repeat itself.
Tied at 2 games each after 4 games pretty much tells us that these two teams are evenly matched, then home court does become a factor.
Problem with that is, the Hawks are a better road team, because the home court fans are very transient.
These Hawks play better and more together on the road, but we can’t discount sleeping in your bed and eating your own food on big game noghts. The Hawks are not greater than the sum of their parts.

Fear not, Bulls still in control

ATLANTA — Now, can you do it again?

Can Atlanta Hawks forward/head case Josh Smith remember that he’s shooting-challenged from 17 feet and out? Can Hawks center Al Horford remember that passing to an open teammate in the paint leads to good things? Can Hawks point guard Jeff Teague mimic Derrick Rose in the fourth quarter, or will he remember that he’s actually Jeff Teague? Can Hawks guard Joe Johnson pass up shots and actually have a five-assist game?
Derrick Rose drives around the Hawks’ Jeff Teague. He scored 34 points in the Bulls’ loss. | kevin c. cox~getty images
‘‘That’s the million-dollar question there,’’ Hawks coach Larry Drew said when asked where this version of his team had been hiding in the last week.
The Hawks didn’t show up in Games 2 and 3 of the Eastern Conference semifinal series, and their victory in Game 1 was about two shooters catching fire and having everything they touch turn to gold.
Team basketball? That’s a concept the Hawks still are trying to put their arms around.
And that’s why the Bulls are still in full control of this series, even though it now is tied 2-2.
Talent beats flash. Team basketball beats playground.
That’s why Drew wanted to grab the tape from Game 4, pop some popcorn and have a late-night viewing session with his players called ‘‘Hoops 101.’’ He’ll have to settle for eggs and Froot Loops this morning, with Smith getting a special viewing.
Hawks’ Smith comes up big
Smith was all-world in the Hawks’ 100-88 victory Sunday, scoring 23 points, pulling down 16 rebounds and handing out eight assists. More impressive in Drew’s mind was that Smith played team basketball, a concept that is still foreign in Atlanta.
‘‘I’m going to bring the tape in and bring him in my office [this morning],’’ Drew said. ‘‘Josh knows what he brings to the table; he recognizes that. He sometimes finds his way to the perimeter and lets it go, but he has a very unique ability to impact the game on both sides of the floor. When he’s flying around, making plays, playing energized basketball, he’s very good.’’
‘‘When’’? There’s the leak in the Hawks’ dam of momentum.
They out-playgrounded the Orlando Magic in the first round and perhaps thought that mentality could be the model for success against a disciplined Bulls team in the second round. After the mirage that was Game 1, reality checks came in Games 2 and 3, with ‘‘lack of energy’’ the disguise for what went wrong with the Hawks.
No, it was the lack of a team concept, a lack of fundamentals. Whatever Drew told them before Game 4, however, they slurped it up.
‘‘We played like a desperate team,’’ Drew said. ‘‘Both teams played really hard. . . . We had to go into the fourth [quarter] with the mind-set we had to defend. We played with a lot of energy, a lot of emotion, and we shared the basketball a lot more. We play like that, we’re an effective ballclub.
‘‘It’s something I’ve been preaching all year: When we share the ball, we will have that result. We will have five or six guys in double digits. When you play against the No. 1 defense in the league, you have to be committed to sharing the ball, attacking.’’
Repeat performance unlikely
The worst-case scenario for the Bulls is that the Hawks finally get what Drew is preaching, take it into Game 5 and play team basketball again. Even then, though, the Bulls are more talented top to bottom.
The reality of what we will see Tuesday at the United Center is that the Bulls will come out with fire, and the Hawks will feel the burn and revert to what they know best: one-on-one, no-conscience basketball.
‘‘It’s the playoffs; there’s going to be urgency,’’ Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said. ‘‘When a team loses and they come out, they’re usually urgent.
‘‘Once [the Hawks] get going, they’re a hard team to slow down. They were active, they fought hard, and a big part was how we finished the game.’’
Applaud the Hawks for that. Pat them on the back and congratulate them for their effort in Game 4. But fear them?
It gets back to one question: Can you do it again?
I’m guessing no.

Rod – ‘So again if Josh quits constantly for long periods in your eyes, the please explain to me what Joe Johnson, Marvin Williams, and Al Horford do. What has Al Horford done this entire series.”
I think it is anybody who has sights eyes, not just in my eyes – and you know it if you would be honest.
JJ, Marvin, and Al don’t discombobulate when they make a bad play, or get a real or perceived bad call.
Al – 38.8 mpg
Josh – 36 mpg
Al this series has averaged 11.2 ppg/10 rbs/1 block/ 1 turnover
That’s were Al has been.
And surely you know that the All Star team is not the 12 best players in each conference. It’s the best 2 or 3 players at each position. So Al can make the All Star team and not be nearly as good as someone else at another position who had a bunch of guys ahead of him a little better at a particular position.
And you sound insanely jealous for whatever reason that Al was an All Star and Josh has not been.
Who made more than twice as much cash as Al this Season? Josh Smith
Who will make more than Al next season? Josh Smith
Who will make more than Al the season after that? Josh Smith
Why wouldn’t I hold Josh to the same standard as Al?
And if Al complained about phantom calls, took halves off, jacked up horrible shots in 80 out of 82 games on a consistent basis, of course I would call him out also.
But he plays as a professional.
Your on the losing side of this arguement because of blind loyalty. Face it. The truth is always a good thing.
And I’m a Smoove fan. Trust me. Just not a blind one

And to bring Marvin into a discussion about Josh Smith is just weird.
So are trying to tell me Josh plays just as well when he pouts, complains, jogs up the court for long stretches, makes his guys play 4 on 5, when he mentally checks out, as he was in the 4th quarter last night? You don’t see the 2 Josh’s Rod?

I am so excited about the Hawks, I just cant sit still for one minute. JOSH “SMOOTHE” PLAYED THE GAME OF HIS LIFE LAST NIGHT. Last night, Josh Smith looked as good as either LaBron James or Dwayne Wade. That is what i have been saying all along. WHEN JOSH PLAYS UNDER CONTROL, IT IS LIKE YOU ARE ADDING D-WADE OR LABRON TO YOUR ROSTER. Pretty good additio, huh. Of course when Josh is launching is reckless 3-s all over the perimeter, then is looks like a “Druken Marvin Williams”. Thanks Josh, great ball game last night. We need two more like that from you in this series to close out the Bulls.

I don’t have any doubts 1-12 the Bulls have more talent the Hawks.
But last I checked, BBall was 5 on 5, not 12 on 12. So if your best 5 can beat their best 5, and you have 3 subs to rotate to keep fresh in their, you can beat them.
And we have Jamal, Wilkens, ZaZa, and Marvin off the bench when we play big, so we can rotate effectively.
Guys – you do realize we are doing this missing one of our best players, right? If the Bulls didn’t have Deng or Boozer, the excuses in the national media would be endless.
But we’re tied up 2-2 missing KH. We’re doing better than most of the national media thinks.
Go Hawks!!!!!!!

LOL@ that Chicago article that drmaryb posted.
So we play playground basketball, but the Bulls, who have one guy taking 40% of the Bulls shots, are a “team oriented” offense that is a better team from top to bottom?
Get The F–k Outta Here
And I agree with drmaryb about MC’s coverage. While I disagreed with his stance on JJ during this series ( until his write-up last night ), he is a very good professional writer. He doesn’t resort to tabloid-style writing to get his point across. And he doesn’t trash and bash the other team while trying to make his point.
I like that article though. I hope the Bulls themselves feel exactly the same way that sportswriter does. Maybe they’ll come in complacent and “let us” win Game 5 as well.
If everybody played up to their ability, Chicago still has the best player in the series in Rose. But we have the 2nd – 5th best players in JJ, Smith, Horford, and Jamal. And while the Bulls bench is better, they’re not necessarily reliable either.
Rose has taken 27 – 27 – 27 and 32 shots in this series. That’s 28.3 shots a game. And that doesn’t include the shots in which he gets fouled on, that doesn’t count as an official shot attempt. Nor does it count the times in which Rose is looking to shoot, but turns the ball over before he can get his shot up.
But we’re the ones playing playground basketball? Their main guy simply comes down and looks to shoot on just about every possession.

I dont think BK watched any film on Marvin before the draft. The same issues Marvin has now he had then. He had weak handles, couldnt create off the dribble, wasnt a three point shooter, and had trouble finishing at the rim. I never saw the hype with Marvin. Vitale was hyping up Marvin that whole year but nothing about his game stood out. I think they try to move Marvin in the summer but from what I’ve read, they have been trying to trade him the last two years.

Honestly, if we get one good game out of Marvin, it could be the difference in us winning the series or losing it. But even if we don’t, as long as he’s solid defensively, his contribution will be noted.
It’s just mindboggling to me that some of you would rather talk about Marvin, than about the great win last night.

Sund got us Jamal(the closer), and Collins(the Dwight stopper). He got rid of Bibby(the liability), and Mo(the bum). He drafted Teague, JC2, and Pape Sy(2nd rd). He also signed a decent coach for around 10 bucks. I know he got rid of JC2, but if he plans on resigning Jamal, there was no room for him anyway. Not bad Ricky. Not bad at all. To My Fellow Bloggers,
The national mediaknows very little about the Atlanta Hawks organization and players (this includes former coaches and players posing as experts). Now ask them a question about the Lakers, Heat, Bulls, Celts or Knicks and they will be able to tell you intricate details about the life of the 7th, 8th or 9th players on the those teams. Those same media types would be hard pressed to tell you the Hawks starting lineup or the fact that we have a big and small lineup. Take what you hear from the national media with a grain of salt.

You guys are just so used to hating and complaining about the Hawks, that you don’t know anything other to do than to hate. Marvin has been a non-factor for some time now. He’ll show up every now and then, like in the Orlando series. So why not just accept that, and move on?
You guys are beating a dead horse, and keep beating that horse until you crack the dead horse’s skull. Then you STILL keep beating the horse.
Enjoying the biggest win in 23 years is not “drinking the kool aid”. It’s simply giving credit to the guys who got it done last night. And I can do that without bashing Marvin Williams ( who did contribute last night on the defensive end ).
You guys simply love to spew negativity, even after a great positive.

I know there are many fans out there who are venting their DISPLEASURE with the performance of Marvin Williams. The only reason why I have written about 20 blogs about Marvin since we closed out Orlando is because I BELIEVE THAT MARVIN WILLIAMS WAS THE SAVIOR WHEN WE CLOSED OUT ORLANDO. MARVIN MADE SOME OF THE BIGGEST SHOTS OF HIS CAREER, AND THE IRONY IS THAT “WE HAD TO HAVE THEM”. IF MARVIN HAD MISFIRED ON ANY OF THEM, ORLANDO WOULD HAVE KNOCKED US OFF, AND WE WOULD HAVE CONTINUED TO BE THE LAUGHINGSTOCK OF THE NBA. SteveW,
“And I’m a Smoove fan. Trust me. Just not a blind one”
Stop it with the I’m a fan of Josh stuff. No you are not. If you were a fan of Josh you would take the good with the bad, and not blame all of the Hawks problems on him. It’s the classic, I’m not racist, because I have black friends answer.
“And if Al complained about phantom calls, took halves off, jacked up horrible shots in 80 out of 82 games on a consistent basis, of course I would call him out also.”
So you mean to tell me that you have been watching the Hawks every game in these playoffs, and Al has not taken any halves off. Are we watching the same games? I just realized that he was still on the team yesterday. So you would rather him pass up multiple open looks, and not even try to score or take a bad shot? But your exuse for Al is that he is “Tired”. Your hatred of Josh is so strong that you don’t even realize how hypocrital you are. Again I ask you, in your opinion what is a bad shot for Josh Smith? Is it any jumpshot? Is it any 3 pointer? Or is it any jumpshot that is not in the flow of the offense as LD has been saying all year?
“JJ, Marvin, and Al don’t discombobulate when they make a bad play, or get a real or perceived bad call.”
Marvin and Al don’t make bad plays because they have been playing scared for most of the playoffs. It’s hard to make bad plays if you don’t try. JJ never complains about anything good or bad. Do Marvin Williams, Mike Bibby, Joe Johnnson and Jamal Crawford, play with more effort and energy than Josh Smith?
“And to bring Marvin into a discussion about Josh Smith is just weird.”
What’s so weird about it? One player has worked to improve his game to become a respected player in the league straight out of high school, with “mental issues” as you say, and is villified by the fans and the media, and the other was drafted to be one of the best players in the NBA, has not worked, has not improved his game in any way over 6 years, and is let off the hook by everyone except for a few bloggers on this blog. He starts just like Josh, he has been given the same opportunities, was supoposed to be better, and is probably the worse small forward in the NBA.
Just admit you dislike Josh because he is a “thug” and he is the cause of all the Hawks problems and move on. Al Horford, Marvin Williams and Joe Johnson can do no wrong to you, and they play the right way. So be it. I disagree.
SlimJr and Jeje bash Josh all the time. You don’t see us arguing back and forth all day because they also bash All Star Al, Joe, Bibby. They destroy Marvin, like he deserves to be destroyed, so they don’t look like hypocrites. You sir are a hypocrite. Josh is all things that is wrong with the Hawks (The Devil), and All Star Al is all thats right (God). LOL

Are you saying that there is someone out there who still believes in regular contributions from Marvin? Me, once a week at best is when Marvin produces. He should have a contractor’s agreement and get paid for the actual work that he does as opposed to getting paid for just being in the lineup.
So much money going down the drain with Marvin….we were lucky to move Bibby. Him being gone has changed the moxie of this team. What is our record since Bibby has moved on? I know its better in the playoffs without him, and it took 2 #1 draft choices and Mo Evans for someone to take him. We will be in the same scenario with Marvin.
As for the team that comes out Tuesday? None of us know who will be focused. This is the most important game since the ‘88 Hawks lost in a Game 6 to the Celtics. It has been too long for most of us to even remember, but the Hawks had every edge in that series and couldn’t come together. It was Nique and pieces, similar to what DRose has in CHI.

DMB, 680 is that last place other than Clark Howard if you want to go for Hawks coverage. They give 15 minutes a day to the Hawks, who could be the best postseason team this city has…what does that tell you about our sports teams in this city?
LD, along with his predecessor, has no clue what to look for in a PG.
Billy Knight shouldn’t get any credit either. And I’m glad Woody gets little interest in other jobs around the league. If he does, he should be forced to have Shellhead as his C.

Answer: WHY THE HELL HASN’T THIS KID BEEN PLAYING?
Can someone please answer me this?
Allow me Madame Curie.
In the Association playing time is based primarily on financial, practical and political considerations. The stars generate the most revenue-ticket and merchandise sales; the starters are the players who in the judgement of the coach(s) and others best fit into the particular franchises program and then there are those players who either make the coach happy or offend him in some manner-chocking him comes to mind.
In cases like the ownership of the Hawks, financial issues seem to be a substanial part of the decision making process. While M-V-Teague was drafted in the first round as a potential starter, one Mike Bibby, who at the time was the highest paid player on the team at $15 million per annum, was the incumbent at the point guard position and was reportedly well regarded by the then HC,a Mr. Woodson. ( In fact it has been suggested that the arrival of Mr. Bibby saved Mr. Woodson’s job, albeit temporarily)
Fast forward to today and you now have Captain Kirk coming aboard at a not unsubstanial $9 million salary and once again, there is the matter of money.
Hope that my SWAG offered some insight.

Marvin playing scared? Hardly, Marvin just isn’t talented. Is it me or has Marvin doubled in size below the waist since he came here?
The guy can’t finish at the rim. He hasn’t, he won’t and he needs to get minutes like a 10th man role player. A bigger bust than Shellhead if you can believe that…we knew Shellhead wasn’t talented enough to go 6th. Add Chills to that list at 6. At the Chills draft, I said anyone but Chills, and they didn’t listen.
Some memories just can’t be erased. Those Hawks draft parties have been some real memorable ones around town. “With the 21st pick in the NBA draft, the Atlanta Hawks select Boris Diaw – PG / France”…the whole place…crickets!
And let me give you the PGs who were drafted before ahead of Teague:
Tyreke Evans/Ricky Rubio/Jonny Flynn/Stephon Curry/Brandon Jennings/Jrue Holiday/Ty Lawson…..tell me who’s season is still going on out of these guys? And Curry was being hyped as a PG in the draft.
Teague has proven he belongs and he proved it against Lawson earlier this year. But LD just doesn’t see it.
For a team that needed a PG more than anyone, we might be down to just a couple of pieces to be a continuing contending team…..wonder what position we have extra talent at?

Marvin Williams is a buzz kill. That Kirk Hinrich trade is a buzz kill. Not playing Teague rotation minutes all season is a buzz kill. The ASG is buzz kill. Rick Sund is a buzz kill. LD’s performance in the regular season and during losses in the playoffs is buzz kill.
Don’t give LD an extinction he has not earned it because this team could already be in the ECFinals, with Jordan Crawford set to take over for Jamal, a 1st round pick coming up to draft a SF or Lucas Nogueira at C only if LD had been a full time competent NBA coach.
Let Sund walk
ASG sell
If you can’t move up in the draft select one of the following in 2nd round
Darius Morris PG 6″4= Could use his size once Hinrich is gone.
Kyle Singler SF 6″9= Can’t be any worse than Marvin.
Keith Benson C 6″11= He is tall and long, might help down the road, but he is not a starting C.
Jimmy Butler SF 6″7= Love his mid-range game it’s as good as Marvin’s but he does not have two left feet like Marvin.
Shelvin Mack combo guard 6″3= The type the Hawks love. Vinnie Johnson clone.
Jordan Williams PF/C 6″10= Where is the beef? He has it 260 pd guy that averaged a double double as a sophomore in the ACC last year.
Demetri McCamey PG 6″3= Big PG will be needed when Hinrich is gone.
Marshon Brooks SG 6″5= He can put the ball in the hole like Sund said about Jordan Crawford.
Giorgi Shermadini C 7″1= He could be close to Zaza, just a developmental big worth a mid to late 2nd.
Robin Benzing SF 6″10= A 6″10 SF prospect that supposedly can shoot it for a team that needs a backup SF with some explosiveness sounds good.
Chandler Parsons SF 6″8= The most overrated player I may have ever seen, but he may worth a pick and sending to the D League
Andrew Goudelock SG 6″2= Knock down shooter, Eddie House style

ILL-LOGICAL, that’s a shame that saving face takes priority over winning games. And, they said, “It was not excessive force being used on Rodney king.” The biggest lie I ever heard.

Let’s Go Hawks! I got a real sneaky feeling the Real Hawks are gonna show up tomorrow night. Someone, reported the team was very quiet and somber before last nights triumph.
That is addition by subtraction, when they got rid of the “silliness” of Bibby and replaced it with the “heart” of Kirk Hinrich who is a no nonsense type of guy. Sprinkle that with some Teague?
Now, The Hawks cooking with Hot Fish Grease! You heard?

I just love this blog. Apart from a few crazies that make the same, multiple posts all the time, Hawks fans on this blog are very insightful, smart and even funny. Dr. Mary might be the funniest.
I go to other blogs and they are just a bunch of misguided, unable to spell souls hammering out gibbish. Keep it up, MC and Hawks fans.
I know a lot of you are salivating about Hawks having a chance to reach the ECF, but let’s slow our roll a little and take it game by game. We all know the team that we have and nobody on this planet can figure out which Hawks/Josh will show up, so let’s not get too carried away, let’s see what happens in game 5. I believe whoever wins game 5 will take the series.
I am happy and proud that Hawks are 2-2 versus the team with the best record in the league. I am happy that The Teaguer is playing so well and ganering national attention. I am glad that Hawks were able to, at least for another game, shut up TNT and ESPN crews that always show the negatives about us. To tell the truth, Inside The NBA is not as funny or good as it used to be.
Having said that, Let’s Go, Hawks!
Can’t wait for game 5! Hawks have nothing to lose while the Bulls have everything to lose.

JeJe, a memorable play and Josh was being ‘bail-out Josh’ as he is known when the shot clock winds down…he just sits out there and slings it up!
Well, we take the good with the bad….the only question is if you had to choose between Josh and Al, who stays and who goes? We still need more size inside.

I don’t know what to make of Josh’s interview. He was very candid and believes everything he said. I really liked him in the interview. He is very personalable, but it confirms the worst of what people have been saying on the blog. He takes stubbornness to a whole new level. But I still don’t think he is any more stubborn than Drew when it comes to playing Teague during the regular season.

I heard today on the 2 Live Stews, that allegedly:
There is some ISH going on in Hollywood, CA. Pau Gasol wife has left him because Vanessa Layne Bryant got in her ear and told her Pau has been doing “The Monkey Business” on the road.
Ok! Hold the laughs for a few seconds. But didn’t that biatch Kobe, throw Shaq under that exact same bus when he was questioned by the Colorado Investigators some years back?
And, who the hell gave the “Purple Diamond Ho” a pass on forgiveness versus non-forgiveness? Ahem … Didn’t she hold out for a matching Purple Necklace to seal the deal? I mean, she didn’t leave her man, so how is she gonna’ tell Mrs. Gasol anything at all?
That’s why “snitches” get “stitches! That right there – Allegedly.

Rod – “f you were a fan of Josh you would take the good with the bad, and not blame all of the Hawks problems on him. ”
Rod, that may have been the stupidest statement on this blog ever by anyone. I have blamed LD, Bibby, Al, JJ, Jamal, Marvin, ZaZa and many others for lot’s of things over the course of time.
Don’t be stupid. The Hawks problems run far deeper than Josh. I know it and of course you know it.
“So you mean to tell me that you have been watching the Hawks every game in these playoffs, and Al has not taken any halves off. Are we watching the same games? I just realized that he was still on the team yesterday.”
Oh, I didn’t know we were just talking about the playoffs.
And no, I kaven’t seen Al take a half off. I’ve seen Al try to pace himself because his coach won’t utilize some of his other players for even spot minutes.
See Al playing more mpg than Josh during the playoffs.
I’ve seen Al average a double/double
I’ve seen Al lead us in Assists for the playoffs.
You said, “Your hatred of Josh is so strong that you don’t even realize how hypocrital you are.”
So I guess that’s why I wrote a lengthy blog on why Al needs to man up, bulk up, learn a low post game and be a C against 75% of the NBA.
Not to bright. Your smarter than this Rod.
You said, “Again I ask you, in your opinion what is a bad shot for Josh Smith? Is it any jumpshot? Is it any 3 pointer? Or is it any jumpshot that is not in the flow of the offense as LD has been saying all year? ”
LD has been very inconsistent with his media comments on this. Sometimes he seems to indicate that most shots Josh takes from 15+ feet are bad. Most, but not all. Then LD gives the working on shot stuff.
So i would say when Josh takes a 15+ footer with more than 10 seconds on the clock against most guys constitutes a bad shot. And when he keeps firing away, and is a momentum killer, it’s bad.
And I think your love for Josh is so strong your blind to the truth. It’s like saying a black man must be right because he is a black man, not because of what he does.
Rod, you said, “Do Marvin Williams, Mike Bibby, Joe Johnnson and Jamal Crawford, play with more effort and energy than Josh Smith?”
Sometimes and sometimes not.
Are you saying that Josh plays with more energy all the time, some time, more of the time or what?
Does Josh take more time off on the court on a consistent basis than most? Yes.
“with “mental issues” as you say, and is villified by the fans and the media,” And I suppose everybody is just stupid or blind not to point out Josh’s weakness?
Mental issues with no qualifiers like “on the court”? Come on Rod.
“Just admit you dislike Josh because he is a “thug” and he is the cause of all the Hawks problems and move on.”
That is a race baiting lie, so of course I would not admit it. When almost all of my favorite players are black that would be strange.
Got any white favorite players Rod? You seem very racist.
You said, “Al Horford, Marvin Williams and Joe Johnson can do no wrong to you, and they play the right way”
That of course is ann ignorant statement if you have read alot of the blogs I post. I bash those guys all of the time. When needed, just like Josh.
You said “SlimJr and Jeje bash Josh all the time. LOL”
And you sir are a judge – and evidently a far worse hypocrite than me.

Rod – Here’s some of what I see wrong with the Hawks
LD – Terrible Coach this season. Worst I have ever seen in any sport anywhere. He’s coming alive in the playoffs, and for that I’m glad. Sat Teague way too long.
JJ – Hurt, lost his outside shot. Didn’t play like a max player. But he’s come alive in the playoffs also.
Josh – Incredible talent, but schizo on the BB floor. Whines and complains too much, and let’s calls get into his head. Shoots J’s way to much, which is not his game
Al – Needs to man up and be a C. Work out like Noah. Learn the low post. Get better handles.
Kirk – Gettin’ old. Lost a step. Finally hitting the midrange however.
Marvin – Just a terrible basketball player
ZaZa – Inconsistent – Short arms, can’t rebound usually for a big. No shot blocker. Hands of Stone. No low post game.
Jamal – Never saw a shot he didn’t like. No D
I criticize them all. Said Josh made plays last night I’ve never seen any player make ever. But i guess your love for Josh is so strong you don’t read that part and you just gotta protect Josh.

What I’m loving with Hawks series is the fact the Teaguer gets to go head to head with MVP Rose, and he is holding his own. Teague is gonna learn a lot from playing Rose, in fact I think he is learning already, if you look at the two Rose-like drives he had in that 4th quarter. I think he has what it takes to be almost as good as Derreck Rose.

The biggest problem with Marvin was said by Marvin himself. Marvin said he doesn’t WATCH basketball. How can you play basketball for a living and not watch it? That means you don’t like basketball. Marvin never does anything to improve his game each summer. He improved the 3, but seems to have lost it again. Summertime, Marvin is in Carolina studying for his degree.
Jamal said he watches all the games, staying up late to catch the west coast games. Now, that is somebody who LOVES basketball, and you see it on the court.
These series, Marvin should not be playing steady minutes. Damien needs to get most of his time. I wonder why Drew is so blind to see this? Just like he and Woody were blind by starting Bibby over Teague, despite Bibby’s detereorating skills.

I can’t stand Kobe Bryant. I have never heard of a more arrogant person, I guess he rubbed off on his wife. She was an 18 year old child, before he swooped her off the heap in Puerto Rico.
I can’t imagine anyone not getting alone with Karl Malone’s wife. She is a grown woman, not a child. She has to be what 45 years or something? I know it was a while ago, but damn! LOL!
Kobe didn’t even invite his own parents and grand parents to his wedding.
Just rude, because they advised him to take his time and get a
pre-nuptual. Which is excellent advice. Tiger Woods Father advised him not to get married either, but, they don’t listen.
Oh well! Yeah, Pau was pissed at Kobe and Vanessa and it came into the locker room. Hard to play with a broken heart.
These basketball wives should already know these skeezers are gonna be hustling their advanced services and positional techniques. All Mrs. Gasol gotta do is either compete or check them ATM cash with drawls,
to get the whole story.
Personally, if it were me? I would pack my husbands overnight bag and make sure I throw a case of XS – Ribbed Trojans in there. Just in case, one try to slip off. Tell your man to double up on the long nights.
