Game balls:

- Josh Smith . . . That was your best game since Game 2 of the Milwaukee series.

- Joe Johnson . . . Way to come out “forcing the issue” and jumpstarting us. Keep doing that.

- Jeff Teague . . . You continue to make the most of your opportunity. Good job man.

- Larry Drew . . . You pushed the right buttons before the game and made the right adjustment

Sund got us Jamal(the closer), and Collins(the Dwight stopper). He got rid of Bibby(the liability), and Mo(the bum). He drafted Teague, JC2, and Pape Sy(2nd rd). He also signed a decent coach for around 10 bucks. I know he got rid of JC2, but if he plans on resigning Jamal, there was no room for him anyway. Not bad Ricky. Not bad at all. Get rid of Marvin this summer, and you get my vote for GM of the year.

To My Fellow Bloggers,
The national mediaknows very little about the Atlanta Hawks organization and players (this includes former coaches and players posing as experts). Now ask them a question about the Lakers, Heat, Bulls, Celts or Knicks and they will be able to tell you intricate details about the life of the 7th, 8th or 9th players on the those teams. Those same media types would be hard pressed to tell you the Hawks starting lineup or the fact that we have a big and small lineup. Take what you hear from the national media with a grain of salt.

Maybe its a good thing we are flying under the radar…..

Nah mykhalic

You guys are just so used to hating and complaining about the Hawks, that you don’t know anything other to do than to hate. Marvin has been a non-factor for some time now. He’ll show up every now and then, like in the Orlando series. So why not just accept that, and move on?

You guys are beating a dead horse, and keep beating that horse until you crack the dead horse’s skull. Then you STILL keep beating the horse.

Enjoying the biggest win in 23 years is not “drinking the kool aid”. It’s simply giving credit to the guys who got it done last night. And I can do that without bashing Marvin Williams ( who did contribute last night on the defensive end ).

You guys simply love to spew negativity, even after a great positive.

And that’s the truth.

The Bulls play better as a unit, but, the Hawks are more talented 2 – 4.

@northcyde…here’s a question for ya…would it bother you as a fan if Marvin is in the startin’ lineup tomorrow after seein’ the results of last nite’s lineup and PT??? i’m guessin’ it would…at least to some degree, right? well it’s these type of possible moves that we Hawks fans CONSTANTLY have to put up with this franchise…STUPID MOVES!!! so while you can continue to bask in last nite’s win, which i was totally stoked to watch their team performance, i also know more than anythin’ else that that win will probably be followed by somethin’ stupid!!! and that ain’t hatin’ man…that is life as a Hawks fan. and if that’s not your experience then consider yourself lucky…or immune ;-)

I know there are many fans out there who are venting their DISPLEASURE with the performance of Marvin Williams. The only reason why I have written about 20 blogs about Marvin since we closed out Orlando is because I BELIEVE THAT MARVIN WILLIAMS WAS THE SAVIOR WHEN WE CLOSED OUT ORLANDO. MARVIN MADE SOME OF THE BIGGEST SHOTS OF HIS CAREER, AND THE IRONY IS THAT “WE HAD TO HAVE THEM”. IF MARVIN HAD MISFIRED ON ANY OF THEM, ORLANDO WOULD HAVE KNOCKED US OFF, AND WE WOULD HAVE CONTINUED TO BE THE LAUGHINGSTOCK OF THE NBA. THANK GOD FOR MARVIN WILLIAMS AND I WILL BE ETERNALLY GRATEFUL FOR HIS CAREER IN ATLANTA.

SteveW,

“And I’m a Smoove fan. Trust me. Just not a blind one”

Stop it with the I’m a fan of Josh stuff. No you are not. If you were a fan of Josh you would take the good with the bad, and not blame all of the Hawks problems on him. It’s the classic, I’m not racist, because I have black friends answer.

“And if Al complained about phantom calls, took halves off, jacked up horrible shots in 80 out of 82 games on a consistent basis, of course I would call him out also.”

So you mean to tell me that you have been watching the Hawks every game in these playoffs, and Al has not taken any halves off. Are we watching the same games? I just realized that he was still on the team yesterday. So you would rather him pass up multiple open looks, and not even try to score or take a bad shot? But your exuse for Al is that he is “Tired”. Your hatred of Josh is so strong that you don’t even realize how hypocrital you are. Again I ask you, in your opinion what is a bad shot for Josh Smith? Is it any jumpshot? Is it any 3 pointer? Or is it any jumpshot that is not in the flow of the offense as LD has been saying all year?

“JJ, Marvin, and Al don’t discombobulate when they make a bad play, or get a real or perceived bad call.”

Marvin and Al don’t make bad plays because they have been playing scared for most of the playoffs. It’s hard to make bad plays if you don’t try. JJ never complains about anything good or bad. Do Marvin Williams, Mike Bibby, Joe Johnnson and Jamal Crawford, play with more effort and energy than Josh Smith?

“And to bring Marvin into a discussion about Josh Smith is just weird.”

What’s so weird about it? One player has worked to improve his game to become a respected player in the league straight out of high school, with “mental issues” as you say, and is villified by the fans and the media, and the other was drafted to be one of the best players in the NBA, has not worked, has not improved his game in any way over 6 years, and is let off the hook by everyone except for a few bloggers on this blog. He starts just like Josh, he has been given the same opportunities, was supoposed to be better, and is probably the worse small forward in the NBA.
Just admit you dislike Josh because he is a “thug” and he is the cause of all the Hawks problems and move on. Al Horford, Marvin Williams and Joe Johnson can do no wrong to you, and they play the right way. So be it. I disagree.

SlimJr and Jeje bash Josh all the time. You don’t see us arguing back and forth all day because they also bash All Star Al, Joe, Bibby. They destroy Marvin, like he deserves to be destroyed, so they don’t look like hypocrites. You sir are a hypocrite. Josh is all things that is wrong with the Hawks (The Devil), and All Star Al is all thats right (God). LOL

Big Time on 680 Buck & Kincaid are flabbergasted about how fantastic teague is. They wanna know HOW a sleeping giant just wakes up and has game on the biggest stage against a MVP PG?

Where the hell has he been hiding – they ponder?

Are you saying that there is someone out there who still believes in regular contributions from Marvin? Me, once a week at best is when Marvin produces. He should have a contractor’s agreement and get paid for the actual work that he does as opposed to getting paid for just being in the lineup.

So much money going down the drain with Marvin….we were lucky to move Bibby. Him being gone has changed the moxie of this team. What is our record since Bibby has moved on? I know its better in the playoffs without him, and it took 2 #1 draft choices and Mo Evans for someone to take him. We will be in the same scenario with Marvin.

As for the team that comes out Tuesday? None of us know who will be focused. This is the most important game since the ‘88 Hawks lost in a Game 6 to the Celtics. It has been too long for most of us to even remember, but the Hawks had every edge in that series and couldn’t come together. It was Nique and pieces, similar to what DRose has in CHI.

DMB, 680 is that last place other than Clark Howard if you want to go for Hawks coverage. They give 15 minutes a day to the Hawks, who could be the best postseason team this city has…what does that tell you about our sports teams in this city?

LD, along with his predecessor, has no clue what to look for in a PG.

Billy Knight shouldn’t get any credit either. And I’m glad Woody gets little interest in other jobs around the league. If he does, he should be forced to have Shellhead as his C.

2 Lives Stews!

They were talking about Bosh and his 6pts 5 rebs in that game 3 loss to Boston. Bosh said he was, “Nervous.”

I bet he wasn’t Nervous when he signed that Max – Contract.
Ryan said, “How can you open your mouth and say you were too scared to play basketball, when that’s what you do for a living? Are you scared to eat and sleep too?” – paraphrased -

I wonder does Marvin played scared too? Josh sure as heck ain’t scared.
The Bulls better put that lolli-pop newspaper down and don’t believe their hype either. Be arrogant if you will, but, pride is before a crash!

See Lakers. I’m just sayin’. Noah looked very concerned last night, because they played their best and it wasn’t good enough against this Hawks team clicking on a North Star Engine with 32 valves.

That’s a Cadillac for those of you who don’t know engines.
That North Star is the equivalent of a 747 running on jet fuel on earth
with gravity! I know, my Grand-Father owned a car dealership when I was a kid. I know engines. The Hawks looked like a machine last night!

That’s some scary stuff. Why can’t we play like that every night?

Answer: WHY THE HELL HASN’T THIS KID BEEN PLAYING?

Can someone please answer me this?

Allow me Madame Curie.
In the Association playing time is based primarily on financial, practical and political considerations. The stars generate the most revenue-ticket and merchandise sales; the starters are the players who in the judgement of the coach(s) and others best fit into the particular franchises program and then there are those players who either make the coach happy or offend him in some manner-chocking him comes to mind.

In cases like the ownership of the Hawks, financial issues seem to be a substanial part of the decision making process. While M-V-Teague was drafted in the first round as a potential starter, one Mike Bibby, who at the time was the highest paid player on the team at $15 million per annum, was the incumbent at the point guard position and was reportedly well regarded by the then HC,a Mr. Woodson. ( In fact it has been suggested that the arrival of Mr. Bibby saved Mr. Woodson’s job, albeit temporarily)
Fast forward to today and you now have Captain Kirk coming aboard at a not unsubstanial $9 million salary and once again, there is the matter of money.
Hope that my SWAG offered some insight.

Marvin playing scared? Hardly, Marvin just isn’t talented. Is it me or has Marvin doubled in size below the waist since he came here?

The guy can’t finish at the rim. He hasn’t, he won’t and he needs to get minutes like a 10th man role player. A bigger bust than Shellhead if you can believe that…we knew Shellhead wasn’t talented enough to go 6th. Add Chills to that list at 6. At the Chills draft, I said anyone but Chills, and they didn’t listen.

Some memories just can’t be erased. Those Hawks draft parties have been some real memorable ones around town. “With the 21st pick in the NBA draft, the Atlanta Hawks select Boris Diaw – PG / France”…the whole place…crickets!

And let me give you the PGs who were drafted before ahead of Teague:

Tyreke Evans/Ricky Rubio/Jonny Flynn/Stephon Curry/Brandon Jennings/Jrue Holiday/Ty Lawson…..tell me who’s season is still going on out of these guys? And Curry was being hyped as a PG in the draft.

Teague has proven he belongs and he proved it against Lawson earlier this year. But LD just doesn’t see it.

For a team that needed a PG more than anyone, we might be down to just a couple of pieces to be a continuing contending team…..wonder what position we have extra talent at?

Marvin Williams is a buzz kill. That Kirk Hinrich trade is a buzz kill. Not playing Teague rotation minutes all season is a buzz kill. The ASG is buzz kill. Rick Sund is a buzz kill. LD’s performance in the regular season and during losses in the playoffs is buzz kill.

Don’t give LD an extinction he has not earned it because this team could already be in the ECFinals, with Jordan Crawford set to take over for Jamal, a 1st round pick coming up to draft a SF or Lucas Nogueira at C only if LD had been a full time competent NBA coach.

Let Sund walk

ASG sell

If you can’t move up in the draft select one of the following in 2nd round

Darius Morris PG 6″4= Could use his size once Hinrich is gone.

Kyle Singler SF 6″9= Can’t be any worse than Marvin.

Keith Benson C 6″11= He is tall and long, might help down the road, but he is not a starting C.

Jimmy Butler SF 6″7= Love his mid-range game it’s as good as Marvin’s but he does not have two left feet like Marvin.

Shelvin Mack combo guard 6″3= The type the Hawks love. Vinnie Johnson clone.

Jordan Williams PF/C 6″10= Where is the beef? He has it 260 pd guy that averaged a double double as a sophomore in the ACC last year.

Demetri McCamey PG 6″3= Big PG will be needed when Hinrich is gone.

Marshon Brooks SG 6″5= He can put the ball in the hole like Sund said about Jordan Crawford.

Giorgi Shermadini C 7″1= He could be close to Zaza, just a developmental big worth a mid to late 2nd.

Robin Benzing SF 6″10= A 6″10 SF prospect that supposedly can shoot it for a team that needs a backup SF with some explosiveness sounds good.

Chandler Parsons SF 6″8= The most overrated player I may have ever seen, but he may worth a pick and sending to the D League

Andrew Goudelock SG 6″2= Knock down shooter, Eddie House style

I just love this blog. Apart from a few crazies that make the same, multiple posts all the time, Hawks fans on this blog are very insightful, smart and even funny. Dr. Mary might be the funniest.

I go to other blogs and they are just a bunch of misguided, unable to spell souls hammering out gibbish. Keep it up, MC and Hawks fans.

I know a lot of you are salivating about Hawks having a chance to reach the ECF, but let’s slow our roll a little and take it game by game. We all know the team that we have and nobody on this planet can figure out which Hawks/Josh will show up, so let’s not get too carried away, let’s see what happens in game 5. I believe whoever wins game 5 will take the series.

I am happy and proud that Hawks are 2-2 versus the team with the best record in the league. I am happy that The Teaguer is playing so well and ganering national attention. I am glad that Hawks were able to, at least for another game, shut up TNT and ESPN crews that always show the negatives about us. To tell the truth, Inside The NBA is not as funny or good as it used to be.

Having said that, Let’s Go, Hawks!

Rod – “f you were a fan of Josh you would take the good with the bad, and not blame all of the Hawks problems on him. ”

Rod, that may have been the stupidest statement on this blog ever by anyone. I have blamed LD, Bibby, Al, JJ, Jamal, Marvin, ZaZa and many others for lot’s of things over the course of time.

Don’t be stupid. The Hawks problems run far deeper than Josh. I know it and of course you know it.

“So you mean to tell me that you have been watching the Hawks every game in these playoffs, and Al has not taken any halves off. Are we watching the same games? I just realized that he was still on the team yesterday.”

Oh, I didn’t know we were just talking about the playoffs.

And no, I kaven’t seen Al take a half off. I’ve seen Al try to pace himself because his coach won’t utilize some of his other players for even spot minutes.

See Al playing more mpg than Josh during the playoffs.
I’ve seen Al average a double/double

I’ve seen Al lead us in Assists for the playoffs.

You said, “Your hatred of Josh is so strong that you don’t even realize how hypocrital you are.”

So I guess that’s why I wrote a lengthy blog on why Al needs to man up, bulk up, learn a low post game and be a C against 75% of the NBA.

Not to bright. Your smarter than this Rod.

You said, “Again I ask you, in your opinion what is a bad shot for Josh Smith? Is it any jumpshot? Is it any 3 pointer? Or is it any jumpshot that is not in the flow of the offense as LD has been saying all year? ”

LD has been very inconsistent with his media comments on this. Sometimes he seems to indicate that most shots Josh takes from 15+ feet are bad. Most, but not all. Then LD gives the working on shot stuff.

So i would say when Josh takes a 15+ footer with more than 10 seconds on the clock against most guys constitutes a bad shot. And when he keeps firing away, and is a momentum killer, it’s bad.

And I think your love for Josh is so strong your blind to the truth. It’s like saying a black man must be right because he is a black man, not because of what he does.

Rod, you said, “Do Marvin Williams, Mike Bibby, Joe Johnnson and Jamal Crawford, play with more effort and energy than Josh Smith?”

Sometimes and sometimes not.

Are you saying that Josh plays with more energy all the time, some time, more of the time or what?

Does Josh take more time off on the court on a consistent basis than most? Yes.

“with “mental issues” as you say, and is villified by the fans and the media,” And I suppose everybody is just stupid or blind not to point out Josh’s weakness?

Mental issues with no qualifiers like “on the court”? Come on Rod.

“Just admit you dislike Josh because he is a “thug” and he is the cause of all the Hawks problems and move on.”

That is a race baiting lie, so of course I would not admit it. When almost all of my favorite players are black that would be strange.

Got any white favorite players Rod? You seem very racist.

You said, “Al Horford, Marvin Williams and Joe Johnson can do no wrong to you, and they play the right way”

That of course is ann ignorant statement if you have read alot of the blogs I post. I bash those guys all of the time. When needed, just like Josh.

You said “SlimJr and Jeje bash Josh all the time. You don’t see us arguing back and forth all day because they also bash All Star Al, Joe, Bibby. They destroy Marvin, like he deserves to be destroyed, so they don’t look like hypocrites. You sir are a hypocrite.
