Greetings, all-
Hope you’re well. About to head to the court. The lineup: Kirk Hinrich, Marvin Williams, Josh Smith, Al Horford, Jason Collins. Interesting collection. We’ll see how it shakes out.
Gotta run. Will chime in.

This game really shows the “potential” Josh Smith has when he keeps his head in the game his passing and rebounding really power the Hawks fast break. You can’t trade him strictly because of the “potential”.
It is good to see Teague on the floor even if it is strictly as a defensive specialist. Playing time is playing time. There aren’t many pg’s that can stop Baron Davis, JTO is doing a decent job on him….

Yes, Teague had three or four bad defensive possessions against Baron. He also had several good defensive possessions including the one where he forced Baron into an airball and a couple where he broke up passes leading to turnovers or forced shots, and he led at least two successful fast break opportunities. If you expect him to dominate the game every time he plays you are always going to be disappointed, but he certainly played well enough to secure a consistent role in the rotation, as he always does.

Not really. But he has to play, in my opinion, to keep Jamal from playing PG. And if it balances it the team, that’s great.
What he needs to realize, is that he’s going to have to play hard EVERY NIGHT. When you’re only going to get a chance to play 5 – 15 minutes on a given night, you have to give it all you have. And you have to consistently do the type of things that you are known for.
If that’s defense, then bring it on defense EVERY NIGHT. If it’s playing the speed game, then be the speedy player EVERY NIGHT. He can’t afford to take nights off, in his situation.
The fact that Drew chose to start Mr. Useless ( Jason Collins ) instead of Teague, is not a good mark for Teague at all. We’re down a guard, and he starts a center?

And while people are dissing Smith, he’s on the verge of getting a triple-double in the 3rd quarter. Despite the jumpers, a great game by him. I love when he’s rebounding like this.

And the same goes for Marvin, as goes for Teague. It shouldn’t matter if JJ is in the game. Why can’t he do this on a consistent basis? Heck, he’s wide open when JJ’s playing.

When Horford’s NBA career is over, he can find work at the State Department negotiating “non-aggression” pacts.
I wish I didn’t feel that way.

The Hawks are doing a bad job of boxing out right now. Especially, Josh. He’s letting Hickson run rampant on the boards. That failed box-out off of the free throw miss early was just completely unacceptable. Are we going to get the “bad Josh” in this half, since we got the “good Josh” (to some extent) in the first half?

Ray . . tell Horford to help on the boards. Josh has 16 rebounds. Tell Collins or Horford to help out.
LOL @ talking about Josh not rebounding, when Marvin has just as many rebounds as Horford and Collins combined

northcyde,
In case you didn’t know, it’s boxing out that makes those rebounds available. Part of the reason that Josh has so many rebounds is probably due to the fact that guys like Horford and Collins are boxing out. With their men sealed, all Josh has to do is out-jump his man or wander to get the board. It’s not always the guy who boxes out who gets the rebound. I’m not complaining about Josh not rebounding, he’s doing a great job collecting loose balls. I’m complaining about not boxing out. Everyone on the team fails to box out once in a while, but there was a stretch there in the third quarter where Josh was continually failing to put a body on his man (Hickson), and HIckson was collecting offensive rebound after offensive rebound. Take a look at the footage if you have DVR.
By the way, I agree that Horford and Collins should have more rebounds than they do at this point, however, that doesn’t mean they aren’t boxing out. On another note, Collins has never been that great of a rebounder, so Marvin having more boards than him is not much of a surprise.

Horford has no interest in giving the ball to Teague after a rebound.
