Greetings, all
Hope you’re well. I commend your loyalty if you’re spending a Sunday afternoon with this team (which, if you’re reading this, I presume you are).
A few notes, and on to the game.
1) Your team’s lineup: Al Horford, Josh Smith, Marvin Williams, Kirk Hinrich, Joe Johnson. Larry Drew said he went with the lineup to match up with Detroit’s size in the backcourt.
2) Drew: “We’ve got to bring a physical style to the way we play. We can’t be a soft team.” I’ll leave it to you to connect the dots. Jeff Schultz is here for a column, and I gather his column will do that for you.
3) I asked Drew Saturday about the possibility of starting blog fave Damien Wilkins. “At this point, I won’t rule out anything. I do love what he brings to the table. His competitiveness, particularly on the guy that he’s defending. He’s one of our best defenders. But he plays with a physical style and I like that and we need that early in the game.”
I’m going to guess that addressing the possibility of Wilkins starting with “I won’t rule out anything” isn’t exactly an endorsement of it becoming a reality.
4) Hopefully you read my story about the Hawks’ leaders not being the types to confront and police one another.
5) Enjoy the game.

Just A Thought!
Wizards 94 Nets 90 w/1- min to go.
Jordan Craw scored 25 on 27 shots last time out. He is establishing himself as a high volume scorer w/a questionable and low fg% to go along with his small size and not as a defensive stopper.
Here’s my point: on a play off team he was never gonna’ get that many attempts. Within a TEAM concept only Superstars with HOF aspirations are tolerated to take so many looks.

Ken S:
Good article on team leadership. Big Ray also posted a good one a couple of weeks ago on leadership from the team captains in which he questioned whether naming 3 captains was a good/bad decision.
This team continues to exhibit its dysfunctional nature in the comments that have been made as well as the way they are delivered (as you pointed out). I wonder if a player’s feelings were hurt midseason over being made accountable for shot selection whether said player would be crying in June if he was wearing a championship ring? Just a thought.
Dynamics of dysfunctionality play out in teams whether they are in the boardroom or on the court: if there is no trust among the team, members don’t share constructive feedback and criticism with each other. If feedback is withheld and the team’s production languishes, personal agendas take precedence over the success of the team.
If the team is afraid to hurt each other’s feelings, maybe they all need to chip in and hire a facilitator. If they want to be elite and win as much as they give lip service about, it’s time for thinking way outside the box!

@bigdave-
Bob also said in the pregame analysis with Nique that we’d be in for a little payback to Orlando…um, Bob, we gotta win (actually, sweep with large point margins) in order to “payback.” Too many mimosas at Sunday Brunch, Bob?

I didn’t expect Teague to get much PT today because of Detroit’s big guards but a DNP-CD is inexcusable

Fortune 500 companies do it all the time. I’ve witnessed enough dysfunctional team dynamics in my career to fill Philips. At least enough to pinpoint it for this team. Hire a facilitator, complete with personality analysis (emotional intelligence is my personal favorite) and learn how to work together.
Many on this blog have said “blow up the blessed core,” but that’s indicative of changing the dynamic in hopes that the dysfunctionality is addressed. IMHO, blowing up the core isn’t necessary IF they figure out how to build trust among the core allowing them to function as a successful team.
My example of successfully addressing a team dynamic to create trust and feedback would be what Doc Rivers did with the Celtics when Ray, KG, and Paul came together. I suggest a facilitator for the Hawks b/c I don’t think LD has the wherewithall to do what Doc did.

Six minutes left in the game. Still DNP for Teague. What would the Hawks have ever done without Jamal’s 2/7 shooting and 6 points off the bench in 24 minutes.
