Hawks-Pistons game thread
Greetings, all
Hope you’re well. I commend your loyalty if you’re spending a Sunday afternoon with this team (which, if you’re reading this, I presume you are).
A few notes, and on to the game.
1) Your team’s lineup: Al Horford, Josh Smith, Marvin Williams, Kirk Hinrich, Joe Johnson. Larry Drew said he went with the lineup to match up with Detroit’s size in the backcourt.
2) Drew: “We’ve got to bring a physical style to the way we play. We can’t be a soft team.” I’ll leave it to you to connect the dots. Jeff Schultz is here for a column, and I gather his column will do that for you.
3) I asked Drew Saturday about the possibility of starting blog fave Damien Wilkins. “At this point, I won’t rule out anything. I do love what he brings to the table. His competitiveness, particularly on the guy that he’s defending. He’s one of our best defenders. But he plays with a physical style and I like that and we need that early in the game.”
I’m going to guess that addressing the possibility of Wilkins starting with “I won’t rule out anything” isn’t exactly an endorsement of it becoming a reality.
4) Hopefully you read my story about the Hawks’ leaders not being the types to confront and police one another.

Wilkins, Teague and Marvin played well against Miami. Teague gets rewarded with a DNP. Great coaching LD! Way to send a message of you being a liar after all the accolades you rained on him after the Portland game.

I think northcyde nailed it the other day. There has got to be something going on between Teague and Drew that we are not aware of. It makes absolutely no sense to hold Teague out of the rotation.

Has anyone happen to notice how smooth the offense runs without Josh Smith, forget the few jumpshots that he’s hit, that’s a fluke, but, watch the defensive and offensive rotations when he is not in the lineup

Teague should be getting some minutes to help him get ready for Tuesday, because if Jamal plays backup PG against Chicago, we will be in trouble.
But hey, its all good, because LD still believes in Jeff.

LD – I still believe in Jeff Teague. Don’t worry, the quote is coming just like I said it would after the Portland game. Ld forced to play Teague, then a 2 game gradual out of the rotation. It happened.
Next comes LD believing in Teague.
Weird.
We should’ve traded Teague also, for his sake.

Teague and Damien were the only ones who seem to care in the Miami game and Teague gets rewarded with no minutes smdh..and once again LD chooses offense over defense. the hawks should win but i could see detroit tking this game because the hawks let teams back into games

Hate to say it JCII has 19 points on 8-16 shooting. He has played 40 minutes. Since we are not going resign JC, JCII would have been a good option. Marvin has 3 points 4 rebs..great job LD. Oh, Stuckey has 8 points playing pt coming off bench.

Free Jeff Teague
I just woke up halfway through the first quarter. Figured I’d check the box score to see if Teague had played yet. I see Sorry Drew is back to his Woody Jr. ways when it comes to him. I see he’s playing plenty of Jamal at the point again. He’ll probably get away with it against this worthless team and talk himself into that being a good decision going forward.
At this point Teague is the main reason I watch this team. If Sorry Drew won’t play him in regular time, I’ll wait for garbage time before I start watching.
