Hawks-Nuggets game thread

Greetings, all-

Ken here. Sorry for the late start. A few notes, nothing earth-shattering.

1) Same lineup.

2) Larry Drew’s keys: Defend the 3, transition defense, defend the pick and roll, make Denver work on defense, move the ball side to side, good shot selection. Something tells me you’ve read that before.

3) An obvious matchup to watch is Jeff Teague-Ty Lawson. You may remember that they were drafted No. 18-19 in the 2009 draft.

4) Joe Johnson is still wearing a headband. Not a superstitious type, apparently, or at least someone with an interest in being sanitary, he broke out a fresh Air Jordan headband for the Nuggets.

lol. Stinger just quoted me on the Nuggets future..

i like there team though.. fast.. but nowhere near finesse.. there like a gritty suns team from back in the day.. shoot the 3 ball.. run.. but they 2 deep.. and defend.. 2 smart pg’s. that are likely better than your 2 pgs..

not to mention we didnt even see young Nilo..

When LD chooses to go for offense instead of defense this usually happens. His rotations and sub patterns have been bad pretty much all year. I truly don’t understand how he doesn’t realize Jamal shouldn’t be playing pg. Its mind boggling that he continues to do it.

When its all said and done, we should have kept Woodson and Bibby. We wont even win 46 games this year. Yall were mad about us losing in the second round last year. How ya gonna feel when we get put out the first round.

Hubie Brown mentioned recently that in college, the coaches win games and the players lose them; while in the NBA, the players win games and the coaches lose them. That’s spoken right from the mouth of a guy who coached for most of his life and is a hall-of-famer when it comes to the game of Basketball. I couldn’t agree more with Mr. Brown.

@AspiringHawksfan-Any other coach would not put up with Josh shooting jumpers. He would be buried deep on the bench. His Dad is telling him to shoot more jumpers. Thats the way his dad played back in the day

Well we l0st by 15 points. Somehow when a prson launches balls and winds up 1 for 9 before the half is over a light should come on that says “STOP YOU BUFFOON”. Not that “smoove” idiot, he just keeps on keeping on launching. He takes the wind out of the team and ISO’s POUNDING does the same thing. It’s hard to believe there’s a coach on the sideline because LD ain’t bout nothing. The game was over when Denver caught up and they never should have caught up. We got some dumbass players folks and a coach that’s more dumb then the players. Josh Smith is simply “STOO-PID”, that’s it in a nutshell, no basketball sense at all and it does affect the team and I don’t care how much they say they like each other. When Smith gets a rebound he’s to dumb to give it to a guard, it’s just that simple also. Al could hardly get the ball into his hands tonight because of all the silly, dumb, stupid, ignorant and assinine play from the “smoove” and ISO the POUNDER. Friday we play the HEAT and that could be a disaster. Management needs to FIRE LARRY DREW NOW!!!!!!

Oh man, Chris Paul is getting back to #1 PG Form, 24 Pts. 3 steals 6 assists 4 boards in 25 minutes.

I think the only games I’ll watch are against Miami, Boston, and Chicago, maybe Spurs. I just can’t handle this inconsistency between LD, and the players hard to watch.

I think I am being taking out of context. I am not saying we should have kept Woody, I am just saying that the team needs a coach that is bigger than the team. Right now, the team is bigger than the coach and when things hit a road block, they all look around like, what do we do now? No leadership, on and off the court.

As for the Bibby trade, I did not mind that as I think Heinrich is a good player and could be a good PG on the court. Teague is the future but having Heinrich is a good thing and the man does defend which Bibby did not. Bibby will get exposed in the playoffs and will be a liability for the Heat against the top PGs.

I was really just stating the simple fact that the level of accountability at the top was apparently non-existent. J-Smoove is a VERY good player and though I do not feel feel he is fully healed from his knee injury, if you got the right coach in, the guys would be a multi-all-star.

Question is, who is the right fit as the coach? and being a newbie to the ATL, is the ASG too cheap to hire the right guy? Sorry, LD is probably a nice guy but he is not the right fit for this team.

Although I appreciate your momma teaching you not to hate,
how did it come to be that you developed your cultural bias’.

On a more positive note;
I agree and have said before, that Josh has a short shelf life
as an NBA player due to his lack of skill once his athleticism
diminishes.

Captains?

Not ONE captain came out to address the media. Nane’ not Nane’ one. They pushed tonight’s leader, ZaZa out to spit on the mike!

Have you ever seen anyone except LeBron or DWade come out to address the media. Call them Cry-Ami if we will, at least they care enough to cry after a loss! My Hawks don’t even give a damn!

Where was the jump-shooter josh? Why can’t MC get in the locker room and ask him, what was he thinking after the 10th brick. Then ask Joe what happened to his jump-shot and assists. Then ask Al, why he runs away from the ball and the post. Why he so slow to make a move in the post, instead of praying for a double team – so he can have an excuse to pass it out to Josh.

Of course Josh’s man will come to double yall, they been doing it all year! They hope you pass it to him and they hope he shoots it from out there. Drive it josh! Don’t shoot it! It’s a trap!
_____________

Drew didn’t sit josh down long enough! He needed him to defend the rim. This team got needs man! We need pieces that can play! Where was Damien! Bibby is gonna’ clown us again on Friday with his daggers. I’m done.

Well Grandad, I hate to be like that because I choose to hope that there is a God and I know if he exist he does not discriminate against race, but I was dropped down here on this earth and in the US where I see nothing but hate and unfair advantages given to the other side when they have had to earn very little in a righteous manner.

Now back to basketball, Josh has to be traded and LD has to be fired.

He once filled the stats sheet and it seemed natural, now it seems like he is trying to force the stats sheet.

Didn’t catch the entire game. Caught the 4th quarter though. We were right there, could’ve won this game. Stupid plays, stupid rotations, and just pure stupidity result in another typical loss.

I didn’t catch the whole game, so I don’t know whether something happened to either one of these guys, but, we went without Hinrich/Teague the entire 4th quarter. Why?

Pretty dumb watching J.Smith trying to check JR Smith.

I understand Horford may not have been successful checking Nene, but it’s not as if Josh on JR is the ideal matchup for the Hawks either.

Personally, just my opinion, Jamal leaving this team would be best for this team. He doesn’t blend. This isn’t an assessment based on his play tonight, but just based on how coach plays the rotations with Jamal. I understand he’s the reigning 6th man of the year, but this guy’s play leaves everybody else on the team on an island. By that I mean, he’s not really the ideal fit for this team. He’s more of a one man unit. Jamal vs. the opposing 5. He doesn’t really find his shots through the flow of the offense, unless he’s assisted a look from the wings. Otherwise, it’s just ISO-Jamal.

I like his offensive ability. I just don’t think he’s a guy to move forward with. Playing with him seems uncomfortable. Everybody’s forced to defer to him.

Grandad, I just got back from the game. I saw Josh go and sit at the end of the bench. Timeout was called shortly after and Josh did not bother to go join the huddle. He just sat at the end of the bench and pouted. A true captain…

Can’t get rid of that guy fast enough, as far as I’m concerned. My favorite Josh run of the game: Hawks have it down to 3 and Josh takes (and bricks) a jumper with about 18-seconds still on the shot clock. Then, he goes back on D and watches JR Smith hit a three (literally, he just watched). Next, down 6 now, Josh takes the ball, turns into a double team, and throws up an awful shot (misses, of course). This is followed by another JR Smith 3.

How some of you can still defend that guy is beyond me. Stop getting seduced by his few dunks and few blocks and look at the entire body of work. Team is better off without him.

The NBA Cares?

Really?
_____________

Mr. Blank cares! He comes out of the owner’ s box and strolls the sidelines to encourage his franchise win or lose. Atta Boys! Pats on the backs!

Have we ever seen an owner or GM behind the bench to support this team? If I ever saw one of the 8 feces throwing orangutans in public, I wouldn’t even recognize their faces. They don’t care and the players know it too! The players don’t play like they care.

All 8 owners should be in the locker room blasting this team tonight. Lock the doors and gates and don’t let them go home till they cry!
Demand better! Demand that the fill these stands! The fans don’t care either, they root and chant MVP for Kobe and Amare and the home fans just sit there and say nothing! We are “The Lost Boys” and I won’t even disrespect the Sudans like that!

I’m done altering my schedule to watch these Hawks!

Imo get me a LIFE! Turn my LIFE around! In the morning? I’m going to Nail School!

I havent looked at the numbers, but vava (and northcyde maybe?) has been saying most of the year that more often than not, there are key shifts in momentum when Jamal plays backup PG late 3rd quarter and for extended minutes into the 4th.

I dont think LD knows how to maximize the effectiveness of his players. This may be too much to expect of any HC, but…

1) LD needs to limit Jamal minutes some more
2) Play Kirk more in the 4th
3) Find a way to get Josh to cut down his jumpers (especially early in the game)
4) Get JJ to be more decisive with the ball
5) Find a way to get Al more touches in games like this.

Is that too much to ask…
