Hawks-Nuggets game thread
Greetings, all-
Ken here. Sorry for the late start. A few notes, nothing earth-shattering.
1) Same lineup.
2) Larry Drew’s keys: Defend the 3, transition defense, defend the pick and roll, make Denver work on defense, move the ball side to side, good shot selection. Something tells me you’ve read that before.
3) An obvious matchup to watch is Jeff Teague-Ty Lawson. You may remember that they were drafted No. 18-19 in the 2009 draft.
4) Joe Johnson is still wearing a headband. Not a superstitious type, apparently, or at least someone with an interest in being sanitary, he broke out a fresh Air Jordan headband for the Nuggets.

Lawson had a good 1st half tonight but go look at his stats for the last Hawks against the Hawks. Heck, look at UNC stats we he played against Teague at Wake Forest….

Bucks game was our game of the month when the jumpers fell. Now back to the usual stuff. Lack of consistency will kill us in the playoffs.

That’s not something to joke about. What he had to go through was terrible, and I wouldn’t joke about anyone in that position. This type of humor is cold, offensive, and disgusting. You can make all the jokes you want, but don’t be disrespectful toward people with terminal illnesses. That’s just plain wrong.
Those of us who are healthy are incredibly fortunate to not have to suffer the way the terminally ill have to suffer throughout their lives. If you were in Nene’s position back then, I’m sure you wouldn’t be cracking jokes like that.

I don’t think many people expected Joe to actually maintain the level of production that he had in last night’s game. It’s not really that Joe went through any major change, he just had one really nice game, and now he’s come back down to Earth. Games like tonight’s game are pretty much the norm for Joe these days. He’s become of a low-efficiency, high volume scorer. It’s a little bit disappointing, but that’s just how it is these days.

JJ has missed his last 5 or 6 threes, counting the 2 or 3 misses last night. Just don’t arbitrarily bomb away from 3, simply because you were hot last night. Play your game and establish the floater and the midrange stuff.
Josh and JJ are a combined 4 – 18 FGs . . . can’t win with both of them shooting a combined 22%.
As for Horford, yes he only has 2 shots, and yes he needs to be more assertive. My question is . . with all of the bricks shot up tonight, why hasn’t he grabbed 3 or 4 offensive rebounds and tried to put them back in the hole?
Sometimes you just need to mix it up in the paint, and fight for loose balls , and put them in the hole.

Outside of Al, our starters are really shooting the ball horribly tonight. Teague, Hinrich, Joe, and Josh are a combined 10-34 from the field. We really need to get Al going because no one else seems to have anything on the offensive end tonight.
