Hawks-Nuggets game thread
Greetings, all-
Ken here. Sorry for the late start. A few notes, nothing earth-shattering.
1) Same lineup.
2) Larry Drew’s keys: Defend the 3, transition defense, defend the pick and roll, make Denver work on defense, move the ball side to side, good shot selection. Something tells me you’ve read that before.
3) An obvious matchup to watch is Jeff Teague-Ty Lawson. You may remember that they were drafted No. 18-19 in the 2009 draft.
4) Joe Johnson is still wearing a headband. Not a superstitious type, apparently, or at least someone with an interest in being sanitary, he broke out a fresh Air Jordan headband for the Nuggets.

Josh is really annoying me tonight. He’s taken 9 jump shots already (and missed them all), and a total of 12 shots in the half so far. He’s only made 3 of those shots. He has as many attempts as Kirk, Joe, and Al combined. When he plays like this, it really hurts us. He’s played good on the defense end, but his awful play on the offensive end has more than covered up for his strong defensive play. Denver is baiting him into those shots, but that doesn’t mean he has to take them.

Also, Joe is playing like a selfish scrub right now. He’s forcing tough shot after tough shot and refusing to pass the ball when the defense collapses on him.

zaza is working hard… i still dont want him on the hawks next year.. but he is working hard this game.. jeff teague doesnt play without the ball well.. he just stands around when he dont have the ball. Josh Smith needs to stop shooting .. just for tonight.. marvin just layed it in.. teague on the assist

Joe decides to go against 3 defenders instead of passing it to a wide open Teague at the 3pt line 2 ft in front of him. This is frustrating.

How in the world Al only has 2 field goal attempts so far in this game is mind boggling. I think it’s a combination of him not being aggressive enough and his teammates failing to pass him the ball in his sweet spots and in the post. At any rate, Al needs to be a lot more involved in the offense. The way he’s play in the last couple of games has been sickening and disappointing. We need to run a lot more plays through Al and he needs to be more assertive with the ball. Al’s one of the most unselfish players I’ve ever watched, but sometimes he’s just too unselfish. He needs to take a play out of Joe’s book once in a while and hog the ball.

Very interesting game. I hope we win in front of Mr. Blank tonight.
Josh’s terrible, selfish play has cost us a half-time lead.
What is he thinking out there? He wants to win so bad, but he doesn’t trust his teammates.
Calm down Josh, we need you to win this game.
I hope coach pulls him into the office and have a productive
conversation. Tell him those were all bad shots!
