Greetings, all-
Ken here. Sorry for the late start. A few notes, nothing earth-shattering.
1) Same lineup.
2) Larry Drew’s keys: Defend the 3, transition defense, defend the pick and roll, make Denver work on defense, move the ball side to side, good shot selection. Something tells me you’ve read that before.
3) An obvious matchup to watch is Jeff Teague-Ty Lawson. You may remember that they were drafted No. 18-19 in the 2009 draft.
4) Joe Johnson is still wearing a headband. Not a superstitious type, apparently, or at least someone with an interest in being sanitary, he broke out a fresh Air Jordan headband for the Nuggets.

“Marvin FG% = 45%
JJ FG% = 44.5%
Jamal FG% = 42%
So, if we are going to scream inconsistency, let’s label the whole team as inconsistent because your Alpha and Beta Dogs are the head of the snake.”
Joe and Jamal face much greater defensive attention and much greater roles in the offense than Marvin. Comparing FG% outright doesn’t really mean much, or else Nene would be the best front court scorer in the league year in and year out.

“When compared to other SFs, the only thing Marvin is above average in, is FT shooting and rebounding. And even at 5.1 a game, his rebounding is kind of below average for a guy his size.”
He seems to be better at rebounding when he comes off the bench, though. I don’t know if there is a stat that backs that up.

Bob Rathbun – “The Hawks have taken 5 shots and Josh has taken 4 of them.” Once again, Josh is trying to do too much. He’s now taken 7 shots already. Come on, Josh. Enough is enough, you don’t have to be the leading scorer. Just focus on defense and play your game.

It wasn’t all jumpers either. Post ups, layups… Smoove was missing everything. Time to start setting up Al with some of those shots, and time for Smoove to start trying to find teammates instead of get on the scoreboard.

Also, not that he has necessarily been all that bad, but Teague seems to struggle defensively against Lawson in a way that he doesn’t struggle against Jennings, Nash, Curry, Miller, etc.

Nice steal by Teague, but Al f-cked up that previous possession by passing to Zaza with little time on the clock instead of taking the shot.
Usual story. Smoove too aggressive, Al too passive.

Hawks doing a lot of showing on screens defensively, some switching, but also doing a good job recovering (which has been the key to their defensive success over the last several minutes).

L.D. Keeps This Rotation, except when we play Orlando or Boston with Shaq and we should be competitive in the playoffs. The team is much more versatile when LD plays Teague or Twin and Benchs Marvin. Marvin is makes our bench so much stronger and Jamal plays better with Kirk and Teague Plays Better with the Starters, it is what it is.
