Los Angeles–It seems Hawks GM Rick Sund has cast a wide net in the team’s search for a bona fide point guard.
In addition to Cleveland’s Ramon Sessions, the Hawks also have inquired about New Jersey’s Devin Harris. Those discussions could pick up now that Harris won’t be going to Denver as part of a deal for ‘Melo, who was traded to the Knicks tonight.
Harris, who turns 27 28 on Sunday, would meet Atlanta’s desire for a capable defender who also can push the pace and create shots for others. But he makes $9.3 million in 2011-12, and adding his salary to the roughly $65 million Atlanta has committed for next season would push Atlanta’s payroll above the current luxury-tax threshold (which could change in the new CBA). Harris also is owed $8.5 million in 2012-13.
It’s not clear whom the Hawks would offer for Harris. Jamal Crawford seems to be the obvious candidate because his expiring $10.1 million contract would allow the Nets to carve out even more cap space for next season–they have just $37 million in committed salaries. Also, the Nets are said to be one of the teams interesting in signing Crawford if he becomes a free agent this summer. But so far there’s been no indication that Sund is looking to move Crawford.
The Hawks also figure to have competition to acquire Harris. Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports tweeted tonight: “Dallas, Denver and New Jersey have discussed three-way that would land Harris with Mavs and Felton and Mozgov with Nets, source says.”
However, David Aldridge of TNT and NBA.com later tweeted: “Nuggets will NOT move Gallo/Mozgov to NJ. ‘We got these guys to play for the Nuggets,’ GM Masai Ujiri says.”
Marc J. Spears of Yahoo Sports tweeted: “Portland considering sending G Andre Miller and C Joel Pryzbilla to New Jersey for G Devin Harris and C Troy Murphy, sources tell Y! Sports”

what you think of Jonas Jerebko. He could really be a good bench guy for us and maybe play Center in a small lineup

#1 Hawks Fan, I don’t think I want the Hawks to trade Josh. He’s a Hawk, bottom line. The guy drives me nuts some times, but he’s our guy. I don’t want to see him in another uniform.
And, while on the subject, I think it would be weird to see Marvin in another uniform, too. But, if Marvin can bring Devon Harris, Marvin gots to go.

“From what I hear from a person inside the Piston’s organization, look for a trade soon (this evening) between the Hawks, Pistons, and New Jersey involving Jamal Crawford, Marvin Williams, Zaza Pachulia, and draft picks. Based on what he said, we are getting a pg and a big. ”
WARNING: POT SMOKING AND BLOGGING DON’T MIX
Conventional wisdom says the EC teams are more likely to deal with WC teams in big trades as a preference. Of course there are exceptions to the rules but I’ll take that bet.

#1 Hawks fan, “I would guess Tayshaun instead of T-Mac and Will Bynum instead of Stuckey. I could see Ben Wallace as the “big” though. Wallace is expendable with Monroe and Maxiell in the front court. Detroit has a lot of good pieces we could use. Thats why I am so inclined to see them as a trade partner.”
If its a 3-team trade, then what are the Hawks getting from the Nets?

#1 Hawks Fan, are you sure Marvin is involved, we should put Mo Evans up instead…
To be honest the last thing I want to see on this team is Mo Evans and Josh Smith playing more 3. Marvin is a certified SF and if Mo was gone it would only free up time for Damien and Marvin.

#1 Hawks Fan, that must mean RIP goes to the Nets, right? I don’t see him coming here. And, of course, Devon Harris comes to Atlanta.
Any trade that involves the Nets & Hawks has to end with Devon Harris coming to Atlanta, as far as I’m concerned. He would be the crown jewel of the deal.

Jae Evolution, I agree. I can’t stand Mo Evans. I think the guy is worthless (though, he hit some big shots in the 1st half against the Knicks last week). Would love to see Evans get sent somewhere. I would take a bag of balls in return.

Could be Harris & Murphy to Hawks…Jamal, Marvin & Pachulia to Pistons…And, Rip & Prince to Nets. Just guessing, but that would be a good move for the Hawks from a cap management stand point. Not sure why Nets would want Rip, but they did earlier this year when he was going to be coming along with Melo.

terrell, for the record, I don’t want Devin Harris….I will gladly take Avery Johnson because the core is too comfortable and not playing hard enough for Larry. Too late I know…
#1HF, how many people will be in a uproar if we end up with Rip? The Pistons are simply in rebuild mode…..I know you said a PG and C, but don’t let rumors fool you….no ASG member thinks we need a PG or C….hasn’t that been proven?

Did you read Grandad’s post to MC yesterday about there being no harm in posting trade rumors? What if there is not even a lick of reality to the Devin Harris story and MC posted it just to mess with Grandad?
But I don’t care if its false or not. I’ve been checking the blog every hour to see of anything credible is in the wind. I’m not buying what #1 Hawks Fan is selling, but I’m glad he posted it because it makes for an exciting afternoon of speculation.

Ok, I gotta throw this out there….right before the deadline….
What is the single best player we could get for Smoove? What is he worth in the market? Do the Nuggets have an interest?
Would someone look at him as a SF instead of a PF?
That is the kind of deal that needs to be done…..bring in a big piece to the starting lineup and get rid of the inconsistent ones. Because of Smoove’s preference to go to SF, he has had a whopping total of 1 block the last 3 games. We need him on the inside.

Things are getting interesting:
Blazers Expected To Trade Miller, Camby
The Blazers are expected to trade Andre Miller and Marcus Camby prior to Thursday’s trade deadline, according to a source.
Miller and Camby are both in their mid-30s and the Blazers are motivated to get younger.
Camby has openly contemplated retirement if Portland trades him.
Miller is signed to a non-guaranteed contract for the 11-12 season.
