Greetings, all-
This is Ken sitting in for MC, who’s getting some needed down time. I know it was hard for him to pass up a trip to beautiful Milwaukee (just ask Josh Smith), but discretion is the better part of valor, as they say.
I was going to post a little earlier, but wanted to let the Carmelo thread get more of a run. Interesting, I thought, though, as Mike pointed out, I don’t know what the Hawks have that they’d be willing to give up that the Nuggets would really want. Maybe the Hawks could arrange a three-way trade and be able to use Carmelo like a timeshare.
Anyway, some tidbits from the shootaround.
- Al Horford and Marvin Williams both shot and will be ready. Larry Drew sounded like he was planning on giving Wiliams about 20 minutes of playing time.
- Drew is going with the big lineup to tangle with Andrew Bogut.
- Drew said the team is playing better on the road in part because it’s understanding that you have to play differently on the road than you do at the super-energized Philips Arena.
Drew: “When you look at our team in the past, and when I say past I’m saying years back, we’ve tried to play the same way on the road as we do at home, and the one thing I tried to instill in these guys is the fact that the mindset has to be a little different on the road because you can’t play with the pace on the road like you do at home.”
- Hawks wearing the red uni’s again. They’re 4-0 thus far in them this season.
- Got any questions for Jamal Crawford? Get them to me by the time I get to the arena for open locker room (6:30 EST) and I’ll ask what I can. (Presuming he’s willing and available, which he generally is.)
- Question – as best I can tell, there’s five arenas in the NBA that aren’t named by a corporation. The Bradley Center (named after a local philanthropist) is one of them. Can you name the others? No googling, please.

If Jamal is going to pass it to a wide open Smoove — who does after all make 39% of his 3’s — that is not a bad shot. Criticize him when he forces it early in the clock, not when he shoots it in rhythm in the flow of the offense.

Idk how we can even be close in this game, half their starters are injured their best player on the perimeter has been in foul trouble all game long, this is pathetic.

I thought the motion offense was supposed to cure these offensive droughts?
This looked like one of our fourth quarters under Woody.
I can hear LD now. Our energy in the fourth was lacking…

For this team have so many so called all stars, they sure do fold up in the clutch alot. Nothing but horrible shot selection from panicking.

Atlanta has shifted gears to Woodson mode now. Iso Joe and horrible shots. Someone slap Drew and tell him to get his act together. What kind of plays are these? It’s been nothing but iso-Joe, iso-Jamal, high pick and roll, and awful shots by Josh ever since the team got into a trouble in the fourth quarter. I hope that Drew is not the one encouraging these plays. If it’s a case of the players not executing, that makes more sense, but if these are the actual plays that Drew wants, then something is horribly wrong.

Najah,
Smoove could have pass to a wideopen Bibby on his 2nd 3pt shot attempt.

I support Josh, and that was a bad shot. Especially with Bibby and Joe wide open also.

if you’re wide open you have to make an aggressive play.. though im not sure why we’re falling in love w/ the 3 ball right now..

When you have a 7 footer that no one else on the other team can guard in single coverage on the block, and it causes the opposition to double (when you’re spacing the floor) you can always pull away in a game.

Antawn,
Drew can’t control how the players react as soon as the Bucks get on a roll. It’s not like he holds their hands and tells them what to do, it’s the players fault not the coach’s what’s been happening in the 4th quarter

Games like this explains why people dont think the Hawks can win in the playoffs.
Because when our jumpers are not falling, we cannot rely on our defense to stop the other team.
Meanwhile, Hawks with a chance to close within 2. As bad as we played this quarter, we still have a chance to win. Wow.

Good drive by Horford. He has a hard time handling Bogut in the low post, but Bogut can’t stop him when he drives on him.
Still don’t like that they have abandoned the post altogether.

Fan, no player on the Hawks ‘usually’ makes a 3 pt attempt. but late in the shot clock with no ball movement, both threes weren’t the best option you’ll want going in. but at that point what was a better option with 5 seconds on shot clock or less?
