Atlanta Hawks: No MRI for Al Horford’s bruised hand

Hawks center Al Horford said today he decided against having an MRI for his bruised shooting hand. Horford said after Atlanta’s victory at Milwaukee Monday that he would get more tests for the hand after X-rays were negative but he changed his mind.

“I didn’t think it was necessary,” he said. “I just think it’s a matter of, I’ve had several injuries to it and it takes longer to heal. I was getting concerned because it wasn’t getting any better. It feels somewhat better today.”

Horford said he’s accumulated injuries to the hand in his three-plus seasons with the Hawks. The latest flare-up came after he was hit on the hand in a game against Indiana on Dec. 11. Horford hasn’t missed any games.

The current treatment regiment for the hand is ice and electrical stimulation. The Hawks had a three-day break last week but a return to contact in games caused the hand to swell again.

“I hope it goes away,” he said. “[Rest] is the key. I thought taking those couple days off would make it better but it really didn’t. I just have to stay on it.”

Give it Away – Now!

Javal McGee is a “red hot chili pepper”!
The Wiz are NOT gonna’ give him and Hinrich to the Hawks for Crawford!

Stop dreaming! They’re gonna want Teague and Josh or Al for those two!
Not gonna’ Happen, people! Keep in mind, these teams are not gonna just give away their talent for nothing, not even to rebuild from scratch. Esp a Big Man!

R U Kiddin yourself?

Ramon;
Dividing min. between Joe, Teaguer, & Bibby
would be a more equitable distribution especially
for Teague.

That would be one heck of a defensive team. [overall]

McGee or Blatch:

One or the other is *Trouble*!
I imagine whichever one they end up trading,
will be the culprit !

I would have a long talk with Mark Fox before I swung a deal
for McGee. One year ago, I would have been all over a JMcGee
trade. Alot has happened to diminish his value since that time.

If that MRI showed remarkable damage to a ligament, surgery may be an option, IDK without the test.
If it showed torn muscle, then rest it with aggressive therapies. I’m afraid without a diagnosis though, Al playing might make it worse and cause further damage.

Hey doc, what is your opinion. You’re the expert on orthopedics, what about the hand?

Hello there, Blatch? Do we need another PF? I never knew of McGee until the Summer blog talk and I saw him in the Summer League games. I saw him play the Hawks, very nice player, but very thin in the britches. A tall but very slim body type. Camby is rail thin too and Chandler has added some upper body beef and strength. But, look how long it takes to develop muscle mass.

Could McGee help the Hawks in the paint? Probably so. Can he bother Dwight or that Celtics/Lakers front line? Hell No! G-Daddy – Where’s The Beef? I would rather keep Teague, Marvin and ride with our Jason Collins. He is really impressing me this year and very intelligent young man too. I love his interviews, that Stanford Degree is paying dividends there.

Nice to see people jumping on the trade-for-Camby bandwagon! [After all, I think I was first to really push for Camby, and I've been pushing for it for what? a month now.]

However, given Portland’s needs, they are going to be looking for picks and expirings. Plus, I don’t see them trading Camby or Pryz without bringing in a lower cost backup. [the back up doesn't necessarily need to come from the same trade that sends Camby or Pryz out, but I doubt Portland moves either of the centers w/o finding a back up first.]

Looking at GS’s roster, I wonder why they aren’t better than they are. After all, they have a dynamic back court, one of the best 3-point shooting forwards, and a very solid player in David Lee …

Oh wait, they don’t play defense! Yeah, that will kill you.

On topic: What harm could an MRI do? Perhaps, the more important question: What harm could come about for failing to follow up with an MRI?

I am really beginning to wonder if the Hawks training staff is worth a d*mn!
[the encouragement of the timing of Mo's surgery]
[bringing Joe back so quickly after his surgery]
[not requiring Al to have an MRI]

Maty Ellen,
Camby is a vet and a great def player.
D.Howard no longer our biggest problem.
Yes, he would help, but Big Jase is our
man vs DH.

McGee has “inspector Gadget” arms;
they just keep on goin’.
Seriously, he has something like a 16 ft wingspan
*[really 7'-9" or close]
He blocks shots w/o even trying.
His motivation is ???
Same for work, dedication, conditioning, B-ball IQ, etc. ???
All questionable?
Then there’s his asthma problems. ???
On the other hand, he should be an unstoppable force.
One last thought;
he has put on some wgt.

The reason I’m on such a G.Wallace kick lately is:
“The hated Miami Heat”
GW would be fascinating to watch checking the “Ass Clown”.

From what I’ve read, the Bobcats’ perception of Wallace’s value is much higher than the rest of the league. Maybe they’re trying to squeeze a first round pick out of any potential trade partners for Wallace.

trade marvin. bibby is good with teauge on his back

what they need is a solid center and a cap space for next year..

i heard sac town is trashing cousins beacause of his attitude. sund can send them an offer and give them williams. cousins will be happy playing in a winning team and hawks can work on his attitude like they did on smith..

if they want a cap space and make use the expiring contract of jamal crawford. send crawford williams and collins to sacramento for cousins and tyreke evans
