The Hawks have agreed to a sign-and-trade that would send forward Josh Childress to Phoenix for a second-round pick and a trade exception, people with knowledge of the situation confirmed.
Paul Coro of the Arizona Republic reported Sunday night that the deal was “on the verge” of completion. Childress would sign with Phoenix for six years and at least $30 million, according to the report.
If Childress signs a deal for those terms, Atlanta’s trade exception would be worth half the amount of his first-year salary since he would become a base-year compensation player. The exception works as a sort of credit that would allow the Hawks to make a trade while over the salary cap without meeting the usual salary-matching requirement.
Atlanta drafted Childress with the No. 6 overall pick of the 2004 draft. He played four seasons with the Hawks before opting to sign a free-agent contract with Greek team Olympiakos in 2008. He has until Thursday to opt out of the final season of that three-year, $20 million deal.

Mr. Strickland . . it’s no harm or malice on my part. Just an observation.
LOL . . I’m just saying though. This is a point that you’ve stated over and over and over again. It’s like an old Ms. Pac Man game pattern.
- praise Teague
- elplain how Drew’s OFF/DEF systems will work, even though we’ve never seen it
- insert the random “name call of former head coach”
- followed by the “Bibby diss”.
I actually think it’s funny more than anything. Just picking at you man.
LOL @ MsDee . . . over there “cheerleading”
(( passing her some A-Town dancer pom-poms ))
I’M a Hawks fan before I’m a fan of any player or coach, so I hope you’re right about Teague and Drew.

Spurs officially signed Tiago Splitter on NBA.com. Shaq must look elsewhere.
Richard Jefferson opted out in SA, he is a free agent and can be signed outright. Spurs didn’t want him back for the money, lack of defense, and jump shot was bad this season. I keep Marvin.
Many free agents are lining up to play in Miami with big three for league or vet minimum re: Jerry Stackhouse on NBATV stated he is waiting for a call to play with Miami. Why? Stackhouse said for a chance to win a ring. He didn’t mention Atlanta by the way.
This is why many wanted Hawks to take a big like Whiteside in the draft. If you don’t want to spend money on a big, get one cheap in the draft and develop him. Hawks do neither. Still waiting for a big trade for bench help.

Jesse Jackson is an idiot. He’s talking slavery and Lebron/Gilbert in the same sentence? How many slaves could become free agents? How many made millions upon millions of dollars a year?
Jackson will do anything to keep promoting anti-race relations and draw attention to himself. Well, that is except when he’s talking about cutting off the nads of our current president. That’s when he showed his true colors.

Don’t pretend like you don’t understand the analogy. My God. The man was making a point.
Ray,
It’s ok to agree with Jesse. It don’t make you a racists. I don’t agree with everything the man says but I understand what he was talking about.
LeBron doesn’t owe anybody anything. He honored his contract. He has the right to go wherever he wants.

One more thing Mr. Strickland. Don’t take anything to heart on here. Most of us are simply highly opinionated fans who “think” we know what is best for our team. In the end, we all want to see the same thing . . . the Hawks win a championship.
My job here is to support you guys with facts and stats, along with my “semi-expert” analysis. If you or others disagree . . lol . . it’s al good.
I call you Mr. Strickland, because while I may disagree with you at times, I do respect your opinion and the way you lay out your arguments. You make it crystal clear where you stand on an issue, and I appreciate that.
As for your health, may the Lord give you the strength to fight that demon every day of your life. DO NOT let that demon win.

The Master Plan of Rick Sund:
2011 – Summer – Jamal and Mo Evans walk – we use Jamal’s 10.5m per yr.for Horford – 5yrs. 83m if Arn Tellum takes it for the RFA. If not, bidding war (after probable NBA lockout).
We then use Mo’s 2.5m for Gladyr, Sy, and JJ’s 10.5% raise.
2012 Summer – Bibby’s 6m comes off the books – we pay for Teague as a RFA and JJ’s raise with that 6m, and also another PG behind Teague. May be getting about 6m per year from Shaq retiring also.
2013 Summer – ZaZa’s 4.75m comes off the books – probably re-sign him for 2m per. We use that savings, and Shaq’s from last years to re-sign Josh Smith.
Rick Sund is a planner, I’ll tell you that…

Samuel,
I have absolutely NO issues with Lebron, personally. I’m not a Cavs fan, so I don’t really care. But what in the hell does Jesse have to do with any of this? Nothing. Gilbert said what he said, it was jacked up, and David Stern fined him for it. Lebron hasn’t lost a thing by doing what any free agent is allowed to do. He’ll make plenty of money in Miami and the city will love him.
I’m not understanding where Lebron is a victim. He’s done nothing but win in this situation, if you ask me. He gets paid well, he’ll get to play with two guys who are more talented than anybody he had in Cleveland, and the endorsements won’t stop. And he gets to hang out in South Beach full time.
Again, what does Jesse have to do with this? I get his analogy. It’s just misplaced. Only thing bad happened to Lebron is the owner of his former team said some bad stuff about him. But he can’t do anything to him and his claims that Cleveland will win a ring before the Heat do is just bogus.
I agree LeBron doesn’t owe anybody anything. And he definitely got to do what he wanted to do. What does what Gilbert had to say change about all that? Nothing.
Yeah, Jesse always has a point. And he always uses the same methods to make that point. That’s all I have an issue with. I can understand if you don’t agree with that. We’ll agree to disagree.
Gilbert is an idiot, too. And to be honest, I think Yahoosports’ Adam Wojnaroski calls him out better than anybody else.

Samuel,
I’ll admit it: I didn’t have as much of an issue with Jesse Jackson in the past, I was used to the noise he makes. He really got my attention when he got caught saying what he did about Obama. That was crabbish. And everybody who understands that term knows exactly what I’m saying.

You have picked out his best season from last year when woodson ran more plays for him. Actually Woody increase Al shots attempt about 51% how ever his completion rate was only increased .026 or something like that. My numbers represent Al’s career numbers. Your numbers represent his best year. If you want a better look. His best year at Florida was 13 pts agame. His minutes were almost identical to what he gets now. Thats about Al you going to get from Al average per season. 12-14 points.Offensively the bottom line is Al increased his shot attempt but not his percentage. Thats because Al has to be set up and is not a good ball handler, nor can he shoot over bigger guys and has small lifts for a center. Al will never be an offensive force.
Now to the reason I do have high regards for Als game. His defense. Take a look at this video of Josh playing defense and blocking shots. Notice that Al is just standing there watching, waiting for a free rebound. Which is why I say rebounds arent a defensive stat the exercise that caused the the miss shot and hence a rebound is the defense.
Northcyde reposted where 60% of the people who attempt to shoot over Al “IN THE POST” succeed .That state was amongst the highest in the NBA. Its not just about Howard. Al is not shutting down any one in the post. Period. Stop reducing Als lack of defense to Howard. HES NOT SHUTTING DOWN ANY ONE.
Now, feel free to reduce my analysis to ” you hate horford” and just ignore the facts presented.
Or as Sherlock Holmes Would say, “You assume facts not in evidence!, Watson.”
My stats were correct.
Heres the link, See if you can pick up Al when Josh is playing defense and by the way Rate that cross over move by Josh.

Jesse may say some weird things but he has paid his dues and if not for he and others who sacrificed greatly, we wouldn’t be able to enjoy many of the privileges we enjoy today. You do know that don’t you? The man all but put out a “death warrant” on LeBron’s head.
