Atlanta Hawks: Draft mockery (UPDATE: Hawks trade with Nets, get Crawford)

UPDATE: The Hawks selected Texas forward Damion James with the No. 24 pick and traded him to the Nets for the second of their first-round picks (No. 27 overall) and their second-round pick (No. 31). The Nets selected Jordan Crawford for the Hawks at No. 31.

More updates later. . . .

I scoured the Interwebs to find some mock drafts for your consumption. This is also the place for my blog people to talk amongst yourselves as the night unfolds. I’ll be holed up at Centennial Tower waiting for the Hawks’ decision-makers to pick their guys before emerging to explain themselves, but I will checking in on your comments.

So think positive thoughts and hope your Hawks buck recent trends and find a gem late in the first round. . . .

Well, NJ Nets drafted Jordan Crawford for us … and giving us pick No. 31, probably a big if Alabi, Whiteside or the kid from Tulsa keeps slipping.

We really needed whiteside but at least we didn’t pick a bust Jones is a player and will push Marvin and give us a solid backup off the bench! Now we need to get Tyson Chandler!

Hawks have to go big at 31 though. Maybe they will take a chance on Hassan Whiteside or the other JJ (Jerome Jordan).

Damion Jones is a beast. He plays a lot like joe johnson but more atheletic.

Good trade in my opinion. The Hawks go the guy they wanted from the start and they pick up an early second round pick. They might still be able to get the big that many on here want. Great move by Sund.

I was afraid that trade to the Nets was going to be for Yi.

Good move by Sund to at least get 2 late 1sr rd picks. He can get a small and a big now.

Had season tickets for Crawford’s freshman year at IU. Guy can light it up one minute, but throw up bricks the next. Really streaky and a bit of a hotshot, but I think with some discipline he can be a lot like Jamal.

Do yall think the Nets just really wanted James, or did they not want to have to sign 2 more guys? Seems odd to only trade a few down but give up 2 picks.

I don’t want Jordan Crawford to be like Jamal Crawford.

I want somebody to teach the kid to play defense FIRST THING. Jamal didn’t get taught until he came here, and we see how that works…

In the meantime, if he can do offense the way Jamal does, I ain’t mad at him!

I knew Orton would go…. Alabi, Varnado, Jerome Jordan, and Flip Flips are left over…which will it be, Hawks?

Ray, you don’t have to worry about Crawford playing D, Xavier is as hard nosed of man-to-man college D team as you’ll ever see… Not that phony over play the passing lanes and hand check you D like Duke… He’ll be a good fit now this team is realizing that it must play perimeter D!

Here we go again Whiteside is not a stiff and he is available. The Hawks are so stupid if they choose a injured guy in Alabi over Whiteside or a 4 year guy in Jordan over Whiteside who only played 1 year. So, you know they will make wrong pick
