UPDATE: The Hawks selected Texas forward Damion James with the No. 24 pick and traded him to the Nets for the second of their first-round picks (No. 27 overall) and their second-round pick (No. 31). The Nets selected Jordan Crawford for the Hawks at No. 31.
More updates later. . . .
I scoured the Interwebs to find some mock drafts for your consumption. This is also the place for my blog people to talk amongst yourselves as the night unfolds. I’ll be holed up at Centennial Tower waiting for the Hawks’ decision-makers to pick their guys before emerging to explain themselves, but I will checking in on your comments.
So think positive thoughts and hope your Hawks buck recent trends and find a gem late in the first round. . . .

Don’t count on Hassan whiteside being there when we pick. 7 footers with potential don’t last that long. IF they do there is something wrong with them.

Ray,
I think somebody will fall. The problem is what do the hawks do when they have lots of choices.
Man, sucks for aldrich. He talks about playing with Chris Paul. But Bucher said he will be traded.

The question is . . . will Jon Barry talk ish about us when our pick comes up. You know he will.
Hmmmm . . . Memphis takes Xavier Henry. That’ll help their scoring off the bench, and maybe help them in case they lose Rudy Gay.

Boring draft so far.. no major trades other than Miami and Chicago salary dumping, and none of these players beyond the top 7 look very impressive. Hopefully the Hawks can find a contributor at #24. I don’t think they are going to have the luxury of choosing a good player at a particular position.

If we come away with a 7ft center, be it play ready or to develop I would be highly impressed

STEEL,
Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. The 7-footer who doesn’t drop is a guy we drool over and wish we had him. But if he drops, he’s a scrub we shouldn’t pick. Talk about “can’t win for losing!”

Bad feeling about this guy. Reminds me of Derrick Coleman, demeanor wise and conversationally!
Interesting young man.

LOL . . this draft is horrible. That’s why I really don’t care who we take at #24. I have my preferences, but I’m not getting all hyped over whomever we take/don’t take.

i would prefer henrich for chills in a sign and trade given the numbers are right which chills might have negotiated to equal henrich. throw in bibby and give us mcghee if it aint quite equal and i am beginning to feel hawks fever ad tickets to buy. resign jj and we are gold with chicago at the altar.

I would’ve liked to see us have a shot at Sanders. Oh well. There are others. Still plenty of guards and wings on the board, which makes me a bit nervous.

Four more picks remain before the Hawks. I haven’t seen enough of most of the remaining players to make any qualified judgment. But from what I’ve heard and what little I’ve seen, I would be cool with Anderson or Whiteside, maybe even Damion James.

I wonder who the Spurs are gonna pick. Those guys are savvy as hell. Every time they pick and you go “who?”, they turn that pick into a rotational player. They haven’t had somebody drop in their lap since Tim Duncan, yet they get the right guy nearly every year.
