Good mini write-up. Just illustrates what I’ve been talking about. Long jumpers are part of the game. Ball movemet does get you better looks no doubt. But like coach says, it really does come down to guys making shots.

6 – 26 and 7 – 22 on long jumpers isn’t going to cut it. The league average from that range is 40%, so we have to shoot that or higher from that range, to beat the Magic. The onus from that range will be on JJ, Crawford, and Marvin to make those shots. Make 40% of those shots, and at least 35% of the threes, and we should be Ok today.

Nice crowd here. Not full, but a little better than I expected. I saw a little too many half full parking lots, so I guess the crowd will come a little late again.

Now this is why you need something else besides isos because we could simply try and run some sets to get Crawford some good looks instead of having him try and take the entire magic team off teh dribble.

Right now we should be able to call a couple of set plays that would have him run off screens and catch the ball off a curl for a good look but it seems we have no idea what that is .

If we really wanted to run a true isolation spread the court offense we shouldve been going after guys like Frye and other guys who can simply make shots to fill your bench with

WE all know that the Hawks read crowds better than any team in the NBA. They feed off the energy in the arena.

I don’t blame fans for booing, but you know what kind of team’s on the court. Booing them with this much basketball left is a bit disappointing. I know they were lack-a-daiscial, and flat. But, booing them isn’t gonna get them back into the game. It’s only gonna kill their confidence more. They’re the one team that plays to the energy level of the arena.

I really wish I could see footage of what Duck Williams did in that workout to make the Hawks front office think he would be a great player. He cant create his own shot, has trouble finishing at the rim in traffic, has trouble holding onto the ball, not a good ball handler, overrated defender, rebounds sometimes, and is not aggressive. Seriously what did he do in that workout.

Venom, you’re right. They are underachievers. I know what Ramon is talking about, a few people did picK teams like Washington, Miami and Toronto to finish ahead of the Hawks in the pre-season…but still several others had them ranked highly too.

All of that is out the window anyway, because when the Hawks jumped out to that good early season start, people were calling the Hawks “Elite” and saying they were a REAL CONTENDER in the east at that point. ESPN even had them ranked #1 in the power rankings at one time.

So…yeah..the media even has gave the Hawks respect…maybe even a little too much. The Hawks just didnt live up to it. So yes…

Clyde do you remember 8 months ago AJC running like 8 stories about the recruitment of Joe Smith and then the signing of Joe Smith? He’s played just about 8 minutes in the playoffs. I guess he gets a minute for each story lol.

JJM, no owner would trade Lopez because he’s the best young center at his age in the league.

I wish there was a way to get Chris Paul actually. I would trade Al Horford for Chris Paul if I could (I know many of you are saying Josh, but Hornets wouldn’t take Josh in that deal for Paul). I’d trade Horford/Williams for Paul/Posey in a second. I know they say don’t trade big for small. But you do trade for leaders/superstars if you have the chance. And Chris Paul may be the easiest superstar to get this year.

It’s amazing to watch how quickly the tempo of the game changes once the key player leaves the floor. Hawks were getting torched at the start of the fourth, then Al Horford comes in and the tables turn 180 degrees. Al Horford leaves the game and the Magic go on another monster run…

I don’t think so. In fact, I remember Woody speaking very highly of Chris Paul in a t.v. interview after his workout. Also, CP3 as a player is on a whole other planet than anyone this franchise has ever had. If Al Horford could force Woody to play him as a rookie, CP3 certainly would have too. Let’s be very clear, CP3 is not Acie Law or Jeff Teague for that matter.

Actually, the Hawks had ZaZa and when he came back from injury at the beginning of the season, Woody was going to put ZaZa back in the starting lineup and Horford on the bench. That notion didn’t last long because Horford’s play spoke for itself. And you’ve got to be kidding me with Lue, Ivey, and AJ? Again, CP3 would have played because his talent is undeniable. As far as post workout comments, Woody wasn’t too thrilled with Marvin’s, I can tell you that.

Jeje, no superstar would come to this team without Smoove or Joe being here. You never saw the Lakers or the Spurs trade the players that were performing for other players. They traded the ones who weren’t performing to get players (i.e. Bibby, Marvin, Zaza, Evans, and others). Joe, Smoove, Al, Teague, and Crawford will be a lot different once a new coach comes in, and they also have more talent around them.

My fustration with coach Woodson is that all year long he has failed to develop his bench guys confidence and relied totally on the starters plus J Crawford. This fatal flaw along with not having an offensive identity has been obvious all year yet management made zero attempts to improve. Its not that they are losing to an inferior team , but the fact that when faced with real well coached team, the Hawks look like JV team against professionals.I think the Bucks would have put up more of a fight simply because of their coaching and BJ at the point. Time for major changes to this team especially in the coaching dept.

Are you telling me that if the Magic offered Howard straight up for Joe (yeah, right!) you would keep Joe?

And Lewis MAY be a lesser player, but his playoff production for THIS series has certainly outstripped that of JJ.

And Sautee, you can’t really say his playoff production is higher, because he’s expected to do less. The point was if you put Lewis (who makes 21 mil a year) on the Hawks and JJ on the Magic, Orlando wins a title last year, and the Hawks goes to the first round as a 7 seed. With a coach like Van Gundy and a supporting cast of 3 other all stars, its easy for him to have better stats right now than JJ.

Josh made a big step this past summer when he listened to coaches finally about the 3’s. Now he has to work on the rest of the grey matter… Get a good sports psychologist, listen and learn! Horford did not receive any votes on the defensive player of the year polls, nor did he get any votes on the All NBA player, Josh was the #2 defensive player and JJ made the all NBA team. ”

This same guy always seem to suggest trading Horford, but won’t name a single target to go get.

He always seems to find fault in one man alone.

Never has anything but “he’s the 18th ranked center in shotblocking” to justify his argument.

What’s funny is, Horford averaged as many blocks through the playoffs as J.Smith. I believe they were both averaging 2 per game? Someone can check me on that, but if that’s the only stat you’re gonna throw out there to justify your argument, and even that falls flat, you don’t have much to go on…

QUITTERS -the worst thing you can say about an athlete or a team and the Hawksflat out quit in games 1 and 3.

Marvin Williams has been exposed for a truly poor use of a high pick. Marvin could not play among the first 8 or 9 for the better teams in the East, much less the West where there is more talent.

Joe Johnson turns down big $$$ from the Hawks and then stinks up the playoffs and now has the nerve to dismiss the fans as unimportant. No wonder he mostly keeps his mouth shut – better to sit silently and let people think you a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt!

Say goodbye to Joe and Woody, and hopefully Marvin but who in their right mind would take Marvin and his contract to be a role player off the bench?

Josh Smith was 2nd to Dwight Howard for defensive player of the year in a vote of the media.

Voting by the coaches for the All-Defensive team put him on the 2nd team with the 8th or 9th most votes.

Looks like the coaches, those with the knowledge of the game, do not think as highly of J Smoooove as the media.

Clyde I can tell you don’t know what you are talking about. If we hadn’t have kept those guys that you mentioned, we wouldn’t have CONTINUITY. I have been in the league 30+ years and although I have never won a CHAMPIONSHIP, I know what it takes to be an ELITE team which is based on the REGULAR SEASON, not the PLAYOFFS.
