Joe Johnson to play vs. Charlotte
Hawks guard Joe Johnson will play Friday night against Charlotte after missing the last two games with tendinitis in his Achilles tendon.
Johnson practiced with the team Friday morning at the team’s shootaround at Philips Arena. Johnson said his Achilles had been bothering for the last month and a half or two months.
“I just felt it was time for me to get a little rest off of it and try and let it heal up a little bit,” he said.
Johnson said he won’t limit his minutes on the floor against the Bobcats. In his absence, the Hawks beat New Jersey but lost at Toronto Wednesday night on a last-second basket.
“It’s going to be good to get back out there with the fellas and start us a new streak,” he said.

The starters were mostly atrocious in the first half with only Marvin truly responding worth anything. Josh was making one “almost good” pass after another, and I think part of that was the ‘Cats realizing he can pass, and staying in the passing lanes.
Joe looked incredibly aggressive on both sides of the court, but after not getting a couple of foul calls and then getting nailed for a traveling call that was utter BS, he slowed down.
The ISO was in full effect, and I could see where one player didn’t want it a couple of times, and had to yell at the others to get them moving.
They were also getting their clocks cleaned on the glass.
Enter the bench. Man, what an injection of energy, defense, cohesion. I was proud to see it.

I’m proud of the 2nd unit tonight. They come in with the Hawks down 6 or 8, and they actually played well enough early in that 2nd qtr to tie the game.
That’s how they have to play as a unit, especially defensively.

Joe Johnson is consistent. He consistently DISSAPEARS at the end of the season into the playoffs. So far tonight our “spuerstar” is 0-10 from the floor. Way to go Joe Blow

Easily JJ’s wost shooting game as a Hawk. And unlike Scottie Reynolds of Villanova, he can’t get a foul call . . . . not one.
And to compound that, Crawford is 2 for his last 9 from the field.
Hawks are going to have to play defense, and get some easy buckets, to pull this one out . . . if they can at all. And they still may need JJ or Crawford to get red hot.
