Hawks guard Joe Johnson will play Friday night against Charlotte after missing the last two games with tendinitis in his Achilles tendon.
Johnson practiced with the team Friday morning at the team’s shootaround at Philips Arena. Johnson said his Achilles had been bothering for the last month and a half or two months.
“I just felt it was time for me to get a little rest off of it and try and let it heal up a little bit,” he said.
Johnson said he won’t limit his minutes on the floor against the Bobcats. In his absence, the Hawks beat New Jersey but lost at Toronto Wednesday night on a last-second basket.
“It’s going to be good to get back out there with the fellas and start us a new streak,” he said.
More to come later.

If you are turning the ball over and not getting a chance to shoot, you have scoring droughts.
Thank God for Jamal.

If it wasn’t for Josh and his passing ability, where would be this quarter?
And although Boris is overpaid, I would love to have him on our bench. he can give backup minutes at the SF, PF, and at the Center position.
Najeh,
I’d be open to giving Marvin a chance to come off the bench, and see if that improves his aggressiveness and his play.

Without Jamal this team would probably have 33 wins.

Again where is the intensity in these matchups with potential playoff teams .Its as though we are too cool to get out there and get after it. We are no longer underdogs and someone inside the organization needs to let them know this . We are the hunted and teams like Charlotte and the Bucks are gonna try take everything they can get . The accolades came one year too early imo.

Their starting backcourt is 8-10. Probably Horford’s fault.

Nique said the cats were lucky to get off a shot cause the Hawks were playing such good D. Hell Thomas had a wide open shot at the top of the key, no Hawks within 10 feet. Sorry Nique but that is bad D.

I like the minutes we are getting from our bench unit. And I like the way they are playing defense.
They are not switching, are they? it looks to me like our bench is playing man to man.

Looks like Gerald Wallace and Jackson are playing the entire 1st half while Hawks starters rest. Though it’s Hawks bench that brought us back. Can starters play aggressive defence and rebound and not turn the ball over like the bench has done?

All this game is doing is confirming my thoughts…..The Hawks and Bobcats would be more competitive than Hawks/Cavs or Hawks/Magic in a 7 game series…from what I’ve seen,
Nice to the the 2nd unit getting more burn though.

The second unit deserves a lot of credit. They came in with energy and played great defense. They got the Hawks back in the game. Hopefully the first unit picks it up in the second half.

To be honest…as a collective, when the second unit is rolling, they are more fun to watch (and seem to flow better on offense – sharing the ball – extra passes – etc.) than the first unit…aside from Josh Smith dunks..
