Wantabee they cant beat Cleveland or Orlando. The rumors of Shaq’s demise are greatly exaggerated. there only hope is against Boston. By the way its not about shaq only they cant stop Lebron.

Great win by the Hawks tonight. But as the ESPN crew said the Hawks are reaching the point in their schedule where they must separate themselves from the middle of the pack eastern conference teams. They must win these kinds of games, and play tough against Denver on the road and against the Lebrons at home. GO HAWKS!

Good win. We are supposed to beat the bad teams like this. Nice game by Teague. He sets up guys nicely and gets them easy shots. Bibby is clearly hurt. Woodson should probably limit his minutes as much as he can and let Teague get more experience…. Collins is worse than I thought he would be. At this point I would activate Hunter and let Collins sit in his suit.

Put ‘Flubber’ in the suit and let’s see what Othello has to offer. If we continue to have games like these, we can actually gauge his NBA talent. Haven’t seen much of him, but dude constantly seems to find a roster spot

Nice win, we did what we were supposed to…and then some. Nice teamwork out there.
Hmmm, the commentators said that Woody should have an extension beyond this year already. The same commentators also said Teague should be playing 20 minutes per game, and would compete for Rookie of the Year if he was.
I’ll bet some people took one of those statements as gospel, and completely ignored the other, despite BOTH comments coming from the SAME source. Yep….
Couple things on that. One, why act like Sund has been here the whole time? He is in his second year as the Hawks GM. I think maybe one year is not enough to evaluate a coach. But hey, maybe things really ARE that simple. Um, nah….
I believe it was Woody that signed that 2- year contract a little over a year ago. I don’t know, maybe he was going to “walk on principle because it was insulting”, but his wife wanted the family fed and housed, so she came and signed it for him. Hey, I wasn’t there, so that guess is as good as any, right? Well, if it was Woody that signed the contract, then it’s Woody you can get mad at for being on the second year of a two year contract, with no new contract yet. I wonder why you would expect to get a whole new contract BEFORE you finished up the one you signed? I could see if we got to the Eastern Conference Finals or something better. Eh, what do I know.
Yeah, Woody should totally walk away from the team that has kept him employed as a head coach all this time. Definitely. He can do better than this. He should walk away from something he helped build. After all, anybody would fire their current coach to hire him. Because he showed how manly he was by walking away from a job. In this economy.
Cue the twilight zone music……

I fully expect Woody to get an extension before the All Star Game. We will be in 3rd or 4th place, two guys in the All Star game and the whole league talking about the Hawks. Sund doesn’t want to look any more stupid than he already is. He’ll get it done.

Agree, nice to see Teague get 8 dimes.
Woody trusting his guys, his guys earning the trust. When both are happening, they are completely reciprocal. I really like to see this.
Last year you couldn’t have convinced me that RandMo would make himself look like somebody worthy of a roster spot, and Collins would look like somebody that shouldn’t . Yet there it is….

Samuel ,
I can see that happening. As for Sund, I don’t get what is making him look stupid. Signing Woody to a 2 year contract with the blessing of the ASG, and then actually observing him and maybe holding him accountable for a season and a half before extending him further? Not dumping money on a guy after having only observed him for a single year? I know, it must have been the re-signing of Bibby and Pachulia, or the pickup of Joe Smith. Maybe it was that dumb trade for Jamal Crawford.
Yeah. Dude’s stupid. Damn, and I thought he was “Ya Boy”. LOL……
I know, I know. When the chips are down, Woody’s ya boy over anybody in the organization, players, GM, owners, you name it.

Woody is not the smartest brick in the he pile but is no where closest to the dumbest. Like Utah give him a one year contract now. Ends the daily pressure but suggests improvement. For past and present efforts – give him another 200,000 bonus. What is not to like?

Samuel ,
Well, that’s what they do. Talk. ROY is not even a joke. I only hear two names, and one has about as much chance against the other as Horford did against Durant. That’s just the way it is. Nothing idle about giving Teague more playing time, though. Hell, we actually recently read that in an article, in a quote by Woody. He says he’ll raise the young fella’s minutes as the season goes on. Sounds reasonable to me, provided Teague keeps earning his keep.
But if he slacks off, Woody will pop that cork. And that’s every bit as reasonable, and what I’d expect. I really don’t have any solid complaints about Woody and Teague. He’s giving the kid some good chances. Teague stays healthy and produces, he’ll be fine. And I have confidence that he will do both.

KevinA ,
I agree. I won’t count Woody on the dumb side of the crowd. Besides, he has shown growth as a head coach. Is he growing at the same rate that his players are? I don’t know. I don’t even know if that’s possible, as players are on a different timeline than coaches. You can stink and stay in the league for a while, as a player. As a coach? Not as a HEAD coach, you can’t. Now if you have some skills as an assistant, you can stick around. But you can’t suck as a head coach and stick around.
Then again, I lie. The Clippers are dumb as hell. Dunleavy is still coach there. And he truly sucks. I have no explanation. Must have caught Sterling with some farm animals or something….and has pictures…

How’s about Bibby/Pachulia/Marvin/1st rounder for Bosh/Jack? Bring the Ga. Tech boys to win an NBA title together!
Teague/JJ/JS/CB4/Al
Bench: Jack/Crawford/Evans/Smith
One more athletic beast inside and the East is toast. Who could guard that lineup? Plus Bosh is coming back next year at 17MM. Being a Techie you might even be able to extend him.

TERRELL BARRON-Woody must have heard me and decided to allow the team to play straight up DEF, and look at the positive results, Heh, Heh.
Continuing to play Bibby instead of Teague, even though he’s played poorly since the injury and is still feeling its effects, is just good coaching according to some Woody lovers.
TRUTH SERUM-If the way we played tonight is WOODY BALL, why in the hell have we played it only 3 times in the last 15gms? Tonight, Woodson gave 9 players 10 or more mins before the end of the 3rd qtr. He’s only played that many players that many mins 2 other times over the last 15gms, and we’ve won all 3(Hornets 121pts, Toronto 146pts and Chicago 118pts). If you take away the pts scored in those 3gms, our PPG average over the remaining 12gms is about 90PPG. How can anyone other than an idiot with an agenda, look at these facts and say tonights gm was an example of WOODY BALL? I HOPE YOU’RE NOT AS STUPID AS YOU SO OFTEN SOUND. I ALSO HOPE THIS REALITY DOESN’T CAUSE YOU TO SUDDENLY SPLIT AND START POSTING WILDLY AS A BUNCH OF IDIOTS WITH AN AGENDA, WHICH USUALLY HAPPENS WHEN I MAKE YOU LOOK LIKE AN EVEN BIGGER ASS.

The best way for the Hawks to be successful is for them to spread the wealth. No one player taking more than 15-20 shots. That means about 1/3 of the games JJ should score less than 20. That will lead to ultimate team success, but it will not earn JJ a larger contract than the 60mill that the Hawks offered him prior to the season. I wonder as the season goes on, will Joe sacrifice team success for his on personal stats as he realizes that his impact of the box score won’t warrant him getting a max contract.
Hopefully winning is most important. He seems to be doing the “iso Joe” junk far less as of late so maybe thats a good sign.

BIG RAY-HC’s are judged based on team expectations as much as ability. That’s why we see some teams fire HC’s with winning records and others hold on to HC’s with losing records. The Clippers owner simply doesn’t have high expectations for the team, so what does it matter who coaches it. During the 1st few yrs of Woodson’s tenue, the Hawks had low expectations as well, but unlike the Clippers, they were at least anticipating a better future.

Just checkin’ in. My last post was eaten by the ‘blog monster’”Big Ray”.
I wanted to see if This one would take.
It’s kinda funny, I figure I was censored because of a long dissertation
in which I was actually defending a point TS was making. So therefore the ‘blog monster’ figured I must be an imposter.
bigdave – I’m with you on J.Noah. I loved what Al had to say about JN in regard to the LBJ incident. I also love JN’s energy and intensity.
I won’t mention his hgt., length, or def. prowess lest I get an argument started.
TS – I am in total agreemant with you,in that, mr.w. should just walk. You are correct and he should have his agent looking for teams right now. I would not blame him one bit if he took the 1st job that comes open. Even if it’s during the season and someone gets fired…he should let them know he is available now. It would force Mr. Sund’s hand.
I applaud you TS. Who knew we were really on the same page all this time.
