Greetings, all
I’m at the homestead for this one and will be watching on the television as you all will.
Some thoughts and on we go.
Why the Hawks win tonight
1) Marvin Williams has gotten himself in a groove and has an exploitable matchup against Peja Stojakovic.
2) The Hawks asserted themselves as the better team a week ago. Their fourth-quarter run from the last game may linger somewhere in the Hornets’ collective memory.
3) Joe Johnson and Josh Smith played below their capabilities Friday. Bibby’s numbers weren’t outstanding, either. It’s unlikely it happens two nights in a row.
Why they won’t
1) They’re just due. It’s the second game of a back-to-back with a flight in-between. The Hawks haven’t had back-to-backs in the streak except for the start. Further, the Hornets have been home all week and come into the game on a day of rest.
2) Houston took a lot out of the Hawks Friday night. The Rockets are a relentless bunch, as the final three minutes of the game revealed.
3) The Hornets have found something since losing to Portland and the Hawks to open the Jeff Bower era. They’ve beaten the Clippers and Suns since then. They took down 25 offensive rebounds against Phoenix.
Whatcha think?

Wow,
Shout out to all my HATERS. Really did not know you guys liked me so much. NIRECLOWN, KEN STRCKLAND, TERRELL BARRON, MICHELLEFROMATL and whoever else who chose to bash my name while I was not on the blog. As it has been reported by a couple of your own, Sam from the Swats is not me. I won’t even go into that anymore.
First of all, since all of you STANS want to know where I am, if you do your research, I never post during the home games because, I AM AT THE GAME. Some of you should consider going to the game. Contrary to popular belief, I will be the first person to give Marvin credit when he plays well. CONGRATULATIONS MARVIN. I personally hope that he makes me eat my words, but I doubt it. He had one great game. He typically does this once or twice a year, and then turns back into the MARVIN you all know and love. Some of you made statements like he’s back….. HE WAS NEVER HERE. I personally don’t expect Marvin to give us 25 to 30 a night. I expect him to be able to knock down open jumpshots, since no one guards him, rebound, which he does do well, and defend the other teams best player, which he has not been able to do this year. He has been good at one of those three things so far this year, and is having his worst year ever. A shooting slump should not keep you from hustling, and having some energy while you are on the court. I do realize that one of you is related to Marvin, might be his dad, so I understand your frustration with me.
Please HATERS, lets not forget some of the arguments that we have had about Marvin. I told you Marvin was not a better basketball player than Josh, when Josh was going thru his contract situations you said he was. I think I was correct on that. You told me that Marvin was better than Ariza, Granger (Ken)…., I said he was not. I was correct. I said that we should not pay Marvin 7.5 to 8 million per year, the numbers prove me correct. I said Marvin was not our best man to man defender, and obviously we all know that Joe Johnson is. I told you that our best lineup will be with Joe and Jamal on the floor together, you told me that we would be terrible on defense with that lineup, I was correct. You told me that Jamal Crawford could not run the point, I said he could. I actually expect the second highest draft pick on our roster to be able to carry his team, I guess you don’t. I AM NOT KEN STRICKLAND. If Marvin consistently plays well, I will stop talking about him, and based on history, I don’t think that I will ever have to stop. ONE GAME DOES NOT A SEASON MAKE. PLEASE PROVE ME WRONG MARVIN.
CP,
Grew up right in front of Lakeshore so yes I know about those Lancers.

I think the Hawks will be a little sluggish from the flight and back to back games. But being that said, they will find a way to win this game. Especially in the fourth quarter- where I think, without Chris Paul they’ll have trouble.

Rod with the long post and he’s first! I take it you read last nights blog(lol)! The SWATS held you down!
I happened to be out of work because someone ran in the back of me while on the job so I’ve been posting my butt off! Nothing else to do. I’m ok as far as broken limps are concern. Back to work Wednesday.
Starting to wonder how big is BigRay? His line of work means he can’t be too big(lol)! Shout out to Hawksfan in the NOLA! Don’t get shank going to that game tonight. I heard it was rough on our fellow Falcon fans down there this year. They don’t welcome us like in past years!

Everyone’s talking about the flight between games, but remember it’s a short flight to New Orleans on a charter. It’s not like they had to fly to Seattle. Hawks should be fine.

Ken – I’m in New Orleans and finally have the opportunity to see The Hawks live (I rarely see them at all, satellite radio and gamecast are what I use to stay up on the games.)
I am on my way to the arena and hyped – hoping not to be disappointed with the 12 round slug-fest with Houston last night and all.

After tonights gm the Hawks will have a nice 5 day break to prepare for their big showdown with Orlando. If Marvin is really back, we’ll have a lot of weapons for them to contend with.

the hawks should win tonight. our bench is deeper than n.o.’s bench and woody ain’t afraid to go to his bench. i didn’t know that the hawks had 5 days off to prepare for orlando.
what is orlano’s schedule like for the next 5 days? i will look it up.
CINCYATLFAN,
woody is part of the reason that the Hawks are winnin’. please define “woody sucks.” aside for him lookin’ at the dumb clip board when they introduce him why does he suck?
1.he always said that he needed vets. we got them. we win.
2.he said that he needed a bench. we got it. we win.
3.he said we needed a 4th seed last year and he said that we needed to make it to the 2nd rd. we did.
4.he said acie law, sheldon, claxton could not play. he was right. we got rid of them.
5.he is pushin’ his team to stay at the top of the east. they will.
why does he suck? jus’ say that you wish he had his hair back instead.

This is what happens when you walk into a game taking a team too lightly. The Hornets began the game shooting 2 for 11. I knew 5 days ago this was a scary game. I wrote on Horford’s twitter he needs to stay focused. The whole team probably went to Bourbon Street and got drunk before this game.
The offense has been putrid, defense dreadful.
WTF is Woodson doing? Does he really want to play his starters 45+ on a 2nd night of a b2b? PUT THE BENCH IN MORE THAN 2 MINUTES. LET THEM DO SOME MAGIC. ZAZA IS OUR BEST BIG OFF THE BENCH. LET HIM GET SOME CONFIDENCE BEFORE U TAKE HIM OUT AFTER 30 SECONDS.

Guess it’s not bad considering how bad the Hawks played that half. But it’s just so frustrating watching us come out as flat as we were. Don’t know how much of that has to do with us playing a back to back or if they just came out sleeping on the Hornets.
Down 7 at halftime means the starters will continue to play heavy minutes throughout the 2nd half.
Pound the ball inside. Attack the basket. We settled for too many jumpers early in that half.

Man I dont know about saying that Teague isnt ready………what did we hear all preseason long about Teague…just like we heard about AC, Teague was a “NBA” ready point guard. Now that the season has started, and he has gotten the royal rookie treatment from Woodson, he looks lost, and trying to make plays that are not there, just like AC was doing. Those guys (Teague and AC) are(were) playing like they may never see the court again which leads to bad decisions……so, that one I put on the coach.

If Bibby was in, we’d probably be down much more. We need Craw in to guard Collison and take advantage of him.
We need to come out in the 2nd half with energy and need something from ZaZa or Joe Smith. I do not want to spend the next 5 days going into a rough Orlando game thinking about how we lost to this miserable lineup
