Greetings, all
I’m at the homestead for this one and will be watching on the television as you all will.
Some thoughts and on we go.
Why the Hawks win tonight
1) Marvin Williams has gotten himself in a groove and has an exploitable matchup against Peja Stojakovic.
2) The Hawks asserted themselves as the better team a week ago. Their fourth-quarter run from the last game may linger somewhere in the Hornets’ collective memory.
3) Joe Johnson and Josh Smith played below their capabilities Friday. Bibby’s numbers weren’t outstanding, either. It’s unlikely it happens two nights in a row.
Why they won’t
1) They’re just due. It’s the second game of a back-to-back with a flight in-between. The Hawks haven’t had back-to-backs in the streak except for the start. Further, the Hornets have been home all week and come into the game on a day of rest.
2) Houston took a lot out of the Hawks Friday night. The Rockets are a relentless bunch, as the final three minutes of the game revealed.
3) The Hornets have found something since losing to Portland and the Hawks to open the Jeff Bower era. They’ve beaten the Clippers and Suns since then. They took down 25 offensive rebounds against Phoenix.
Whatcha think?

This is why we need Bibby. You don’t want ball-stoppers Jamal and JJ “setting up the offense.”

Absolutely horrific effort. Joe wasting the entire shotclock.
I hope this entire team is fined $15,000 for this effort.

Probably over. Hawks can’t shoot, can’t draw a foul and the Hornets doin both. We weren’t about to win out or anything.

Here comes the losing streak. We play f’ing Orlando on Thanksgiving.
We get to watch Vince Carter look like Michael Jordan against us and Dwight score 25 on 4 FGA. And Rashard and Ryan Anderson hitting every shot.
Time to watch Joe Cox win the game so Richt doesn’t get fired.
Awful night

Correction – you don’t want Jamal and JJ charged with setting up Woody’s “offense.” You know, the offense that consists of a series of one-on-one plays and bailout passes. Bibby sets screens, calls pick and rolls, and keeps defenders off-balance. Jamal and JJ? There’s a reason they’re natural SGs and not PGs.

Well, they weren’t gonna go 80-2. Disappointing losing to a team minus their premier point guard at their place – especially when we were the “hottest team in the NBA”. But, guess it happens. The back to back killed us.
NOBODY played well. Sure Crawford and Marvin had “moments”, but that’s about it. Crawford shot 7-20, not a high percentage. JJ just looked sluggish. The guy was a step slow all night. Horford + Smith have had a rough couple of games.
Hope Bibby’s alright. We’ll need him against the Magic.

What you’re not getting about Josh’s jumpers is they were set up by bad plays from the gaurds today.
Most of Josh’s jumpers tonite came when he was thrown the ball with less then 3 seconds left on the shot clock. You can’t blame the guy from putting up an attempt at that point…

Hawks lose a game on the road and so called ‘fans’ are already jumping off the bandwagon? They are still 11-3 people!
Think biggest problem apart from not making shots was Joe pounding the ball too much.

Woody played JJ 45 minutes last night, knowing the second game of a back to back was gonna be on the road, against a NO team who just beat Phoenix. Is anyone surprised JJ has played the way he has?
And why cant the Hawks realize that we are 4-21 from 3? Stop shooting 3’s and drive to the basket. Its not exactly rocket science! And Marvin is 1-5 from 3 (thats unacceptable), and Crawford is 2-9 from 3 (thats even worse).
I’m glad the Orlando game is in ATL, because if it was in Orlando, I would be very concerned. That being said, we are 11-3. All we have to do is beat Orlando, and we’re still the best team in the league.
That beign

these refs are funny…
Crawford is no PG…
we were lazy and played with a lack of discipline on defense; went under screens instead of over the top guarding shooters (3 ball killed us) …
offensively there was no flow (w/ or w/out Joe in the game)…

I wonder why Teague only played 3 minutes, considering Bibby only played 5 minutes? This is one reason why we have been saying Teague needs to get minutes every game, because you just dont know if/when Bibby will get hurt.
I’m okay with Jamal playing PG sometimes, but not for the whole game. Hopefully Woody will find time for Teague (although Teague has made some mistakes when he’s gotten PT).

Common guys. I understand that it’s frustrating losing a game that many here probably thought was a “gimme”. But, don’t lose sight in the bigger picture. We still hold an 11-3 record and that’s tops in the EAST. I know it’s been a while since we’ve lost a game, but we weren’t gonna go 80-2.
Chalk it up to a bad performance. We just didn’t have enough gas in the tank tonite. We shot 4-21 from beyond the arc tonite. Seemed like we were a step slow all night, and that happens from time to time.
Wouldn’t make so much out of this loss. Let’s not forget that these same Hornets beat the Phoneix Suns a couple days back. They’re capable of putting together good games, and on this particular night, they put together a better game than the Hawks did…
11-3. Sucks to lose, but enough with the bashing.
Don’t let a loss get you to catch a case of amnesia.

Nique and Rathbun addressed the rookie thing, except about how the hornets were doing the right thing by putting them in for minutes and commiting to using them, even if they don’t perform right away… which is something that needs to be done with teague.
and yeah, this is a loss, but let’s learn and move on. we’re at home next game, let’s play big against orlando!

I agree with announcer about the emotion just wasn’t there. I only listened to the game, but I got the feeling that they just didn’t have it. These are the games that you really need Bibby to hit some big jumpers. I would have liked to see some Morris or Othello, but Woodson did exactly what he always does which is let the starters work their way through the game. No one was sharp tonight, though I think the guys should take a page from Horford and consistently take good shots. This is another good learning experience, because the Hornets are the kind of team that is going to work hard and just play. One observation from the stats is Smoove lead the team in assists with 7. Teague had as many assists as Crawford. Crawford really doesn’t play the PG position when he’s in, I think the JJ, Crawford lineup is really a two SG lineup. Bibby, take care of the ankle!
GO HAWKS!!!
