Hawks-Hornets

Greetings, all

I’m at the homestead for this one and will be watching on the television as you all will.

Some thoughts and on we go.

Why the Hawks win tonight

1) Marvin Williams has gotten himself in a groove and has an exploitable matchup against Peja Stojakovic.

2) The Hawks asserted themselves as the better team a week ago. Their fourth-quarter run from the last game may linger somewhere in the Hornets’ collective memory.

3) Joe Johnson and Josh Smith played below their capabilities Friday. Bibby’s numbers weren’t outstanding, either. It’s unlikely it happens two nights in a row.

Why they won’t

1) They’re just due. It’s the second game of a back-to-back with a flight in-between. The Hawks haven’t had back-to-backs in the streak except for the start. Further, the Hornets have been home all week and come into the game on a day of rest.

2) Houston took a lot out of the Hawks Friday night. The Rockets are a relentless bunch, as the final three minutes of the game revealed.

3) The Hornets have found something since losing to Portland and the Hawks to open the Jeff Bower era. They’ve beaten the Clippers and Suns since then. They took down 25 offensive rebounds against Phoenix.

Whatcha think?

Joe looks tired. Woodson has to read his players.

yeah speaking of Teague……I am not liking his body language when I see him sitting on the bench…….seems like he is getting a lil frustated when he is not in the game.

Of course Joe is struggling he played like 44 mins last nights. Woodson obviously didn’t look at the schedule

And thiis is why Marvin needs to stop playing like a scrub. When Joe isn’t on Marvin needs to step up.

You’d like to see Crawford hit the hole rather than spot up in the corner and continue to take 3’s. The Hawks are settling for too many jumpers as of now.

Egg Alert – the Hawks don’t seem to have any energy here and seem to be sleeping. Can’t dig ourselves in too big a hole.

This is what happens when you walk into a game taking a team too lightly. The Hornets began the game shooting 2 for 11. The Hawks could’ve really jumped out on them early and made it clear that they weren’t here to screw around. That would’ve helped give guys like JJ who played heavy minutes last night time to rest.

This whole game has pissed me off.

I knew 5 days ago this was a scary game. I wrote on Horford’s twitter he needs to stay focused. The whole team probably went to Bourbon Street and got drunk before this game.

The offense has been putrid, defense dreadful.

WTF is Woodson doing? Does he really want to play his starters 45+ on a 2nd night of a b2b? PUT THE BENCH IN MORE THAN 2 MINUTES. LET THEM DO SOME MAGIC. ZAZA IS OUR BEST BIG OFF THE BENCH. LET HIM GET SOME CONFIDENCE BEFORE U TAKE HIM OUT AFTER 30 SECONDS.

Even though that shot went in, Hornets already seem anxious. Trust, they will not hold that lead.

Wabe

Damn.

Guess it’s not bad considering how bad the Hawks played that half. But it’s just so frustrating watching us come out as flat as we were. Don’t know how much of that has to do with us playing a back to back or if they just came out sleeping on the Hornets.

Down 7 at halftime means the starters will continue to play heavy minutes throughout the 2nd half.

Pound the ball inside. Attack the basket. We settled for too many jumpers early in that half.

Man I dont know about saying that Teague isnt ready………what did we hear all preseason long about Teague…just like we heard about AC, Teague was a “NBA” ready point guard. Now that the season has started, and he has gotten the royal rookie treatment from Woodson, he looks lost, and trying to make plays that are not there, just like AC was doing. Those guys (Teague and AC) are(were) playing like they may never see the court again which leads to bad decisions……so, that one I put on the coach.

I’m glad Teague got those 2 fouls. On one play it looked Al could’ve had his 3rd, but Teague got it.

If Bibby was in, we’d probably be down much more. We need Craw in to guard Collison and take advantage of him.

We need to come out in the 2nd half with energy and need something from ZaZa or Joe Smith. I do not want to spend the next 5 days going into a rough Orlando game thinking about how we lost to this miserable lineup

Josh

Alright, let’s go… hawks have been doin it in the second half, so we got this!

and yeah, it’s really frustarting to see how the rookie point guards have turned out under woodson… i’m just hoping the guys around them can do something about it and give him some confidence.. he just needs consistent playing time, whcih is hard under woodson.
