A fresh start

I know you didn't see enough of rookie point guard Jeff Teague against Portland. Who wants to be their lunch money that he plays big minutes against Sacramento tonight?

I know you didn't see enough of rookie point guard Jeff Teague against Portland. Who wants to be their lunch money that he plays big minutes against Sacramento tonight?

SACRAMENTO – Before you finish your sentence complaining about Jeff Teague not playing against Portland and Joe Johnson playing too much, chew on one thing.

What if you are not alone? What if you’re not the only fan base whose general manager, coach, star player, sixth-man and last man on the roster drive you crazy?

What, you thought you cornered the market on being ticked off?

You are not.

Our good friend Nire passed along this message earlier today (or last night or whenever, being out west throws off my equilibrium, even after all these years of covering the league):

It’s always funny to me reading Blazers fan blogs and seeing how not alone Hawks fans are in our neuroses. Blazers fans have their own Mike Bibby (Andre Miller), JJ (Brandon Roy), Josh Smith (Travis Outlaw), Marvin Williams (Martell Webster), Teague (Jerryd Bayless), Al Horford (Greg Oden), and Zaza Pachulia (Joel Przybilla). They even talk about Nate McMillan almost exactly like we talk about Mike Woodson. Seriously, it’s uncanny. I just emailed Big Ray a series of blog posts from BlazersEdge where you could just substitute in the Hawks’ player’s names and it would be a typical comment section in your blog. My favorites:
“Brandon has dribblexia”
“Oden needs to be further integrated into the offense—immediately!”
“This team has needed a defensive-minded off guard — not a floor general (i.e., Miller), midget shooting guard (i.e, Bayless), or athletically challenged off guard (i.e., Steve Blake) — so Kevin Pritchard not trading for Kirk Hinrich midway through last season is inexcusable in my opinion.”

But why be like everybody else when you can move on? This is the time for a fresh start for your team and for you as fans. The Sacramento Kings await tonight at Arco Arena. They’re a new challenge, something else to focus on.

Win another game out here and then you can really start getting crazy about what could be in this first month of the season. Either way, I’m moving on tonight. No more griping about Mo Evans seeing limited minutes against the Trail Blazers after playing so well up until that game. I’m done taking shots at Marvin because he can’t seem to find his groove.

It’s time for a fresh start (tip off is at 10 p.m., don’t be late).

If Josh or Marvin would pay attention to what Z has figured out with Jamal we’d have one heck of a highlight reel.

That’s gotta be half a dozen times that the switching defense has resulted in Beno breaking down Zaza on the perimeter. That is NOT a matchup you want.

Totally forgot about Teague . . . Woody has been giving him the Acie Law treatment. He’s played well enough to earn minutes.

I give the Kings coach credit. He plays his bench. He inserts Kenny Thomas in the game for the first time to start the 4th qtr. 1pt game with 8mins left he plays the rookie Casspi and with 6mins left in the 4th qtr he puts Mason in the game for the first time….

In fairness, the Kings coach really has no choice but to play his young players since they make up more than half his team. That said, Teague definitely should be playing more.

Man I knew Teague was done when Woody pulled him to the chair next to him during the Lakers game. Sekou hate to see u go Bruh. You had a real grip on the happenings in Hawkville. Hawks have really turned the corner. Years past on the road back to back was almost a certain loss. The only bad thing out of all those years ATL was booming the team sucked. Now they are good and nobody can afford to go see the games. Life IS a B. Then u die. Lol. Damn…

Rod from College Park,

Um no homie, your assumtion is way off dog, I’m a man bruh and my name is pronounced as “Michael” just spelled different “Son”. Dude if you can’t tell, I’m from Atlanta, hince the “fromatl” part of my blogname. You was called “Son” because infact you come across like one on this blog. On the reference on whether or not I should have used “seen” or “saw”, dude miss me with that bulls**t cause it’s not that serious it’s a BLOG lmao. SMH at you gaining some type of gratification from a grammer error on a BLOG SMDH!!

Also you said and I quote: “You hate on someone when you dislike him or her for no reason or you are jealous of him or her. I have a reason to dislike Marvin’s game, and I damn sure am not jealous of him.” – - – -LMAO and SMH at you basically ethering yourself with your on definition.

You also said: “I would never want to be in a situation or on a team where no one respects me at my job or in my industry” – - – -Um I haven’t received the memo about Marvin not being respected within the Hawks organization or NBA.

“Non-informed bloggers” – - – -OK “Mr. Airmchair Quarterback/GM of the Year”

Question,

With all the critiquing you do “Son”, have you ever bothered to show up at a game or is you just a permanent “blog hater”.

We had two Texas point guards to get the cold shoulder from Woody. Teague has shown he can contribute. Hopefully he’ll see some action against the Bobcats. They couldn’t stop him at the preseason game!

Great back 2 back road wins! JJ and Crawford both scored 26 points, but Crawford was more efficient at 10/15 as opposed to JJ’s 11/22. When the outside jumpers are not falling – drive!!!

Sacramento likes to run, and we let them. But once again, we scrapped for rebounds and clamped hard enough on defense in the end to secure the win.

Remember the whole bit about Crawford being a legit #2 scorer? Well there it is. Nice to watch him and Joe torch the Kings for a total of 52 points, and this three guard lineup at the end of games appears to becoming a regular thing.

Smith’s fouls kept him from doing more on the court (specifically on the boards), but he still helped out quite a bit in spots on defense, although if he didn’t have an opportunity to get a block, he more often than not layed off of his opponent, allowing Jason Thompson to score 22 points. The good news was no turnovers.

Marvin showed better aggression on a number of plays than I’m used to seeing. That, and he really fought guys on defense. His play was pretty efficient, especially on the offensive end.

Bibby showed up for this game, and was more aggressive going to the hole than he was since he got here. Fortunately for us, he and JJ also were good about snagging rebounds, or we would have lost that part of the war.

Overall, I’m glad for the win, but we should not let terrible teams play their game. We didn’t take them seriously enough in the beginning, which allowed them to go on runs throughout the game. Of course, we took it from them in the fourth, and that’s good. Against good teams, we won’t have the chance to do so.

4-1, I’ll take it. :)

Sekou hate to see that you are leaving. Good luck with NBA.com

Great win but it looks like the plan to get Joe some rest was just talk.. When they interviewed Joe after the game the dude could barely speak because he was grasping for air. Looks like Teague is going to get the Law treatment. He has to learn to trust the young guy and let him play. Woody complained about not having a deep bench for years and now that he has one he has went right back to ignoring them again. Good to see Marvin wake up. Crawford looks like he wants 6th man of the year…And once again I like ray’s idea of just cutting off Nique’s mic. At one point he called Kevin Martin KJ.
