Lou Dobbs needs a promotion!

"The Hawks have very limited talent, no center and very little room under the salary cap. This team has over achieved for quite awhile. Woodson has one of the longest tenures currently in pro-basketball, and for good reason."

Lou Dobbs is good on CNN - but lay down the pipe around here buddy.

VALVA74-I agree, the way Orlando shot the ball only happens for a team 2/3 times per season. However, it's not what Orlando did that's upsetting me, and hopefully a lot of others, it's what we didn't do and continue not to do that's so disturbing. We've developed a tendency to fall behind early against the better teams and we never seem to put up a fight to mount a comeback.

GEEMACK-Woodson is entering his 6th season as our HC. How good or reasonable can any HC be if, after 6yrs, he refuses to realize or accept that his OFF needs help and/or outside input, especially when that OFF has so many obvious issues? Over the past 5yrs we've all witnessed Woodson blame a lack of talent, depth, experience, and his players in particular, for the failures of his limited, one dimensional, jumpshooting, guard oriented, halfcourt OFF. He's deliberately avoided assigning blame for our DEF failures, because that would require him to address the major cause of those failures, PG MBibby, which he's not prepared to do.

What happened against Orlando might have set the stage for him possibly getting his butt fired before the season ends. After seeing how poorly both he and his team were prepared for the last preseason gm leading into the start of the season, a poor start could trigger Sund to make a decision on him. We have too much talent and the ASG has invested too much money to lose ground, especially so early into the season.

Why don't keep the tar and feathers on hold for a little while?

Right now ATL is 0-0 and so is ORL.

We had a very bad game and a lot of last year's mistakes re-emerged but we were playing back to back games, after a comfortable win on the road against MIA and against a an ORL team which clearly wanted to show us something.

This was a clear case of ORL showing their best against ATL showing its worse.

Let's wait and see who is favored by the average.

And Samuel, Vince's game was a fluke (as was Anderson's who even got blocked against twice): everyone plays him soft and he usually goes 2/8 from downtown.

His accomplishments have been always below what his potential allowed him to achieve.

Gee Mack - It was just a preseason game and all, but that Magic game was indicative of his coaching prowess throughout the duration of his tenure as Hawks HC - no response when we get punched in the mouth by elite conference foes. We roll with the same stale iso plays - no ball movements. There is a disgusting lack of adjustments after half-time and the lack of hustle in the third quarter. An offensive coordinator and a MOTIVATOR are in order. Let's hope we are not saying these things come December.
Go Hawks.

Hey Ken

I said the same thing. However I don't think Woody is a bad HC, but I do think he needs a better offensive coach. Also I still think there is a huge talent gap between the Big 3 and the Hawks. Eventhough we added depth, size, & quickness it is still based of mid level talent.

As Hawks fans we have to remember the Big 3 in the east added those same things but acquired top level talent with their added depth size & quickness.

Woody can only do so much coaching from the sidelines at some point the players have to take some type of responsibility.

What is it with Atlanta pro teams and the media spotlight? It seems like every time there is a chance to shine , they get their behinds handed to them.
Case in point: The Falcons -Cowboys "game". Like the Hawks , this year was being touted as a breakout year with Matt ryan(insert Joe here foe Hawks analogy) leading the team to the playoffs. With Coach Smith , a defensive coach,( insert Woodson here)leading the way.

Well, the GM genius (insert guess who here) drafted two defensive players who had a long history of injury as starters and they are where? Injured. Oh, and the size anology is painful: the Falcons refuse to hire any defensive back over 5'9" and the Hawks want all of their players to be 6'9".

Seriously, both teams are progressing but these bouts of total meltdown in big games is not encouraging at all.
