MIAMI - The Hawks survived 16 games late in the regular-season without Marvin Williams.
Now it’s time to see if they can go the next 48 minutes or so without him.
The Hawks’ starting small forward has a soft black cast on his right wrist, inadvertently matching the American Airlines Arena crowd in their “Black is Back” get up for Game 3 in this first round playoff series.
A nasty fall late in the third quarter of Wednesday’s Game 2 loss to the Heat at Philips Arena will cost Williams this game for sure. There’s no indication of how much time he’ll miss altogether. That hasn’t been made clear as of yet.
Believe it or not, there are more pressing issues for the Hawks right now.
Whether or not the Hawks get overwhelmed by the Heat and this atmosphere that is off the charts crazy right now remains to be seen.
But know this, their road to winning this series has taken a drastic turn without Williams and with Dwyane Wade and his crew feeling the proverbial heat (a cheap one I know, but I couldn’t help myself).
And if you think Game is going to be tough, Game 4 Monday night is going to be dang near impossible, because everyone down here in South Florida is going sense that it’s just a matter of time before the Heat wins this series.
While it’s far from over, this is not the kind of atmosphere (18-4 and counting right now in favor of the Heat) the Hawks could afford to falter in, not with their season on the line over the next 72 hours.
Let the venting begin Hawks fans.

as much as i love the hawks, it’s great to see GOOD basketball being played.
It’s nice to see the heat with ball movement, knocking down shots, playing witha swagger, and their superstar coming through big time. Thats what basketball is all about.
Woodson and the Hawks dont deserve the checks they get after a performance like this
they are playing and have the body language of B1TCHES, plain and simple.

I have never posted on any of these blogs before. However, I have to say something, so, here it goes. Is it just me, or, are the Hawks NOT contesting any of Miami’s shots? This is the NBA! Any player can get out there and hit uncontested shots at a high clip. The Hawks are my team, but I cannot lie; I really, really, really, really don’t like what I am seeing; tonight, or in the near future. All I can do is shake my head….:SMH:

I hate to see my home team struggle but win or loose this series I think Joe Johnson is not a franchise type player. Rick Sund take notice keep Al, Marvin, Josh,Flip and Bibby (at a reduced price) Joe can be traded from where I sit definetely no long term high priced contract for him.

The only good thing is this freak show is almost over. If the Hawks find a way to recover from this they’ll have truly earned the respect of the masses. Because this is as thorough a beating as they’ve taken all season. And whoever said the Heat couldn’t shoot like this from deep again (ME!) underestimated the power of a driving D. Wade willing to kick the ball back out to open shooters.

they could have got me and went to the hood in west macon and grabbed 4 guys out the unionville gym and put us on the court Vs. the Heat if they wanted to see a team from GA get blown out by NBA players.
I guarantee we’d have a better 3 pt % though.

Josh is all physique, little talent (hands) and no brain.

You know, there is an NBA analyst on tv, that would make a great coach for ATL. He preaches defense and not giving away anything easy. I think is name is Avery Johnson. I think he would be a good coach for our Hawks. I have never, before tonight, said that Woodson as to go, but ah, Woodson has to go! It is not ALL his fault, but he sure does should a good bit of it though. Sad, just sad!

Didnt Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith say the exact thing about the Atlanta Hawks offensive struggles last year when we played Boston in the playoffs???…..Too much one on one, and no half court offense. So, what the hec has Woody been doing for the past year? You would think that someone in the Hawks front office would have gotten that memo. Billy Knight was right……Woodson should have been canned a long time ago.

Wow:
1) D Wade travels/double dribbles every time he has the ball
2) We have no scorers / no superstar
3) Woody can’t coach an offense
4) We don’t double team, but we don’t guard SHOOTERS. LOL.
5) Woody and Sund need to go, ATL needs new fans, the owners need to sell the team

the hawks should be completely ashamed. there is no excuse for this. you at least bounce back from that game 2 and make it close. the hawks better bounce back monday with a win or they can expect to hear a pin drop in philips arena. now excuse me while i go throw up at this pathetic performance. and i use performance very lightly. there is just no excuse whatsoever fot this. none.
