No Marvin, no cry!

The Hawks won't have Marvin Williams tonight and possibly longer.

The Hawks won't have Marvin Williams to lean on.

MIAMI - The Hawks survived 16 games late in the regular-season without Marvin Williams.

Now it’s time to see if they can go the next 48 minutes or so without him.

The Hawks’ starting small forward has a soft black cast on his right wrist, inadvertently matching the American Airlines Arena crowd in their “Black is Back” get up for Game 3 in this first round playoff series.

A nasty fall late in the third quarter of Wednesday’s Game 2 loss to the Heat at Philips Arena will cost Williams this game for sure. There’s no indication of how much time he’ll miss altogether. That hasn’t been made clear as of yet.

Believe it or not, there are more pressing issues for the Hawks right now.

Whether or not the Hawks get overwhelmed by the Heat and this atmosphere that is off the charts crazy right now remains to be seen.

But know this, their road to winning this series has taken a drastic turn without Williams and with Dwyane Wade and his crew feeling the proverbial heat (a cheap one I know, but I couldn’t help myself).

And if you think Game is going to be tough, Game 4 Monday night is going to be dang near impossible, because everyone down here in South Florida is going sense that it’s just a matter of time before the Heat wins this series.

While it’s far from over, this is not the kind of atmosphere (18-4 and counting right now in favor of the Heat) the Hawks could afford to falter in, not with their season on the line over the next 72 hours.

Let the venting begin Hawks fans.

What is that pin that the coaches and TV analysts are wearing during the playoffs?

Pathetic half.

We are an athletic team. So why are we playing half-court Spurs shyt on offense?

Can we please bench Smoove for the rest of the game and play ZaZa? Amazing that ZaZa played very well then was taken out for that immature punk who thinks every foul call on him is wrong.

I FORGOT: SMOOVE IS A GREAT PLAYER. I’M JUST A HATER

The sad part about all this is RICK SUND is satisfied at where we are this year. He thinks that they just have to grow and get better. Remember he said a few weeks ago that he would be SATISFIED if we beat MIAMI. That is the standard of this PATHETIC ORGANIZATION.

I agree with Mark…bring Mario into the game to give some energy…..do something besides give a deer in the headlights look from the sidelines! Our problems on the road comes down to poor coaching. Woody does not know how to motivate a team and coach a team during pressure situations. Case and point…..almost all of our road wins occured when we started out the gates quickly.

Let’s hope Woody gives them a good half time speech to get the Hawks ready for the second half. Even if we dont come back and win, we need to at least make the score more respectable.

PATHETIC. I’ve counted at least 8 point blank shots that the Hawks missed in that half. This is just a poorly coached team and it shows in the effort and what these guys run on the floor. We ran a few plays offensively and made a run but I swear as soon as JJ hit the floor we went back to playing 1 on 5 offensive basketball again. To steal something Bob said in last years playoff series “Who’s the team with the composure?” Definitely not these Hawks when theoretically speaking they probably should have a lot more composure than what they are showing

I am not blaming Josh or Horford, but I would see if I could trade one of them along with Marvin for Chris Bosh. We need a low post threat, not for the regular season but for big games like this.

I can’t recall seeing anyone make a basket after being “fowled”. Would that involve some sort of bird attack during play? I think that Randy Johnson was “fowled” one time, that’s the only one that comes to mind.

Dude, you can’t actually believe the Hawks are going to win. First they are one the road. Second, they are the worst playoff team on either side of the NBA. Enjoy winning a game this year in the playoffs. Hey,at least we made history by winning the first game of a seven game series!! Yeah!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, I forgot. Three – We have the worst coach in the league, bar none. He could win with allstar 10 year olds in the 10-11 year old league!

The Heat played a little rope-a-dope with the Hawks in the first game. This is beyond any description…how in the heck can the Hawks look so horrible. I do believe coaching is a big part of it…but this team lacks heart as well. What an insult this is to the fans. At least the Braves won today.

look i’m a woodson hater myself, but if you are a professional athlete and can not get hyped for a playoff game without motivation from its coach you need to go to the doc’s office and get your heart checked, come out hard the second half and run the ball down the heat’s throat

Did you hear what Kenny and Charles just said. When asked what is wrong with Josh Smith, Charles said “They won’t let him dunk” Kenny said that all we do in half court is “dribble, dribble, dribble dribble, shoot.”

Woody should take the fall for all this, but honestly HORFORD and JOSH have not LOW POST SKILLS.

Boston won last year because of a true low post presence . KG

Lakers got to the finals because the added a true low post presence. PAUL GASOL

When the Pistons won it all a few years ago, it was because they added a true low post presence. RASHEED WALLACE.

You got to have a low post scorer to be successful.

I’ve never seen a so called captain and all star (Joe Johnson) have so many excuses made for him when he does not perform to the level expected of an all star and team captain. It’s excuses made by posters here that he plays to many minutes or he had to guard the other teams best player, Woody did not get him open looks. Lets be clear true stars, ballers, players, however you classify them make sure there presence is felt by the officials and the oppossing team when they step in the building. Joe has to become the guy and stop being one of the guys and exhibit that in his play(no excuses). He says he came here to lead and show he could be the guy to build around but truth be told his play and leadership is suspect. Seems alot of folks are lowering there expectations for Joe rather than holding him accountable to maintain high standards of play. It’s tough for me a fan of Joe Johnson to watch a guy with this much talent not have that edge and savy needed for his team reach that next plateau but it’s not to late hopefully he ‘ll figure it out or someone respected in the organization or league will feed him some food for thought. This is a team sport and he can not win by himself but the Hawks success starts with him. If your star can’t get calls at the end of the game, if he seems to waver when the lights are bright is he really a star?

any hawks fan in here who is worried is truly delusional. We all know a coach like mike woodson has what it takes to light a fire under his players and get them to make an amazing comeback.
I mean were talkin about a coach who was like 100 games under .500

Just the kind of guy I want coaching my team.

We beat’em: You must be joking! It is the coaches responsibility to design a game plan and call plays during the game that feed off of your teams strengths and your opponents weaknesses. Woody is incapable of doing this. This team should be pushing the tempo of this game and scrambling on D – which is what they did in game 1. We could be a decent half court team…with the right plays. The only play we have is one on one!! Go get Avery Johnson!
