Why don't we put it to a vote and let the people of Georgia decide? Since when is it up to the politicians to decide when we should vote on something? It's time we all took a stand and make the politicians work for us and not just special interest groups with money! Horse racing and horse tracks WILL bring in needed revenue...it's a fact!
Why don't the politicians of this state wake up and do something positive that people actually want!

Now why would anyone think the legislature to do what the people would want?

As Preisident of the Georgia Equine Education Project (GEEP) our ourganization is the one behind the horseracing legislation. And I am the registered lobbyist at the Capitol. We need your help if you want to see it pass. Contact me at ewgadrix@earthlink.net or404-729-1961. But there's no time for chit chat. Be prepared to contact some legislators for us. Time is short and we're real close to accomplishing our goal---horseracing in Georgia

Georgia already has hundreds & hundreds of thoroughbred horses in training, as mentioned by a few they train here but race in other states. So to put the slant on it being cruel to horses, sorry you are many many years too late. Wake up. Some probably are bred, raised and trained less then 5 miles from where you live. Yes go for a drive and open your eyes.

A racing industry in GA would thrive, we already are rich in equestrian knowledge and expertise. Do Georgians already gamble on horses? Sure they do, but the cash generated leaves our Neanderthal state,

Wake up Georgia the world is floating away.

Go you good thing!

Grow up Georgia. We have two of the most traveled interstates in the country. Filled with people going to OTHER states. Give them a reason to stop. Casinos, golf courses, places to eat and stay,etc.. All this relates to jobs, revenue and a much better standard of living for the entire stste. Legalize gambling for fun and amusement.

I moved from Florida to GA. I love to bet the horses. I played the horses all over but was surprised that GA did not have a race track nor an off track betting location. I believe that I will relocate since GA does not encourage gambling. I love to gamble because it takes my mind off things and helps me to relax. Besides if the state of GA had a race track the economy would be more prosperous. There would be more money poring into the city and it would give the citizens another activity to do. I sure hope the bill passes.

I make few runs to Alabama and Kentucky to bet on the horses via simulcasting. Yes please build a track in the I-75 corridor south of Atlanta. Some of the snow birds from Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio going to FLA would most likely stop to watch the races since horse racing is legal in those states. Also there are a lot of transplants from those states and from the Eastern states who live here and would love to bet on the horses. Hope the bible stumpers will come to their senses. They most likely buy life insurance and play the stock market. That is also gambling to me. GO BABY GO!!! and off to the races in beautiful "Peachtree Downs"
