Decrying a federal government he says is out of control, former Georgia Gov. and U.S. Sen. Zell Miller said Thursday that America is “spending like we’re Paris Hilton.”
But the comparison to the blonde socialite might not be the worst offense in Miller’s litany of all that’s wrong with the country.
Speaking to more than 1,000 conservative – overwhelmingly Republican – lawmakers from around the country, Miller said, “Today, we’re spending like we’re Paris Hilton, regulating like we’re Ralph Nader, nationalizing like we’re Hugo Chavez, printing money like we’re the Weimar Republic and taxing like we’re, well, the Democratic Congress.”
Miller was the Thursday keynoter at the annual gathering of the American Legislative Exchange Council, which ostensibly is a bipartisan or nonpartisan group of legislators. In practice, however, ALEC is overwhelmingly Republican, as evidenced by the the speakers Thursday who bashed President Barack Obama and the the Democratic majority in Congress. This morning at breakfast it was economist Stephen Moore. At lunch it was WSB radio host Herman Cain, a former Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, and then Miller, who served as a Democrat but famously rejected the party near the end of his time in Washington.
Miller said Obama’s decision to try and close the Guantanamo Bay prison where suspected terrorists and enemy combatants are held, is “nuts.”
“This strange Obama sense of justice penalizes our civilians’ with their loss of freedom while rewarding the terrorists with new rights they never had before,” Miller said.
Obama, “our globe-trotting president,” Miller said, “needs to stop and take a break and quit gallivanting all around. I think (chief of staff) Rahm Emanuel ought to get some Gorilla Glue and put it in that chair in the Oval Office and say ‘Sit here awhile.’”

Zell (and the rest of you knuckleheads who think he said something good), need to run off to another country where Democracy doesn’t rule. This isn’t the United States of Republicans. The people elected Obama and this is what they wanted. Overwhelmingly. Don’t like it? Leave.

Anyone notice that Bush would send us money back from our taxes in tough times while Obamamania sends our money to Unions, GM, Chrysler and Banks. Thanks for nothing dems. Zell Miller use to be someone that the Black community could embrass when he was Governor of Georgia. I was a kid then, but he seemed like a cool guy. Now, I am not sure what to think of this ANGRY MAN. The qoute “Gorilla Glue” made me turn in my seat. So I decide to look up Gorilla Glue and I was just floored when I saw the website and thought about his comments. Of course he (Zell) is going to say it was something else when we all know it was an attack on President Obama as a black man. This is just sad…Zell Miller is on the wrong side of politics and history. C’mon Zell, did you have to make that statement, knowing its going to get you in trouble. If you were in office, your days in office would be numbered. WOW!!! I am still shocked, but I guess that is nothing new when a black man makes strides, there are alway those that would attempt to overshadow those accomplishment with inflammatory comments like Zell made, before a roaring ALL REPUBLICAN CROWD!!! I love how when a former Dem tells the truth, the Left immediately starts spinning it as senility. Looking at the effects of this administration, I’d say the senility applies at 1600 Penn Ave. Anything this guy promised to help America as a whole has not been enacted. Instead he’s propped up all of his special interest groups at our expense while the rest of the nation withers. Defending these failing policies is senility….

You all like to throw around the words racist, knuckleheads, wingnuts, but you never actually challenge the material discussed within the article. Please do explain why none of those are good points. Perdue’s terrible, Obama’s terrible, show me a politician who actually cares and has a clue and I’ll buy your lunch.
I do believe Obama thinks what he is doing is right, much like I think Bush thought the same thing. However, what both didn’t/don’t realize is the ramifications of their actions. Obama implemented a cobra stimlus program that gave laid off workers money to purchase their company’s COBRA coverage after terminiation… so what did most companies do? They rewrote their severence plans to compensate for the subsidy. Thus laid of workers got less from their companies thanks to Obama.

What Mr. Miller said is racist, pure and simple. There is no gray area around it. And people who try to defend such, i feel sorry for. He can disagree all he wants with the President, even give it his homespun stupid nick names, but he could have said Elmer’s glue , or get a glue gun. I’d say cue the liberal race-card throwing hate rhetoric but that Add Seymour idiot already did. Nice going you ignorant tool. When brain-dead lefties are hit with the truth they naturally turn to spewing their wretched brand of hate and intolerance. Simply put, you’ll never get a liberal to engage in an open and thoughtful debate. They’re not smart enough to do it. It’s why no one gives a crap about their stupid radio shows. The only thing you’ll learn from a liberal is how to hate people you disagree with and pander to those you fear. If they disagree with you, they simply hate you. If you don’t think like them, look like them, talk like them, read their books, vote like them, believe in what they believe in, they hate you. And if you’re a white, rich, Christian guy, forget it. These people live to hate. They are one of the most intolerant groups of people on the planet and that is a fact. Thank God (oh crap, I just capitalized God), the majority of people aren’t liberals.

Everyone, I am absolutely irate because Elmer’s glue is white and has a picture of a cow on the front. Since the glue is white and I am white, I am convinced that they are implying that all white’s are cows? HOW RACIST! People, get real. Look up gorilla glue. Like Smile explained, it is an extremely adhesive, multifunctional glue. One that you could use to glue SOMEONE to a chair with, if you did not want that certain individual to move from that chair for an extended period of time. If you have ever taken a trip to your local Home Depot, then you more than likely would have seen or used this glue. Really, stop trying to apply metaphors to any comment that references Obama in a negative manner.
For you Independent Thinker, here is the description Gorilla Glue uses for its product: “Gorilla products work when others fail, the first time, every time, helping people around the world build, create and repair.” I agree, absolutely appalling. Please note my sarcasm. If anything, Gorilla Glue is more of a symbol for Republicans. It is a symbol for those that DO things in and with their life. They actually “build, create, and repair”, whereas Democrats love to simply take, take, and take.

I can’t nor “you people” can take the credit for everything going wrong in the world-so my apologies Scott. I abide by being a lawfuls citizen just as a lot of people (the you people included do). You don’t like Obama I understand-your choice, but to degrade a human being and then go for categorizing a race of people because of their skin color is unwarranted and unnecessary. If President Obama (I choose to respect him, just as I choose to respect you) if he is not your choice to straighten out this mess our country is in, make sure you do what you can during the next election to ensure he isn’t re-elected. I just don’t like it when people get on here and see it as a way of venting their hatred towards another race. Maybe our country is going to hell in a handbasket because we all as humans white, black, red, brown are to busy pointing the finger at each other, calling each other names and refusing to try and get along. Maybe if we stop focusing on the “White man keeping us down” or the black thugs, naggers, monkeys, apes, and anything else we say to hurt one another, maybe just maybe the US of A will get its act together…Now whew with that said, The race card shouldn’t be played here – I thought it was amusing myself because he feels that President Obama can’t keep still so using gorilla glue (which is one of the most strongest adhesives) will keep him in his chair then so be it.

I don’t know where Sean gets his info but from my last reading of the census, whites are still the majority in the South ….I believe the exception is Texas if you call them a southern state. Anyhow, after 4 years of Obama I have a difficult time believing he will re-elected and I pray he doesn’t … he and his fellow dems are driving us on the road to financial ruin.

RepubliKLANS always called people who dont agree with them idiots. Hell, when Zell was a democrat, republiKLANS couldn’t stand him. Now that he’s helping them spew their hatred, he’s a class act to them. Just goes to show you how shallow the republiKLANS are.

It’s funny how people try to say that things aren’t raciest by making racial statements. Life is funny huh? People grow up… every action we make has a reaction.

Seems like a lot of people try awfully hard to find racial overtones to anything that is said that is anti-Obama. How about Super Glue. Does that make you racists feel better? Lord knows only southern white men can be racist.

If you have actually ever purchased and used Gorilla Glue, you would not be offended in any manner by the reference by Zell. That stuff works on anything and is unbelievably adhesive. Thus, the reference to “put it in the seat and sit awhile”; once it dries, you’re stuck. Obama needs to stay put and really hunker down on his executive duties. His lack of executive branch experience (and general life experience) is really causing this country harm right now as it relates to his ability to lead others and/or make good decisions regarding appointments to critical government leadership roles. The policies emanating from the executive branch right now are clearly idealistic in nature with no basis in reality or quantifiable results. While he has inherited some problems from the previous administration and the economy, let’s face it, he’s not making policy decisions solely to address those matters. His goal is clearly BIG GOVERNMENT and reducing our country’s influence around the globe.

Let the defense of Zell’s at the VERY LEAST poor choice of words begin, and lets be honest we all know Zell and that ain’t the case.
Funny thing is that the fella Zell basically sold his political soul for over the last 8 years is the one who got us into this mess in the first place. I suppose there is no use in waiting for an apology…..right?

It is funny how racists think they are so smart with their comments. These are the same losers who still believe that high school is the pinnacle of their existence. Let’s hope they push their kids towards a college education they never received with hopes that the kids can see what pathetic losers their parents are. There is no place for racism in this discussion. I guess these white miscreants (and I am white) are terribly irritated that an African-American has more power than they will ever have. I guess they can take solace in the fact that their hate-filled anger will undoubtedly lead to too much stress and ultimately premature heart disease, taking them out of this world without barely leaving a footprint.

I guess its time for all of you who are so sensitive to start pushing the makers of gorilla glue to change its name to something more politically correct . What a bunch of crybabies

Abraham Lincoln really screwed us when he caused the separation between the North and South. I would gladly divide the North and South and let the North take the precious messiah teleprompter Obama! Since most of the Northern states supported Acorn and Obama and put this NUT in office, let them have him! We don’t need his blind, unexperienced, debt in the South! He and his entire family has spent date nights, traveling the world on the taxpayers money! Cuba or Venezeula may be a great place to live after this idiot destroys America!
