Cagle out of governor’s race

Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle today announced that he’s dropping out of the governor’s race in 2010.

Cagle called a press conference for 1:30 p.m., and said medical issues forced him from the race. He’s still planning to run for lieutenant governor. Republican Gov. Sonny Perdue cannot seek another term.

The announcement came as a surprise since Cagle, a Republican, has raised the most money of any candidate in the race and was considered a strong contender.

As a fellow Georgian, I hope he gets well. :) As a democrat, I’m glad he’s no longer running because he would be a tough opponent.

Curious?

Cagle is unhealthy enough to drop out of a state wide Governor’s race but healthy enough to run a state wide Lt. Governor’s race?? Somebody in this town please do some critical investigative reporting.

Cancer is a horrible disease. I cannot believe the Democrats are using it against him.

What health issues? Regardless of politics, hope he is ok and it isn’t a serious health concern.

Yeah right. I smell blackmail. What skeletons do you have hiding in your closet Mr. Cagle? We all know that the level of corruption in our political leaders runs deep. What bad deal did you lose on and don’t want to be aired during the race? Illegitimate child? Corruption? Did you use TurboTax to “pay” your taxes? What is it Mr. Cagle? What are you hiding?!

I didn’t know that addiction to some one other than a spouse was a medical issue.

Handel doesn’t have a college degree – she would be an embarassment. Even Pakistan requires its politicians to have a college degree from an accredited college!

Good, Cagle dropped out. It’s time for a Democrat Governor. Some of those non-active Georgia Republican Legislators need to drop out of the race too.

So! Perhaps Oxendine is correct. Maybe Lt. Gov. Cagle can’t “think hard”. If medical issues forced you out of the governor’s race, then those very same issues should have the same effect to keep you from running for lieutenant governor, again. What’s the difference? Duh!
