But, it is needed to enable a large part of its population to get to jobs, do necessary shopping, and carry out activities that contribute to the city's economy. Other large cities with systems similar to MARTA recieve some State support, and these States realized a long time ago this is necessary for the public transportation systems to function. Such support essentially contibutes to the quality of life and viability of a city such as Atlanta. Of course, our legislature and Governor are not exactly what you call progressive, forward thinkers. So the Governors comment about MARTA having to shut down on somedays, stranding people trying to get to work, is that this is "unfortunate". Typical for him. And now he wants to be one of the decision makers on selecting transportation projects that will be funded in the future. Ever since the Republicans have taken over the governorship and legislature of this State, things have been gradually going downhill. Well, you get what you vote for. I've been to Cumming, and their efforts to keep blacks out is meaningless since there are a lot of Mexicans up there now. Was the moonshine you're drinking strained through a car radiator? It must have been because you sure have some dead brain cells.
