Richardson plans exam of Open Records Act

House Speaker Glenn Richardson Friday expressed frustration that lawmakers seem to be continually carving out exceptions to the Georgia Open Records Act.

Maybe, Richardson said, more comprehensive legislation is needed.

Richardson made his remarks before a vote on Senate Bill 26. The bill would limit the disclosure of certain private information of firefighters. It passed by a 172-0 vote.

Richardson told Rep. Wendell Willard (R-Sandy Springs) that it seemed the Open Records Act had been amended at least 15 times since its enactment. No, more like 40 times, Willard said.

Richardson said he planned to look into the law in the months leading up to next year’s General Assembly.

How about state parks? They are trying to force privatization of all our state parks by cutting their funding.

Pot calling the kettle black, considering he got his judge buddy to block access to his messy divorce papers.
