I think it’s disrespectful for this resolution not to pass. If it weren’t for the fact that President Obama were African American, there would not be a problem. Georgia is still Georgia I see but those of us opposed to this southern style of politicking and all too familiar with it will continue to challenge it until the day it is totally defeated. By the way, you can call me a race warlord if you’d like but truth is truth and it’s time for us, as “fearless” Americans, to call a spade a spade and change our perspective. President Obama has been the most disrespected President that I have ever witnessed. What state leader has ever refused stimulus funding from a President? It’s unheard of. As I predicted, many in the good ‘ol south would refuse to acknowledge that change, and a good change at that, has come. But, guess what? It’s here to stay!

John – Here’s an answer. It depends on the size of the emergency. If there is a fire at my house, I call the fire department. If the fire is so big that the firehouse is engulfed as well, then obviously the fire department is not going to be able to help so it is time to call someone bigger. This is why FEMA (ya know, the FEDERAL Emergency Management Agency) exists – because some emergencies are too big to expect the states to handle on their own.

I would also say that the response to Katrina across the Gulf region is STILL inadequate and needs to be improved.

The state government of La failed in response to Katrina. I need to ask everyone something, but first lets break things down into something people can understand. You have a pending emergency/crisis at your house( let’s call this your city)You do what you can first to avoid the crisis. You take no action and it happens, who do you contact first for help? You call the local emergency services(the county) or call the county( the state) or call the feds(U.S Government)? Who responds first to an emergency? ( Is best suited to respond? Someone close or far away? Why not talk about all of the other cities effected by Katrina? I find it funny that other states had no problem getting things moving again, but La. is still wondering where money went before Jindal took office. Get a clue people

I read every post and 90% appear to have been posted by bigots. I doubt any of them could define the word “racist”. This article did exactly what it was meant to do..divide people even more. Sheinin started with the headline and went after his agenda throughout the article. Government should not be concentrating on stupid legislation like this anyhow…protect our right to life, LIBERTY, and the pursuit of happiness. That is all.

I always love how liberals know what other people are thinking. They know how to spend everyone else’s money too. In this case the manifest racists are all liberals…can’t tell what color you are on the blog.. I have no idea what you are thinking but we can all read your words. With this loser in office, you should expect four tough years of hearing the truth…daily.
He has screwed up more in eight weeks than Bush managed in eight years. We have trillion dollar difficits stretching as far as the eye can see. The Dems are attacking our rights. Pelosi says that work place immigration raids to enforce the law are “unamerican”. The economic decline of this country is just starting.
If a president
1. Raises taxes on the most productive
2. Increases regulation
3. Incurrs massive deficits
4. Intimidates business with new laws and novel interpretations of existing law
the outcome will be economic stagnation and high inflation. We thought only Jimmy Carter could screw up the country that badly. Obama is not making a mess because he is black but because he is a boob.

Come on! Do we really think this is a suppression of recognition or is this a positive demonstration that right now we have much bigger fish to fry? I’m all for recognizing Obama, but now is not the time for focus or debate on trivial legislation. When the time is right please re-introduce.

If bush was honored for what happened with Katrina so freaking what, He could have done absolutely NOTHING and gave you a good reason to call him a racist, but he did something.
