Past domestic violence charge: DeKalb school board candidate Corey Wilson releases statement

Corey Wilson

Corey Wilson

Here is the release from Corey E. Wilson, candidate for DeKalb School Board, District 3,  in response to revelations of arrests in his past, including a 2006 arrest for domestic violence:

“I have worked to address the real issues that impact our children in the DeKalb County School System: improving our schools; and supporting our teachers. I encourage everyone to look at my complete record and focus on the big issues. Let me be clear. I have been in love with my wife since we were teenagers, and I still love her. After recently celebrating our 12-year wedding anniversary, I am committed to my family, this school board district, and winning this race. I have a history of community service that speaks for itself. Look at the lump sum of my achievements and not a just few acts.”

Wilson’s campaign provided this additional statement:

In 2006, Corey E. Wilson and his wife experienced a marital disagreement. The incident occurred just after the death of Mr. Wilson’s mother. This matter did not result in a conviction. Although, Mr. Wilson was charged all charges against him were dropped. While in college, Mr. Wilson was involved in minor legal matters which also did not result in any convictions. Mr. Wilson regrets these incidents.

Corey E. Wilson is a loving father and committed husband with a strong track record of community service. For three years, Corey served as president of the Oak View Elementary PTA where his sons are students. Corey served on the DeKalb County School System’s Strategic Planning Committee and Parental Advisory Committee. Corey founded Fathers Being Involved, a group which focused on increasing the involvement of fathers in the lives of their children. Corey is a member of the Waldrop Farms Homeowners Association and the Belvedere Civic Association. Corey and his family are active members of New Mercies Christian Church. He regularly serves as a volunteer coach in his children’s sport teams. As Operations Manager for CarMax’s Alpharetta location, Corey is responsible for managing the company’s goods, people, and assets. Corey is a graduate of Georgia State University and Georgia Perimeter College.

So Jordyn, you are telling us it did take place? Thank you. And by the way, humans don’t “mistakenly” put wives in headlocks and kick them.

Is SET the same person from the Bay area in CA that was a regular poster on this blog years ago? If so, good to see your comments again.

I do not know who responsed to you from eduKalb. However, I can assure you that the Bio that EduKalb has on their website for me is not the Bio I sent to them in July. It also is not the same Bio I sent to them again in September after I complained because they never placed the questions I had sent them in July on their website. They copied this Bio. I will be glad to send anyone who emails me the Bio that I sent to them in July and again in September. You can look for yourself and make your own decision if they edited anything sent to them in July. I am puzzled by this response. Please email me and I will send you my Bio and you can see for yourself. The group did not even have my questions I sent them in July to place on their website and they acknowledged receiving them. How did they evaluate them fairly if they did not have them to evaulate. This did make me ask many questions about the group. I still do not know what to think. I do believe many of them are honorable individuals. I am shocked at what I have observed. I am not so bothered I was not endorsed. However, I am bothered they did not apparently have my questions to evaulate and/or to place on their webpage. This was an eye opening situation for me. I am still in shock.

My email is ella.smith@att,net. I do believe the group intended to do something good. However, I feel the way the situation was handled caused many to question if they were credible. I question this myself since they did not have my questions or Bio I sent to put on their website. If there was a problem finding them I was only an email away and I would have resent them. However to know I may have been evaluated just by looking at my comments at the only forum on UTube is unfair while they had Dr. Walker’s questions. Look at the questions posted on DeKalb County School Board Watch and decide for yourself after the fact.

People that know Mr. Wilson as I do, understand what he is about and sadly, he knows what he is about. Not surprised he beats his wife, but as a woman who has been there, my heart pours out to her. He obviously doesn’t respect her much because I actualy met Corey at a local sports bar a few months back and he explained to me he was running for the position and then proceeded to try and get my contact info so we can “hookup later”. I said aren’t you married and his response was “And”?
I mean if he is elected will he try to sleep with the women on the board too? He is obviously in a bad place and misled as a person, but I will pray for him. He is active in a church? Then he should know the bible talks about a double minded man.
So my vote does not go to him, but my prayers really do go out to him and his family.
