Voter turnout appears to be ’steady’

A spokesman for the Secretary of State’s office says voter turnout “seems to be steady.”

Spokesman Jared Thomas would not provide any estimates on how many people are expected to cast ballots before polls close at 7 p.m., or where turnout was heaviest. According to the agency, Georgia has 5.8 million registered voters.

Thomas said the Secretary of State’s office is fielding calls about problems, though he would not provide specifics. “Every election day we get calls,” he said. “We do have a team spread out across the state to physically investigate.”

Thomas says the agency has set up a large call center to field calls at 404-656-2871.

Polls today didn’t seem to crowded here in woodstock. My only gripe is that atleast at First Baptist Woodstock it was a MESS. They are having a huge conference at the same time so it took me a solid 5 minutes of driving around to figure out what building it was in and then i had to park FAR away. I’m physically capable of walking 1/4 mile from my car to vote (though i didn’t appreciate it in the rain)but there was an older man with a cane behind me and he certainly WAS NOT. In the future, they need to reserve a row of parking spaces for voters coming in and out.

Well, the vote today is another I.Q. Test for those in the metro. Begin the process of alleveating the gridlock or postpone the process and watch commute times grow and grow.

I don’t know how much people value time with their families or how seriously they take the health risks of stress related to gridlock traffic and the inhaling of exhaust fumes, so we’ll see if the good folks of the metro pass the test.

But, of course, this is the age of political gridlock where politicians and voters alike are intent on being contrary and oppositional. . . . and stupid!

Sit in traffic. . . .waste $3.29 a gallon gas. . . .miss time with your wife and familly for one dang percent. Now brother, that’s a dumbarse response to a serious problem if you ask me.
