Will it really happen? Fulton County’s new elections chief promises the county’s thousands of voters and the rest of the state will not have to wait seemingly forever for the county’s results to be revealed after the polls close tonight.
“By 11:30 p.m., we’ll be finished,” said Barry Garner, hired 15 months ago from Florida. “That’s my pledge.”
As AJC reporter Marcus K. Garner observes, that’s a bold statement coming from an office with a history of delays, significant miscues and allegations of ballot tampering in recent elections.
