Bannister recall effort in Gwinnett falls flat

If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. The latest effort to recall Gwinnett  Board of Commissioners Chairman Charles Bannister hit another dead end, but that won’t stop his critics. A Superior Court judge ruled that Randolph De Vault, chairman of the Gwinnett Recall Committee, didn’t offer sufficient evidence of any Bannister wrongdoing to go forward with the effort to remove him from office. Vault says he’ll keep trying. We’re waiting for Bannister’s reaction. Read more.

Was it the same guy who said the guy was driving drunk? I don’t follow Gwinnett news much but obviously some people have it in for this guy. Good way to get nothing done though – taking elected officials to court every time they do something you don’t like.

My taxes have gone from $1800 14 years ago to $3200 as of the most recent tax bill, with the majority going to schools taxes.

They continue to build libraries, and schools, even during one of the worst economic times in our history. And doing so with the purchases of LARGE parcels of property, and paying unprecedented amounts for these properties to the good ole boy system. Then they need additional property to put a road through to access the large parcel from various directions, and come along and offer the home owner peanuts and suck up their property either through verbal manipulation or eminent domain.

Being in my early 50’s and the spouse was unable to have children, I couldn’t care 2 HOOTS about the schools or educating anyone.

@ David I totally agree with you… My husband and I are 33 yrs old and don’t have kids which mean why I am paying 95 % to schools and I don’t have any children. I hate the system and think it is not fair. Since I am paying so over 2500 for taxes I want my 2 beloved dogs to attend obedience and babysitting school while we are working on taxpayers money.
If you have more than 3 children in an household you need to pay for each child after the 3rd to attend public school.

Remember, Bannister has stated the whole county is his district, gave us in the unincorporated districts this awesome trash plan (sarcasm). Just go away Bannister! As far as all the haters posting on here, why then do you live here?

@Hmmm – Residents of Gwinnett said no to county garbage collection so…Bannister put it through charging us, the home owners, 18 months up front. It’s not being collected through our water bills – as do most cities. Oh no – our homes are attached through escrow. The county is going to make millions off the back of the hard working tax paying home owners. Recall? Perhaps not but yes to voting these deaf officials out.
